Youch! :(

Maroon 5 'Makes me wonder' is class though and I'll defo get that. The rest... shite.

"The European version of Rock Band features 9 additional songs not available on the North American disc."

Hysteria was one such track :)).

More Pearl Jam this week (where'd you get your info Dags? - unless this is extra to what you have listed?)

State of Love and Trust, Alive and Brother all 'live' tracks.

Probably only get SoLaT as that is one of my all time fave songs :)

I didn't get it from the official forums, probably Kotaku or something tho.

Nice little session I had with Becanes and Mrs Becanes on World Tour the other night. I hadn't played in ages so I sucked a bit, still managed to get 100% on lead guitar for Hella Good though :)).

We always have a good session. I just gotta make sure I keep getting those 48 hour trials for the Mrs.

Is the RB2 Rolling Stone Immortals List all the same songs? Because I've just did pretty well in the 8-song set until Battery came on after all the time spent doing five songs earlier.

Could I fuck get passed it, losing 75k fans everytime I failed at it and gave up after something like 5 attempts and getting 65% of the way through at most.

Gave up and chose to do it again and it's coming up with Livin' On A Prayer and Pinball Wizard like last time. If it's going to keep the same songs then I'm going to have to do them on Medium level which'll bore me to death just so I can get passed Battery :BRICK:

Edit: Just started it a third time and Livin On A Prayer is the first song again :BRICK: As is the fourth time, fuck this, I'm going to have to go through on Medium

I'll be finally playing this tomorrow or saturday as Lovefilm dispatched a copy to me today. It'll be a PAL copy so I can't use my DLC or import the tracks from the first disc but I'll at least get to play the on disc soundtrack.

I've been gagging to play rockband for a few months now but I kept loading up the first game and then skipping back and forth across the set lists thinking 'nah I've played that to death... and that'

Had a quick game this morning doing the first setlist (11 tracks). God damn most of them were shit and that Beastie Boys one... blind men with no rhythm could get 100% on that shite.

Quick question. Do you still unlock tracks by completing the tracks one by one like the old games or is there something else?

And I thought band world tour was going to be playing on your own this time? I tried and was told i needed 2 in my band so i was fucked.

You unlock tracks by completing them either in the Challenges or the World Tour mode.

You can definately do a Band World Tour on your own though, I do BWT on my own 90% of the time.

I loaded it up and picked battle of the bands and that said something about needing other members. I thought it might be some random band vs my band mode but i'm guessing its an online band vs band thing. so i tried the other option and picked the first square icon and it said 'you need 2 band members'

I'll have to have another look later on.

Some of the Battle of the Bands challenges require 2 or more players. If you check each challenge it says what it requires. Normal World Tour you can do with 1 player though :)).

Next weeks DLC is 3 from Kings of Leon!! (plus other shite).

Kings of Leon “Crawl”
Kings of Leon “Molly’s Chambers”
Kings of Leon “Sex on Fire”
Rancid “Last One to Die”
Rancid “Ruby Soho”
Rancid “Time Bomb”
Rise Against “Prayer of the Refugee”
Rise Against “Re-Education (Through Labor)”
Rise Against “Savior”
Lush “Sweetness & Light”

Defo buy for me, although I'd prefer to play Sex on Fire on the Guitar Hero drums... that said, I'm getting better at playing it on a real kit, but for some reason I really wanna play it in a game!

"Sex On Fire" was one of the very few reasons I'd want to try GH5, excellent :D

MTV Games and Harmonix Empower Artists and Labels to Get Their Music in the Game with the Rock Band Network

The Rock Band Network Gives Artists and Record Labels Tools to Author, Promote and Sell Music for Download via the Rock Band Platform

CAMBRIDGE, MA and NEW YORK, NY – July 17, 2009 – Harmonix Music Systems and MTV Games, a part of Viacom’s MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), today announced the Rock Band Network, a ground-breaking initiative that gives musicians and record labels the ability to author their own original recordings into gameplay files and sell their music as playable Rock Band tracks through the newly-created Rock Band Network Music Store. The introduction of the Rock Band Network marks a fundamental shift in the exposure music games can give emerging and established artists through innovative technologies that will open new revenue streams and promotional avenues.

"Our goal with Rock Band has always been to go beyond making music games and create a true music platform," said Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix. "With the Rock Band Network, we've evolved the platform to its next logical step, giving players access to an incredible amount of new music by putting the professional tools we use in the hands of the artists themselves."

"The Rock Band Network enables songwriters and musicians – at any stage of their careers – to create their own paths through the interactive music realm," said Paul DeGooyer, Senior Vice President, Electronic Games and Music, MTV Networks Music Group. "Our download store has been an extraordinary success, and it’s exciting for us to provide access to our platform through this uniquely elegant solution."

The Rock Band Network will launch as an open beta in late August 2009 in the U.S. and provide a sophisticated toolset, with detailed documentation on how bands can begin the process of authoring songs into Rock Band gameplay files. Authors will be able to submit tracks for playtesting and peer review via a specialized Web site, Creators.RockBand.com. Potential publishers will need a membership to Microsoft’s XNA Creators Club Online in order to test and publish game content. The service will only be available to those who purchase a premium membership to Microsoft’s XNA Creators Club Online, which can be purchased for four months at $49.99 or for a year at $99.99.

“The proven strength and stability of Microsoft’s game development tools, technologies and services allowed Harmonix to focus on making an easy-to-use experience for authors without needing to reinvent the wheel,” said Dave Mitchell, product unit manager, XNA publishing platform. “Rock Band Network is a model example of integration with XNA Creators Club Online.”

Once tracks are approved, they will be transferred to the Rock Band Network Store, an in-game music marketplace where millions of Rock Band fans will be able to demo samples of the songs for free before they purchase. Songs will debut exclusively on Xbox 360 for 30 days. Artists featured in the store will be able to choose from multiple pricing tiers for individual tracks and will be compensated via a simple payment system that provides automated accounting and regular royalty payments.

Tracks for the Rock Band Network will be made available later in the fall on the Xbox 360® video game entertainment system from Microsoft. Stand out tracks will follow on the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™ console. Joining the more than 750 tracks available to date, the Rock Band Network Store will greatly increase the amount of music available through the Rock Band music platform and further confirm MTV Games and Harmonix’s position as the leading provider of downloadable content for music-based video games.

This is genius, very promising.

If it works out the way its intended then it will shit all over Guitar Hero.

Not really, in GH you can create your own tunes and download for free.

This is going to be for indie musicians to create FULL songs (with real instruments) and then make them available for download at a price.

There is nothing worse (IMO) then playing a song from some unknown indie band, for that reason, "I'm Out".

How many of you play the Nevasoft songs in GH? Or have downloaded the free indie tracks on RockBand from bands like FreezePop?

No, neither have I...

I tried them, and they were God-awful.

I tried them, and loved them.

Bear in mind the GH "songs" you can create are like those auto-songs you get on keyboards from the 1980s. The Rock Band songs they're talking about are REAL SONGS.

I think if you were a part of my generation Paul you'd be really, really excited...

Not sure why? Why are you so excited about this?

Are you hoping some smaller indie bands make some songs that arent in Rock Band (like Reverand and the Makers, Rumble Strips etc?).

I genuinely cannot see how this is going to be anything worth having?!

Agree its all about taste though - I'm sitting here working listening to a massive Nine Inch Nails selection and thinking "Rock Band: Nine Inch Nails" would rule - if they did it like they are doing for the Beatles and as Trent Reznor is so into modern technology, could be really special!

====

I would say though that the GH:"studio" was a MASSIVE dissapointment - partly due to the limitations of the software and my own lack of patience with it.

Spent a couple of hours trying to make "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica, realised it was shit and gave up.

The RB version SHOULD be better if it allows you to upload real multi-track recordings (and vocals).
