WE9 - Post your complaints and disappointments here!

My main complaint is I can't seem to break down the CPU defence, I'm still winning but can't seem to get 1 on 1 with the keeper, longs shots are easier but a lot of my matches are going to penalties. :|

yeah I realized that myself. I've had WE9 for 4 days.. I've played it for about 3-4 hours each day and all.. I repeat ALL of my matches on 5* has ended 0-0. I played against Reggina once, and their defence looked like Chelsea. Very unrealistic. I had to go down to 3* to be able to win anything. I find 3* more realistic than 5* when coming to the oppositions defence.

I can't believe it.. every year Konami does something fucking annoying with the game.

1: You can only have 50 badges/flags in an option file (last year it was 64, which wasn't even enough)

2: It doesn't look like it is possible to patch the unlicensed kits

3: The arrangement of teams in the unlicensed leages.. they aren't in alphabetical order like they should be and was last year. oh god :(

4: Konami has always been far away from certain other soccer games concerning the amount of teams. This year I noticed there are six new teams. Sao Paulo, Santos, Fenerbahce, Shakhtar Donetsk, Ivory Coast, Venezuela. I thought ok it's better than nothing. But that was before I realized Egypt, Jamaica, Spartak Moscow, Cruzeiro, AEK Athens and Partizan are GONE.. they have dissapeared.. WHAT IS WRONG WITH KONAMI :( :( :( :(

i must admit i dont understand the concept of removing teams..

I love WE9  PEs4 and We8Le is a bugusinggame. There so many bugs, that every noobplayer can use them.

Here a few PEs4 /We8LE Bugs

1. Ronaldo and Owen Bug...and other fast player with huge balance.Take ronaldo and run with him..this make every noobplayer...who cant play football!
2. Lobbug: Square + R1 and the ball is in the goal (PES4)
3. Foulbug: every tackle is a cauten or a yellow card..(PES4)
4. Dribblebug..when you want you can dribble and hold the ball 15 minutes
5. Counterattack bug: with a unrealisic formation like 5-1-1-3 or 4-1 DMF-2OMF-3 Stricker. The only way to win is to play counter..because the gameplayspeed is very unrealistic (fast)
.
.
.
and so on.

Konami remove all this bugs and some people cant use it in we9..that is one reason why they dont like this game. The must play realistic but they cant, because they are bugsuser ;)

I don't get it...last time I read the news thread, WE9 had around 70 or so national sides including some random countries. It actually seems less than WE8(!)
I have to take back what I said about WE9 previously - the game does grow on you and you do begin to appreciate the minor quirks in-game.

I'm disappointed that they still haven't implemented some essential changes such as a custom league mode. When my friends come round, its annoying that we can't create a mini league as can be done in FIFA.

hahaha...bugsuser? this is really funny

what are you saying is there are no bugs in we9?

the counter attack bug sounds so funny, if you cant score in pes4 unless from counter attacks that means you are the real noob :applause:

I've been silently observing comments about this game, from what I see it looks
like WE9 is a more realistic simulation of the game than WE8/PES4.
People who are used to playing in a certain way in PES4/WE8 just can't seem
to do the same things anymore.
WE9 requires a more realistic approach to the game...when people start approaching
it like a new game and forget about what they did in the previous versions,
then they will like it.
Interesting that there are a few people who initially slagged the game off,
but now are beginning to appreciate it more.
I am waiting for my copy, it should be here tomorrow or day after,
I have'nt played since WE8 or PES4, so I'm expecting a huge difference in
gameplay, hopefully a good one.

You can! :D This has also been possible it other versions but you had to start a Konami cup with group stage. I just checked in WE9 and there is a new "Costum League" added in the League mode

Nah, I wouldn't agree with that. Compared to all WE versions released within the last two years, WE9 still got the best feedback out of all those previous installments.

Does anyone know how to get the English translation of the Famitsu review. Interested in what it says. :)

I took the realistic approach and scored loads of unrealistic goals, but the game simply failed to impress me. I have not and will not play it until the next version comes out. The game just falls short in many areas in my opinion. Oh, and if you look closely, you can see some of the players ice skating into position. Just look at the replay to see what I mean. Lot's of bugs. Very sad...

In PES4 u had the option to create a costum league through the league mode, so this isnt new at all.

First off, I didn't really believe I would one day participate in a thread such as this - KONAMI has lived up to expectations year after year, and I have been satisfied every new version that came out. It always seemed to be for the better.

After clocking in more than 10 hours of playing WE9, though, I must say that I am a just a little bit disappointed. There are plenty of pros and cons each way, but I never seemed to mind the cons as much as I have this edition.

The pros are pretty obvious, and having read through most of the posts in this forum (not just this thread), I would agree with most of them. I'll move on quickly to the cons.

- automatic sidestep. As much as I would agree that this particular Egyptian guy (who has already been banned I believe) was a waste of space, his main complaint did make some sense - pity that he should keep repeating it like a broken record though. The automatic sidestep looks terribly scripted and reminds me of fifa. I was never a big fan of the old R2 sidestep in the previous version for the exact same reasons. It looks too "fake" - yes it's true that modern players automatically look for passing angles and sidesteps out of the way for a pass or a shot, but if you see that too much in a computer game it just screams scripted. The sidestep routine takes a while to finish and by the time you finish seeing it you just don't feel like pressing the pass button anymore - the computer hs already done the hard work for you by giving you an angle for it. I don't feel like I've earned it.

- The game is a lot slower - read A LOT slower. Now I'm not a huge fan of the kick and run; in fact I was born and bred to watch the Serie A where defence, tactics and midfield scuffles are the order of the day. But I would imagine advocates of the EPL, who get weekly kicks out of their Henrys leaving shadows and defenders behind en route to goal would find this game extremely hard to stomache. Owen with the ball seems to be sprinting away at the same speed as Mihajlovic running after him. Pace has absolutely no advantage in this version, whichI think is a little unrealistic. I wouldn't want the game to be dominated by fast running pacy strikers getting to everything, but KONAMI seemed to have removed this from the equation completely. WE8i was too dependant on speed; WE9 had it removed almost entirely. I don't seem to feel there's an in-between.

- Players are now FORCED to use the R2 to shoot in order to have any practical chance of scoring. The sole shoot button isn't an option anymore because the effectiveness of the R2 alternative has rendered this redundant, or even worse, a detriment. Many a times I find myself in a good position inside the penalty area with a relatively unguarded net, tap my shoot button (less than half a bar!) without using R2, and the ball skies so dramatically that I stare at the screen in shock. The shoot button by itself serves almost no practical purpose in a real match now. The introduction of the R2 is in truth a good move but I would really like to have it as an option rather than being forced upon me whenever I want to score. Long shots seem easier to pull off now but unrealistic. How many times does that happen in real life? Score from outside the area in real football and you'll almost certainly be nominated for goal of the week.. I don't want to think that shooting from way out offers me the only realistic chance of scoring in WE9. Sadly it seems to be the case.

- Is it just me or does every match end 1-0? I've got no complaints about the game being more difficult (I ruled 6 stars on the previous version, now I'm struggling to string 5 passes together on 3 stars, let alone score), but I'm playing 15 min games and it always seem to end 1-0, either for me or for my opponent. I've played about 40 odd games now and 90% of them end up 0-0 or 1-0. Maybe it's just both our styles of play (very defensive)..

- Passing is nigh on impossible. I'm not the "look at me I can dribble past 6 defenders" type of player and I pride myself on my style dependant almost exclusively on patient passing and probing, but now using the default view I can only string a couple of passes together before either misplacing it, rebounding off unintentionally to an opponent or simply running out of openings to pass to (I'm refering to the default view). It seems like the game is punishing passes and rewarding hopeful punts upfield, because posession is lost so easily by playing a patient passing game. Sometimes even a simple pass rolls behind your intended target and the opponent picks it up easily. It makes you less determined to play patiently and probe for openings..

Having said all that, there are still a lot to cheer for in this new edition. I'm using Udinese and trying my luck in the Serie A on 3 star and every match is a battle - I score a goal and end up watching the replay 10 times (because goals are so rare in WE9) but feeling immensely satisfied at the same time. All in all, this game is the most realistic version I have ever played, but because of its realism a lot of enjoyment during the actual gameplay has been sacrified - modern football, is, after all, all about results first and entertainment later. KONAMI seems to have taken this approach in creating the most accurate protrayal of the sport ever in a sports sim but a lot of the fun had to be taken out as a result of this focus.

The "middle shot" is a good move but I would really like to have it as an option rather than being forced upon me whenever I want to score. Long shots seem easier to pull off now but unrealistic. Finally, I had this feeling too. YOu were forced to shoot with R2. It was supposed to be an additional 'option' for a controlled shot, not a must. I especially missed my powerful grounder drives from top of the box to the far corner. Trying those in We9 seems to always result in ballooned shots. Also a lot of spilled balls have come my way, and i've yet to score. Just imagine balooning something from 5 yards out. Some of these, I don't even think I reacted for, the palyer seemed to automaticalyy stick out a foot and flick it.

To me the shooting mechanic in WE8:LE was almost perfect, especially when going for volleys/and drives. I'm trying to re-learn the technique again for WE9, and give it time.

Yeah been facing this too. On 3-star in WE8LE for 10mins match iw ould average about 3-5 goals angainst avg opponents. Weaker teams would be 5-7 goals. Ive palyed about 35 matches so far, higest was 3-0, een that 2 goals were lucky rebounds.

(but I mest say the rebounds (physics) looked great).

Cheers all.

Are you serious? Long shots maybe, if they give you space, but otherwise, not at all!
If youre just on the edge of the area, pressure or none, as long you have an empty line towards goal it most likely will be a goal.

And long shots :( those are way to easy, a bit of space, goal, or post. I mean come on!

Otherwhise I like the game, often play now with _crappier_ teams to counterbalance it : )

Its Just a case of getting a balance with the R2 shots so they should fix it for the next version they always do. :)

i like this game.
you don't?
just play it.
do not compare.
find yourself in new situation.
have fun.

i think passing is too easy. players arent marked close enough and the runs are still too predictable.

why do long ground passes always bobble over the field no mather who sends them. and why are the wingers not marked half of the time.

just like fifa WE should of implented a sytem where u can control the off the ball player. that was a good idea. with a nice animation where u see the player wave or the player in ball point out directions.

shooting is too easy too. it wouldnt mind so much if the game was harder, but because you get too many changes to get a shot in near the penalty area its automaticly out of balance. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE PES2!

players who normally arent good in headers or shooting can also put in a very good effort in the game. thats too bad. i wished players where more specialised so that you have to use every player in a different way and the game feels more lifelike. its allready better then in previous version, but they could focus on this even more.

keepers AI should be tweaked more. they are a little better, but they need a dozen more animations and i like to see more difference between different keepers. more one handed saves, more acrobatic last second reactions, more efforts all in all to prevent us from scoring, keepers are dead atm.

those are my main gripes. still a good game, but i expected a bit more. something is just still off, and its been like that since pes2. too easy i geuss. i want to earn my goals. score from a half chance due to skill. now, i feel i can still lose against a first time player.

I had a niggling feeling bout this too. What if I stopped playing like prev. version and played 'dumb'. It worked. Just shoot blindly when theres an opening, you'll get more goals that way.

Even passed it to my 2yr old, she could move the ball into a scoring position by just repeated pressing :x: , and could get a shot off when I told her to press :square: . The irony is, in experienced hands this version could also be sublime. But just think, as PESV said, experienced palyers may still lose to newbies.

I know this first hand, since when I go home for the holidays, round up a few of my mates, and get a session going after and hor or so, the can star beating me as well.

Just keep my fingers corssed this wont become FIFA-Evolution 11

:(

hi all,,i just got the game yesterday, and ive been playing it non stop till the wee hours in the morning.and i have to say im kinda dissapointed in it,ive never had any complains abt the we series,,and ive been playing it since iss on the snes, but we9 is not wht i expected.i think its basicly the same as we8,except for a few new animations, and other small improvements.i dont know why thy had to get rid of the crowd in the fist place during a match,at first i was not too bothered abt it,but after playing so many games and u see empty seats,,it gets a bit bothersome.the automatic sidestep is ok for me,but they cld have done without it.my main probelm with the game is tht there are too many fouls, and it gets really annoying after sme time,,another thing i noticed is the players have icy breath even whn im playing in hot weather??wtf??..other thn tht the game is cool, but u cant really say its a huge leap frm we8,thyr abt the same,,but we9 is just slighty bttr,it wld have been really really good,if konami had fixed the crowd bug and didnt make the ref's so strict.

exactly. if you go and play as if it where a real match, you will enjoy yourselve no doubt and its all very realistic. but if you go for a pingpong game, you will get that too and u will be able to score in a lame manner.
no matter if you play against a human or pc opponent, you can get away with it.

i think making players more specialised and less allround fantastic, with closer marking, better keepers and less chicken runs from defenders will solve the problem. along with skillfull controls and small 'tricks' to get past a opponent, more in the sense of 'feints', cause thats what is used the most in real matches, body feints and passing/shooting feints.

passing is ok now, but a power bar is needed so you can also make a tight pass with certain playmakers to balance out the tighter marking.

the game should ask for a faster handling time, cause then u get sucked in the game and it requires real skill and creativity. its too predictable atm wich prevents me from being sucked into the game most of the time, or maybe we've just been playing these series for too long.

Why do Konami mess up the original game the vastly improve it in the international/evolution version?

I mean every version We7 was attack biased as was we8 but the the 'update' version was balanced. It seems they are going down EAs route of little improvements here and there.

Still enjoying the game but its so frustrating that such a good game should be great!

LOL play against a good player who play with a 5-1-1-3 Formation or 4-1-2-3 and try to score with a realistic play (without counterattacks) and win the game..very difficult.
Play a little bit PES4 online and than we will see..noob.

Some of you say passing is too easy and some of you its too hard. Some of you say shooting is too easy and some of you cant shoot at all. Personally i think they have nearly just about stuck the right balance and my only gripe so far with the game is still those awful disgusting pitches apart from Yokohama and Velodrome.
