Master League Adventures and other ML stuff 2011!

If anything, switching from FIFA World Cup to PES should feel great - the players are less responsive but you have to plan your tiny touches on the ball before you do them.

I play on -1 speed and having sped the game up from -2, it feels a lot more responsive and fun to play, so I don't know if something like that could help. But the difference in ML players is amazing. Now that I've got rid of a lot of the default ML dross like Iouga and Hamsun etc, the better players feel a million times more responsive to what you do, lag on button presses has gone etc. It's all down to the ability of the players you have.

I've carried on my good form, now only 5 points off a Europa League spot with 10 games to play. Quite the turnaround given I didn't win the first 11 matches of the season.

Oddly, Pavlyuchenko still hasn't scored, but his partnership with Schwarz is brilliant. Schwarz has come into his own, and now tops the scoring charts. Not bad for a 16 year old!

I also really cannot praise Miljević enough. At £400,000 he must be the best value buy in the game. He's only 18 but he's ripping defenses apart.

5-star Liverpool get breathing space after crushing below-par Manchester United

A 3-0 victory for Liverpool saw them extend their grip on 1st place in the Premier League to 5 points from arch-rivals Manchester United. 2 early goals from David Silva and Ryan Babel saw Liverpool demonstrate their total control over the fixture which has been dubbed along with the return fixture later this season as the 'Premier League final' and in the 88th minute Ibrahimovic ran rings around the United defence before cooly slotting the ball home past Ben Amos. The game itself gave many a Liverpool fan reason to feel relieved as a win for Manchester United would have seen them leap frog Liverpool to top spot, but Manchester United never really got going during the game, with Liverpool goalkeeper Tsaktoyuri having to make a small number of saves.

Manager expresses delight after first 10 games of the season gives 30 points

Liverpool's unbeaten start to the 2012/13 season gave the Liverpool boss many things to be happy about, but the boss was very keen to keep his feet on the ground at this early stage of the season. "The first time you'll see me relax and take a backwards step is when Liverpool have clinched a 21st league title. I know we have an incredible start and have a 5-point gap, but Manchester United will be keen to close that gap, and we really can't afford to let them. Yes we will enjoy this victory, but on Monday it will be back to the training ground to prepare for the away trip to SK Slavia Praha in the Champions League where we will also look to extend our lead."

This game has a complete split personality. I win 6 in a row, then lose a game, come back with a 7-0 win, then the next three games I lose two and draw one, each time basically getting stitched up by the AI spending 89 minutes with all 11 players deep in their own half, flooding the defensive areas, then randomly hit a 70 yard through 'pass' to some attacker who's inexplicably in about 30 yards of space, then bam, goal. Suddenly all of my top players are starting to feel like they're unresponsive. Really, really odd. Maybe it's because they're playing every week, the game might be telling me to rest them. A good rest does seem to make players more responsive, regardless of their arrows. Anyone else find this or am I imagining it? Even if their stamina seems fine, a rest will seemingly make them perform better.

The first half of the season, however, most of my players were unresponsive, the ball would seemingly bounce against me most of the time, then suddenly I win 6 in a row, everything goes my way, rebounds fall to my players, ricochets go my way etc, now all of a sudden everything's a struggle again. Players aren't making the same incisive runs they once were despite using the exact same tactics, and bounces of the ball are going against me. If my shot hits the post, it'll bounce to the one defender surrounded by my attackers, stuff like that.

Thanks for the tips but I play on zero speed and I like it that way :P I think it's what you said about player ability. I played a couple of games afterwards with Roma and with Man City and the players felt better. Part of it was button lag initially but that seemed to be better. Anyway, it's sounding like PES 12 is going to be a lot sharper and more fluid so I cant wait ;)

I finished the 3rd season of my ML with some weird stuff. First, i got that Europa League spot despite having ended in the 8th of the table (I haven't won the Cup).

And when the transfer window opens, your team raking is updated, right!?
Before I was above the teams of D2 only. When i checked it, i was the 56th! (a increase of +150)

How is this possible? I haven't won NOTHING yet, even the D2 league. My team isn't that good to be the 56th. My best players in overall are J. Hart (83) and Azpilicueta (80).

My starting 11:
............Hart
......Palmieri...Schimidt
Azpilicueta..........Ruskin

.........Camacho (At Madrid)
.........M'Vila
Piatti.............Shimizu
...........Kagawa

..........Di Vaio

The rankings update with the cross-over from one season to another at the end of the calendar. Chances are that if you were down at the bottom of the rankings, then yeah finishing 8th and qualifying for the Europa League would see you fly up the rankings.

I play ML on Top Player with ML default squad, won the Npower championship last season:
PTS82 W25 D7 L2 GF58 GA14 GD44

Top Scorer from last year was: Schwarz with 19 goals in 34 apperances

my Crystal Palace team as of September in second year:

Ivarov
(Overall 70,Age 35)
Montoya Palmieri(c) Boyata Daprela
(71,20) (84,19) (20,71) (71,20)
Oriol Romeu
(66, 20)
Koman Pelaez
(71,22) (68,17)
Shimizu
(77,19)
Schwarz Paloschi
(72,18) (68,21)

Start of first 2010/11 season- Daprela signed for around £300k and Gillet in on a loan.
Schwarz, Pelaez, Shimizu and Palmieri all join from youth team, Palmieri made captain.

Mid-season 2010/11 season- Koman, Oriol Romeu, Boyata amd Montoya all agree to join on the Bosman ruling 4 top young players for a grand total of £0

End of 2010/11 season- The 4 Bosman Players join the club as Espimas, Huylens and Iouga all announce their retirements.
Two new youth players sign pro deals- 16 year old right midfielder Ze Kalanga (60overall) who is rated as the next Camorenasi and 17 year old centre forward Abreu (60overall) who will join to replace Huylens for the next season.

August 2011- After a poor showing in first premier league game for Crystal Palace a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, the boss decides to sign young Italian forward Paloschi for £2.4Million from Genoa who immediately shows his worth with a hat trick vs West Ham United in a 3-1 win, Tomkins also signs a deal with Palace after his release by West Ham United last season. a 4-4 draw with Sunderland (goals from Shimizu(2) Paloschi and Abreu) suggests a keeper is a vital signing for Palace in January.

September 2011- Palace tie up a £3.5million deal for 20 year old Spanish Goalkeeper De Gea (74 overall) after missing out on young Italian keeper Perin to Besiktas, the player will join the squad in January and will be welcome as 'Butter fingers' Ivarov isnt looking too good conceding 6 in 3 games.

WTF is wrong with this game? One minute you can play amazing football and it's great fun, the next everything constantly goes the AI's way. Now, with 10 matches left, every single player I signed in the January window is conveniently on a purple arrow EVERY single week, despite apparently being perfectly happy. So they're next to useless. Everyone else, including my top youngsters, are suddenly turning like oil tankers and half the time when I have the ball at my feet they don't respond to my commands and just default hand the ball to the defender when he pressures you. It's impossible.

So my last six matches have consisted of me winning 1, drawing 3, losing 2. And every single match, the AI sets itself out with some kind of ridiculous comedy formation usually with four defenders, two to three deep lying defensive midfielders, an absolutely HUGE gap in the middle of the park, and some strikers up front. Then all the AI does is sit back, take 90 minutes of pressure, their keeper plays a blinder, then they pump a raking through pass, my defender by default misses the ball, they hit a weak shot and my keeper never saves a shot. Literally. He hasn't saved a shot for six matches. It feels like the game stitches you up on a regular basis.

I've been enjoying this immensely but the final third of the season is really going tits up and I'm not sure why. Why would all my top players be on purple arrows constantly, why do other good players suddenly move like they're made of lead, have awful first touch, and get brushed off the ball all the time, and then I get done over by cheap defensive lying AI spamming through balls all day.

Top Player started off brilliant, the AI actually attacked me and made for realistic matches, where I could have more space to attack but defending was miles harder. Now it seems to have defaulted back to the ethos of Professional level, every team playing the same and sitting back only to score with almost any shot on target they can muster.

Not fun. Don't know why the game seems to have changed so much in the final third of the season.

Ouch, teamvision at its' "very best" regarding the formations

As for the form drop, could it be related to coach levels? Crappy coaches -> bad form by the end of season?

Don't know, my coaches are near on top level, so it's baffling. Morale is good, it just seems to be targeting all my best signings which is really annoying. But if any of them are on, say, green before the last few games, they'd still suddenly feel like oil tankers too. Valbuena is terrible at the moment, he's a French international and when he gets up against a full back he just gets brushed into and he does that annoying stumble animation almost every time someone touches the guy.

It's all happened since yesterday when I thumped someone 7-0. Since then, bar one win, my season's falling away somewhat. And yeah, those formations are comedy gold. It's like playing the cheapest online players the internet has to offer.

Yea but the "red area" in League standings covers the 5th, 6th and 7th, not the 8th. I'm not supposed to play the EL next season.

I play loads of offline ML top player 15 min matches, at the start of the season the AI plays very defensive but in the second half of the season they play attacking. Sometimes the AI switches to 3 holding DMF's when they go 1-0 down what the fuck is that, damage limitation at 1-0.

I love the fact the AI changes tactics, but there needs to be more logic and variation.

One thing which does nag me on ML is that fucking 4-1-4-1 formation with no defensive midfielder and two attacking midfielders.

it makes certain teams rather easy to score and create chances against.

Agreed although I enjoy the extra space especially playing in broadcast where it can get very crowded, I come across variants on this formation in the CL against average sides.

Here's my Inter team in my fourth season, 2 league titles and a CL so far.

GK - Viviano
DL - Criscito
DC - Bocchetti
DC - Ranocchia
DR - Santon
DMC - Poli
MC - Bacinovic
MC - Isla
AMC - Ozil
FC - Erdinc
F - Pazzini

Anyone working with ML defaults pick up Sturridge and train him into CF I got him for a Transfer fee and training fee of £2.3million.. He's lightening and with a little work on shooting can finsish anything, beautiful player! :)

Here's a tip; never, ever, ever take on Fatecha from the youth team. His stats say 75 overall, yet he is complete and utter trash.

Seriously, I just lost yet another game 3-2 having lead 2-1, both the second and third goals conceded were a weak shot and an even weaker header that went straight at Fatecha, both times he managed to try his best to dive 'over' the top of the ball and get out of it's way. Both times, despite being able to catch the ball, dived and let the ball deflect under his leg and it went in for a goal. So yeah, it's pretty galling to have lost six or seven games in the last 15 or so despite having 14 or so shots to their 3 every match, and their keeper pulls off blinding saves and my keeper actively gets out of the way of the ball. It's pathetic.

With him and all my default ML keepers, I can't remember the last time they made a good save. 99% of all shots, no matter how weak, they let in, and those they manage to save they pretty much try their best to let it in.

Seriously, my keepers have cost me 6 or 7 defeats simply by doing nothing and letting in the two or three shots the AI manage in the whole 90 minutes. Anyone else find this?

Why not Joe Hart? He's rated at over 80. As for De Gea, I've considered signing him from what other people have said, though like Klash says, 75 or so isn't that great. Does De Gea have some player cards or something? I've never thought about that when searching for keepers, but I reckon GK player cards could really make the difference.

Either way, if my keepers let a weak shot deflect off the underside of their outstretched leg one more time I'm not gonna be happy. The last game it happened twice, which cancelled out two absolute scorchers from Affelay :(

Also, is there a setting to keep players from going up for corners? I want Palmieri and Schmidt up for them, but when the AI clears the ball sometimes there's no-one at the back whatsoever.

De Gea doesn't have any skill cards, but his resposiveness and body balance stats are rather higher than his overall suggests and it seems to me resposiveness for keepers is how quick they are to react to shots and body balance is strength, and so that would mean whatever part of the body they get on the ball the stronger they are the more likely they are to keep it out? That's my theory anyway

And Joe Hart just seems useless, I played against him vs Man City he let 4 goals in at his near post! Useless English keepers!

Though a little side note on my ML, I'm in the ENGLISH Premier League, yet in my 18 man match squad I have 1 english lad Sturridge and 1 welsh lad Tomkins, and 4 Spanish lads, De Gea, Montoya, Oriol Romeu and Pelaez! Oriol Romeu is however probably the biggest bargain so far, bosman transfer and already hitting 71 from 66! When buying players, set market value at £500k maximum, you can get some real bargains, and in the first week of february look for players with only 1 year left on their contracts and saying "this player has put contract negotiations on hold" you can get the next star for free or next two nothing following those rules, my current team has cost me £8.5m and most of that was Sturridge, Paloschi and De Gea!

Those are some good tips Taylor, thanks :)

I've finished my first season of ML, I had some incredibly annoying and frustrating matches towards the end of the season but I scraped through, nipping into the final Europa League spot on the final day of the season. One out of the seat moment happened though in the second from last game, where I needed all three points or else the Europa League spot was out of reach, and was held at 1-1 until 39 year old veteran Minanda came off the bench due to an injury, and duly glanced home a 92nd minute winner to keep Marseille's hopes alive;

YouTube - Minanda.MOV

The win kept me in with a shout until the final day of the season, where a convincing win over runners up PSG secured the European place. Dramatic stuff!

I turned a season round from starting with 0 wins from my opening 11 matches, to a final record of 19 wins, 12 draws, 9 defeats. and fifth in the table, level on points with three other clubs and in Europa League place on goal difference.

What I really like about ML is how it manages to have all the league tables reflect their real counterparts. All the teams end up finishing where they pretty much should be, which is ace. Lyon won the league, with PSG runners up. Inspecting the other tables, they're all extremely realistic across the board, everyone finishing roughly where they would do in real life which is amazing IMO.

Despite changing the squad quite a bit, it's the younger players who won though in season 1. Palmieri and Schmidt are solid at the back, especially if you set Schmidt's position to sweeper. Elsewhere, mid season signing Miljevic went right off form for a while but came back at the end of the season and is a huge prospect. But Schwarz stole the show, finishing top scorer at just 17 years old with 21 league goals.

Now for season 2. I'm concentrating on challenging for the French title, and Europa League win if at all possible. I've spent all my money so need to consolidate what I have, earn a bit through being successful on the pitch, develop my young players, and increase the amount the club spend on youth development and the fan base.

During the pre-season, I've signed a couple of the top level £5m coaches - a goalkeeper coach and a fitness coach who specialises in player form. I've also added three players for a large sum of money - Modric arrived from Tottenham for £20m (haggled down from Spurs' £35m asking price that was way out of my price range), 17 year old keeper Perin from Brescia for £1m, and full back Santon for £5m. I want to sign more players, but don't want to go down the rout of signing the world's best. Modric is one of my favourite players and will fit in nicely as a passer/dribbler without being too devastating a la Messi etc, and I've concentrated on using my funds to sign old heads that have been decent at a good level, youngsters I can develop, and good players on the fringes of huge clubs who don't regularly play.

Modric is awesome, in his debut he came on as a late sub and ran the game, the player controls so well, he feels really classy on the ball and can dribble and pass better than anyone I've got. Perin is my new keeper, but at 17 I'm not sure he'll be reliable enough, but his debut saw him actually making some good saves! With him and Fatecha fighting for a place, and my new world class GK coach to develop them, an outlay of just £1m for both is a good deal. And full back Santon is a player I'd totally recommend. He is a beast. Fast, tall, strong, good attacking and overlapping, strong in the air, players bounce off him and on his debut he set up a goal with a strong attack down the right. Brilliant signing, rated at 82 and is just 20 years old. Signed from Serie A.

I'm a bit short up front though, Schwarz and Pavlyuchenko do well but I've let go most of my default ML strikers now, so I need a striker in the mid season break on loan.

So, my team for this season will be;

Perin (GK)
Santon (RB) Palmieri (CB) Schmidt (SW) Ruskin (LB)
Hargreaves (DM)
Modric (AM)
Miljeciv (LWF) Valbuena (RWF)
Schwarz (CF) Pavluchenko (CF).

I also have Affelay as a major player, who is versatile and can play across the midfield or as a support striker. His free kick taking is simply amazing, the bend he can get on a FK is crazy!

On to season 2!

No problems for the tips, learnt from experience tbh
And Affelay, I nearly got him on a free, I got the negotiations right up to agreeing the deal but accepting his terms would have set me back for the season, but Shimizu is turning into an excellent midfielder, and with 7 goals and 18 assists in his first premier league season its looking good!

And strikers, look at Sturridge as before mentioned, his pace is deadly or Paloschi, 18 goals in his debut season despite injury midseason, I also needed back up in attack and so picked up Keirrison and Helder Postiga for nothing at the end of my first prem year, where I scraped a Europa Place and also got the next R.Carvalho in my youth academy from Syria surprisingly!

I do the same when looking for new players. And I try to avoid any player with the Speed Merchant card aswell.

After my amazing "leap" in the ranking of ML. I'm able to buy players who would reject any transfer bid before. I've got some new sponsors and my team market value has increased considerably. So i decided to build a new team.

First i sold my to best rated players: 19M on Azipilicueta to Roma and 27M on Joe Hart to Sevilla (both cost me around 3-4 M euros). Then i basically swapped my reserve LB Alex Sandro by Gibbs and brought Falcao Garcia (82 in overall now), Keane, Jesus Navas, who was reserve in Sevilla, Cassani, Ben Arfa and two young Wingers/ML: K. Simon and Keko (from Liga Adelante)

My team now:

Fatecha
Cassani Palmieri Schimidt Gibbs
........Camacho....M'Vila
Ben Arfa...............Navas
.....Keane....Falcao......

Keane and Falcao have been deadly so far.

LTFC Schwarz isnt the most agile player so if you want another player to join the attack alongside him i would highly recommend Keane. He's not fast and hasn't highest dribbling stats but he has the Goal Poacher card and hes good at shooting from anywhere.
If you want a young prospect there's Lukaku and Paloshi, Sturrigde is good too

Yeah Lukaku is someone I've tried to buy but he won't join me at all :( I hear what you say about a partner for Schwarz, Pavlyuchenko isn't too agile either and he's starting to hit his 30's, and is rated at only 72. He's a good player to play up there, but I would like another striker. Sturridge may be a good shout, Taylor :)

In the first weeks of the season I've set some training cards for certain players, I really like that feature. Miljevic is training for a 'roaming' card (if that's the proper name, can't remember). As a LWF hopefully he'll learn to drift in between the back line of opposition defenses and get into more scoring positions. He's already good at arriving late on crosses, and for a little guy is good in the air.

Again, I can't recomment Santon highly enough. An absolute beast of a full back. Improving this area has given me so much more balance, my default full backs, Ruskin aside who I think is better than his rating suggests, are generally terrible. They offer little defensive cover and can't really attack, so having a 20 year old 82 rated full back adds a new dimension.

The only downside for Sturridge is a drop in overall in CF even after the training, otherwise he's very much the perfect forward.. I always find having a quick striker and a target man is the best combo, having a Schwarz and Paloschi/Sturridge partnership tends to work like a Crouch and Defoe at Tottenham.. Giving a better dimension, in a counter attack play and allowing Schwarz to look for wing players, who can then play it through for the pace of the partner, both strikers will get 10 each, especially with crosses coming in for Schwarz, having a 'poacher' player is useful as well, he can clear up any dropped headers and put them away!

Im in season 2027-2028 and this is my team:

eullpz.jpg

I dont by players who are bigger than 23-25 years old and i sell them when they are 28-30 years old.

michalis01 how many years have you played? And what settings are you on?
Brilliant team though, I guess most/all are youth regens?

michalis01 how many years have you played? And what settings are you on?

I am in year 2027-2028.My settings are:

Level: Top Player
Match Time: 10 min
Negotiations: Negotiate directly
Classic Players: OFF
Player Development: Normal
Maximun Founds: OFF

I dont buy a lot of players from my youth team but when i search for a player i search for one between 15-23 years old, with a minimun 85 overall and with a market value until 2.000.000.So i buy a player with 10.000.000-15.000.000 when he has 85-90 overall and i sell them when he has 95-100 ovella for 30.000.000-60.000.000 euro.

For example i bought Ricardo when he was 17-18 years old with less than 10.000.000 and know is 30 yeas old and i sell him just now to Palermo for 42.133.900.
