Resistance 2 multiplayer demo this October!

If, like us, you're eagerly awaiting the launch of Resistance 2 for PLAYSTATION®3 this November, you'll no doubt be pleased to hear that an opportunity to play the game before launch is coming in October.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has just announced a competitive online multiplayer event running in October, powered by PLAYSTATION®Network. The event will allow PS3 owners the opportunity to be the first to explore new levels, modes and weapons – as well as provide Insomniac Games, the developer of Resistance 2, and SCEE with feedback on the game.

No further details are available as yet, but we'll bring you more info as soon as we have it. In the meantime, here's a preview of the multiplayer mode:




"The sequel to 2007’s critically-acclaimed shoot-up Resistance: Fall of Man™, Resistance 2 sees Nathan Hale back on his home turf, taking the fight to the foe.



The game’s multiplayer modes are set to make a huge impact. Co-operative play allows eight-player squads to undertake a fully independent online campaign built specifically for co-op play, with players choosing from three different character class types: Soldier, Specialist and Medic.

Players can also look forward to vast 60-person online battles in which they join squads with distinct battlefield objectives and fight it out on PLAYSTATION Network. The combination of squad objectives and large player-count will give Resistance 2 the perfect blend of epic battlefield chaos and intimate close-quarters combat."

Wow! Lots of beta's coming out for the PlayStation 3. HOME beta's have been sent out with a full roll out in Autumn, SOCOM: Confrontation beta keys will be arriving on Friday, Little Big Planet will be having a beta this month, Resistance 2 is having a multiplayer open beta in October and Killzone 2 will have a multiplayer beta before the end of the year. Either way I will be buying all of those games regardless of whether I get into the beta's or not. :)

Under 30 quid at Gameplay, 35 at Play with Beta Access code. It's getting abit late to be calling it a Beta I reckon though.

Resistance 2 Beta Details

Want a little taste of one of the biggest titles of the next few months? Well, IGN has come over all generous and will be handing out UK and EU beta keys for Resistance 2 this coming Monday, offering a chance to sample the multiplayer side of the highly anticipated PlayStation 3 sequel.

Full details on how to access the beta will go live on Monday, but if you want a heads-up there's a simple way to jump the queue. GameSpy users who have downloaded Comrade will be notified an hour before the keys go live, virtually guaranteeing a place in the beta.

Not a member of GameSpy? To get an account, simply register at any IGN site – you can even do it on this very page. Once logged in, download Comrade here, and then befriend the FilePlanet Ambassador by clicking here. And voila, if you keep your wits about you you'll be shooting your little heart out come Monday night.

Of course, you could just rely on your trusty F5 button come Monday – either way, keep your browser pointed at IGN to find out all the details.

I'd be happy if I got a beta for it but i don't want to be downloading their shit to get it.

TBH I'm not going to lose sleep over not getting a BETA key, I already have the game preordered and I'm not in that much of a rush.

Looking forward to the mass online battles though.. :))

Resistance 2 Beta Delayed

Sony suspends beta keys due to unforeseen circumstances. Details and apologies inside.

Bad news, we're afraid. Sony Europe has just informed us that, due to unforeseen circumstances, those hugely-anticipated Resistance 2 beta keys have been delayed. Regrettably, that means IGN is unable to offer them today.

Many apologies to all of you that have camped out here this morning in anticipation of their arrival. Sony has given its assurances that the situation will be rectified shortly and we'll have further news for you over the next few days. As for now, it's safe to step away from the computer and get some fresh air.

The proper beta codes have been sent out now. Im downloading the beta. Its around 2200mb.

Shits ive been trying to sign up with as many emails addys as i can to get a few codes to share with friends if they dont manage to get one - seems im now blocked from creating any new accounts for them.

Oh that might be because the free beta keys have all gone now and they only have the paid subscription keys left.

It says if you've used the code and give it to someone else it will ban both of you from playing on the beta

Seems IGN's codes were the filefront codes. So now they're gone are there any opther sites giving the codes out? I'm surprised eurogamer didnt get them for the eU open beta

Not sure if Sony will give Eurogamer many more beta codes after the state of their servers have been shown.

Not read anything in this thread yet - but I was lucky enough to be given a code today... and wow, this sucks!

Horrible graphics (looks like a PS2 game), guns have no punch and there is no excitement at all. I think Resistance 1 was better?!

Ouch :(
