Master League Adventures and other ML stuff 2011!

Sonoman, I agree, I just thought I'd try simming some, but I felt like it would be a half cut effort of raising the ML defaults! Though I regret having to let go of Avil that youth player I found earlier

Right so 6 games in and won 5 drawn 1 unbeaten so far this season!
Added 6 players:
Palmieri 17
Shimizu 16
Schwarz 16
Pelaez 17
Scmidt 18
A.Areola 17 (£625k)
I think I got lucky with the ages of my youth squad this year! :)

I finished my first season (I started playng 5 minute matches and simmed like 5 games towards the end because it got so easy)
And in my second season I got a BEAUTY of a regen!
Name of Altidore from America, Scout says something reminds him of Inzaghi, signed him up!
Key stats are: Shot acc. 94, Shot Tech. 95, header acc 95, and the sprint speed and strength stats are low to mid 80's! Stupidly good player.. Though I think I seen his name somewhere on FIFA before, any ideas people?

He plays for the US National team, big, strong centre-forward.

Also, try playing 15 minute games, you'll find the CPU alot more balanced and challenging. It's a different game.

Ah well, looks like he has been used to embody the insane abilities of Inzaghi!
Thanks for finding that for me

As for playing 15 minutes, I could do that, however I want to get through games and seasons relatively quickly, and playing 15 will be 4 games an hour, will take forever to get througha season

What's the rush though ? Seriously ?

I will guarantee you will have alot more fun, and a much more challenging game playing ML on 15 minute games. It feels like a proper 90 minutes. If you just want results play Football Manager.

I would never sim a match or bother with 5 minute games personally. It's not worth lacing up my boots, your on and off the pitch very quickly, and the CPU Ai is all over the place as it endeavours to cram a 90 minute scenario into 5 pityful minutes. Waste of time for me personally. As for the 4 games in an hour, it would be more like two and a bit games. A 15 minute match lasts about 25-30 minutes. It's a much richer experience though, balanced and not rushed.

Just my 2-Cents Taylor.

Played a great game Vs Everton in the first round of the cup. Put out my 2nd string as I want to focus on the league in order to try and get promoted in my first season with these youngsters. Ended up taking the lead through Ordaz at the very end of what was a good first half for me (66% poss, Everton having 1 shot off-target). 2nd half they came at me more and made life difficult. They managed to break through and make it 1-1. Was hanging on for most the 2nd half and managed to make it to 90min.

We went into extra time, and I brought on my best attackers. Game swung back in my favour and I pushed forwards looking for a winner. Smacked the post and forced 3 fantastic saves out of the keeper in one move. Could not score! Penalties it was then... I scored 3 in a row, and saved two of Everton's pens. Then stepped up and put the 4th down the middle to progress to the 2nd round for a nice easy tie against Arsenal.

Currently 3rd in the league after 8-9 games. Got to play the team in 1st next though, big game.

The 5minutes and simming were during the closing stages of the Npower Championship, when I'd ready tied the league up, and had nothing left to play for..

In the premiership its been purely 10minute games and played all of them to this point, I will try 15 minutes, I'm just eager to keep building my team and rush cause of this its sort of an easy mans solution to the end of a season when everything is said and done, all that's left is finishing what I started.

In that case, fair enough bud.

When it comes to PES, I'm a 15 minute man only. I like to get stuck into a proper match, and the timescale gives me that. From tactical changes to subs, it makes the game more rewarding and fulfilling. In my opinion of course.

15minutes sounds like a better option tbh, I very rarely get the chance to make a substitution at any other point than half time or the hour mark, because there just isn't enough time to use them past this point, I just don't want to play a game where if I take a quick first half lead, the AI pours forth looking for goals and gives me all the time and space in the world to attack and get goals, happened against everton early in the season, I took a 2-0 lead within half an hour, and the pushed forward in the second half and I ended up adding 3 more goals from counter attack football, can really take the fun away if they do that

my team currently
Crystal Palace:
-------------------Areola--------------------
Aurier-----Palmieri-----Schmidt--------Ruskin
-------------------Gibson(c)-----------------
----Di Maria-----------------------Pelaez----
------------------Shimizu--------------------
--------------Schwarz--Altidore--------------
--Subs--
Ivarov
Jaric
El Moubarki
Ettori
Ximelez
Chicharito
Gutierrez

reserves are jut other ML origanals
-though i might need to sell Altidore end of season, his wages are rising stupidly high already
-Di Maria,Gibson,Chicharito all bosman transfers
-Aurier (£850k) and Areola(£625k) both french and 18 years old baragains in my opinion as Aurier also has a few skill cards, and Areola punches the ball instead of pushing it in!

Someone knows why I never get Shimizu and Pelaez in my Youth Team? I allways got Palmieri and Schmidt no matter if I choose ML Original or Default Teams. I've tried with a few different teams but I can't get them. It has something to do with your team's ranking or what?

Do start with Defaults or Match lineup?
Because I don't think you start with them with Match lineups and its very rare you get them at all in that mode, they seem to be a defaults youth pair

I just had the most ridiculous game going!
Lost 4-1 to Fulham and I know this will sound like I'm making excuses but:
Goal 1) from my corner Schwarzer caught it and launched it forward, of my 4 defenders and defensive midfield, NO PLAYERS WERE BACK, I'm serious, I had 10 players in their box for a corner, easiest goal they will ever score!
Goal 2) palmieri passed the ball to Schmidt, who was more than happy to stand like a block of wood as the ball rolled past him to Dembele, who finished by sliding it straight at my keeper who seemed to do his best impression of a dying giraffe as he fell like a post to the floor OVER the ball
Goal 3) I can not even describe the dribble than Martinez did, it was kind of amusing yet frustrating at the same time, he didn't even run, he kinda stood still knocking the ball side to side, yet advanced the entire way up my half before kicked the ball into the goal he was almost teleporting his way through my team
Goal 4) well the one that topped it off for me, pure class, ball intercepted on the edge of the box by Schmidt facing my goal, I try and turn and clear, what he must have received was, forget to turn and hit a superb chipped finish over your own goalkeeper, I had to applaud, it was a super finish..

I won't reply that match, I refuse to be seen as a kid who restarted a match because of a bad result, I just wish I had the replays to show you the insanely poor way they scored each goal
And its not like its because I'm poor at the game, I had won the previous game 5-0 against Bolton, a bit of a Schizoprenic game tbh!

LOL
it happens man, sometimes PES goes into demon mode and scores NO MATTER WHAT

you can even get that feeling before they score, you know the game cheats from time to time

So I'm new to Master League (haven't played it since PES2 or 3) and I've now started ML Online but I don't see any youth players like you guys are talking about. Is the ML Online different from the offline ML?

P.S Kenny Miller & Steven Fletcher are good buys ;)

I know it happens but 4 goals in one game, including possibly the finish I've ever produced, mental

And Online is completely different, ceck the MLonline threads for help about that game..

Liverpool Bounce Back with crushing victory

Liverpool FC bounced back from their 4-1 FA Cup defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers with a 5-1 thrashing of SK Slavia Praha to ensure they sealed qualification from Champions League Group H. "It's good because we can now relax a little. Obviously we will want to finish top of the group to avoid teams such Barcelona and Inter Milan but we must realise that there is no easy tie in the Last 16, for example theres a chance we could play Real Madrid in the Last 16." the manager stated. He continued "It will also give us a chance to ensure that some of the youngsters in the team will get a chance to play at the highest level to help their development."

Torres not feared by chance of Anfield reunion

Real Madrid striker Fernando Torres today stated that he would have no fear nor would he go half-hearted if he were to have to line-up against the defence that has proved to be a real brick wall this season. "I would not fear them, we are a good team, as good as Liverpool and I feel that if given the chance to play them, we could run them very close.""They know me and I know them very well obviously, but I would have no remorse for the club if I were to score the winner that knocked them out of the competition. Palmieri and Vanderbuurd are a very good defensive partnership, but not unbeatable."

Trio's future left in doubt as manager puts them in the shop window

Sotrios Kyrgiakos, Martin Kelly and Dirk Kuyt's futures were all place under fire as the Liverpool boss told the press they will be up for grabs in the January transfer market. "We have too many Centre Backs at the moment, with Agger, Skrtel, Palmieri, Vanderbuurd and also Ayala coming back off loan soon there is no room in the club for either of these two. I am sad to see them leave but hopefully they will get more opportunities at a different club. Regarding Dirk Kuyt, the players age is dictating this one. We are a young club, full of promising youth players that need game time. He is past his best and can not offer the club what he could a few years ago."

So season 2 finally finishes!
Qualified for the Europa League which is an achievement all of its own with the mid-table squad I had
No new signings during the year, about to go into the final month, so don't know about youthg players as of yet

Darron Gibson has emerged as a big clubs wet dream for some reason with Liverpool, Real and Aletico Madrid plus Manchester United all watching him

Di Maria attracts attention from Fulham and French Duo Marseille and Lyon, with the highest bid coming in at £42million so far, the Argentine starlet will not be sold yet however.

Altidore has not been moved on as his wages remained relatively low, but a £50m bid could be accepted as the club wants to expand further

Played for a few hours today, and find myself comfotably placed in the league at fixture 32 5th, 5 points clear of 6 and just 1 point behind 4th, with 6 games yet to play, I could find myself in a champions league place yet, first though a Europa League final match vs Juventus can Crystal Palace find the win the round of the perfect european debut? Well, will just have to wait till tomorrow, I'm tired and decided to save and turn off!

Guys, I just got a 86 20 yeral old Honduran striker from my youth team, says that the kid is something special holy shit.

I already have the new Sergio Ramos (Mravac, Bosnian, found him at 75) and Cesc Fábregas (Barrantes, Costa Rican, found him at 72)

Currently with Spurs and I just signed the reborn Palermo at 69 and all of sudden this kid pops in

Jutkiewicz is leaving after 4 years in the club and Palermo could get loaned out I dunno.

By the way guys if you're using Daymos OF sign Kagawa, Sigurdsson, Naki and Ilicevic ASAP, awesome players who develop at crazy speeds.

Oh and James Rodríguez from Porto is a beast on the left midfield, try him.

I'm really noticing how a player performs has a lot to do with his levels of tiredness before the game starts. If you have that little white line under their stamina bar anywhere near approaching half way in the formations screen (hope this is clear what I mean!) then regardless of what form arrow that player has, he'll be sluggish and unable to do things you tell him 100%.

Schwarz is the perfect example for me at the moment, nearly halfway through my second season I'm level top of the French League with Nice, and Lyon two points behind. I failed in the summer to sign a backup striker on loan, and so now have had to press on with Pavluychenko and Schwarz as my only two players who can actually play as strikers. Big error on my part, but by playing them non-stop, Schwarz is really struggling with his first touch, reaction times etc. It's a great feature and one that at least in ML at any rate, has some kind of consequence for playing people low on stamina too much.

A perfect example of this was Miljevic. He struggled like Schwarz for a while, so replaced him with Affelay on the left and then when I brought him back a few weeks later, fully rested, though his form was only on green, he destroyed his opponents like he was on a red arrow. Brilliant.

Surprisingly, Pavluychenko, who did 'okay' in the second half of season 1, has now risen to the challenge during Schwarz's poor form, and is banging in the goals. Though I'm joint top of the league, my Europa League campaign is faring even better. My best football is being played in this competition, I'm certain to qualify for the next round having gained maximum points and a 6-1 thrashing in my last game. Palmieri, newly appointed captain, taking over from Hargreaves, bizarrely bagged a hat-trick, all from set-pieces. He's now on seven goals for the season, since I changed my set-piece settings so that he comes up for all corners, free-kicks etc. I'd really recommend doing that if you have him in your team. He's also already rated at 89, just halfway into season 2 and 18 years old. I guess using a chunk of my money to sign the absolute top coaches in the world is really paying off, they'll save me a ton of money in transfer fees in the long term!

There is a belief amongst many Hardcore PES fans that the Captain's Armband actually boosts the players stats by 10% across the board. Much the same way a Red Arrow does. I actually believe this to be the case, although it's regarded by some as an Urban Myth. The way Konami make stats relevant, certainly leads me to believe this is true, also, I've had many instances in my own ML offline campaign and online play that has certainly made me feel this is true. I tend to give the Armband to my most influential players, and they certainly seem to raise their game.

I also believe the captains armband raises stats, because Shimizu was my captain during my first two seasons and hit around 22goals and got 33 assists, but in the 3rd I gave the armband to Gibson, who has raised his game while Shimizu has lessened his influence (but still a huge influemce) I was thinking of giving Altidore the armband, would be interesting to see him up his game!

@Jimmy, if so then that's another awesome little addition that makes who/where your captain is more of a tactical decision. I initially chose Palmieri because he's come through from the start as opposed to being signed, so he's a loyal player to the club, a strong CB which is always captain material, and of course his stats indicate he'd be good in that role. I really love that idea though.

There's potential there for Konami to take this captain idea further - being a captain boosts a player's stats, but the amount it boosts them depends on their fondness for the club, a stat which of course can be found when browsing your squad list. If a player is particularly attached and loyal to your team, making them captain would naturally boost them further as they'd be more proud to captain their team than, say, a new signing. Or maybe this is already in effect. I didn't notice too much difference when Hargreaves was captain, but now Palmieri has the armband, he's a beast!

@Taylor, where do you play Shimizu then? I still don't have a set role for him, he's primarily being used as a sub and squad player to be honest, he can't break into the starting eleven on a regular basis because Miljevic, Affelay, Modric, Valbuena are all ahead in the pecking order right now. I can never decide whether he's best as a central or wide player. I'm even considering training him to have the 'super sub' player card!

Diamond midfield set up, he sits up top and Gibson holds from deep, but if I come up against a strong team where he can't compete fully in the centre I put him out wide and use his pace to keep him up with the best

Thats another 10% boost, even better when he's on a Red. I love the Super-Sub Card and have seen some fantastic examples of how well it works with the players associated with it. Do it LT, give him the Card. ;)

To me Shimi is too important to be sat on the bench! But he was my 16 year old skipper for my Championship winning season! Still haven't had time to get on and play the Europa final, looks like its another 3 o'clock gaming session!

Jimmy do you have your own ML on the go? If so let's see your squad!

Not this year Taylor, this is the first year I've not had time for the offline ML. I love ML, but I spent the first half of the year playing MLO and the rest of my time is spent playing in the PEEL leagues.
