Sony PlayStation 3

I aint so sure about that list but hey thats just me.

1. PS3 Software titles compatible? eh? this is a PS3 System so why does it need extra compatibility for games that are written for it!.

2. Wallpaper and XMB Access is stuff they should have included from the VERY beginning and users have cried out for this for months now.

Ah well good to see that Sony is listening to users eventually! How about updating the PlayStation store and including some good stuff rather than the same shit.

heres something interesting about Sony Gamers Day posted at Kotaku:

Kotaku said:
I just got back to Denver from my trip to San Francisco and visiting Ubisoft, EA, Sega and checking out Halo 3's multiplayer, and now I'm off to San Diego to check out Sony's Gamers Day.

The three day event will include, I'm told, a bit of mingling tonight, a whole lot of PS3 and PSP news tomorrow, and a bit more on Thursday morning. There are supposed to be a slew of first and third party games on hand and perhaps we'll be getting some announcements. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and hope for a Playstation Portable Store announcement so I can finally start to buy triple-A movies and TV shows directly to my PSP. Comes on store...

I suspect I'll be traveling a lot more going to events now that I don't work full time for the Rocky. Freelancing has really cleared up my schedule. I've also been asked to become a Game Critics Judge, which means I'll be one of the people helping to select the Best of E3 winners.

I've always been a little confused about how that whole thing worked, so this should give me interesting insight. Last week, was in fact, a way for all of the judges to get some time with a bunch of games. A collection of companies flew out all of the judges to the events, including me. So the process is underway already.

Make sure to check back tonight and later this week for all of the Sony news as it happens.

Good to see 3rd partys at the event. Should very interesting. Apparently the news gets released to the public officially on thursday, which is the same day there is a PSN update. Coincidence?

Pay day at the end of this week too. I'm not too surprised with this date. Its the perfect time to put stuff up on their online services.

Yeah saw the MOH:A trailer just a while ago, and ur right, it does look impressive, not too sure about the "time freeze" thing though, kinda took away the realism factor it imposed on me, watching it the first time.......

Eager PS3 bloggers have taken advantage of a slip up by Sony staff to reveal plans for the console’s next firmware update. Details were leaked onto a press site and quickly removed, but not before they were snagged by a fanboy and stuck up on official forums.

New features those who’ve laid out on the hi-def hub can expect include greater backwards compatibility for their PSOne and PS2 games, ‘theme settings’ and ‘wallpapers’ so you can customise your console and an RSS feature to boot.

According to rumours, gamers will be also be able to access the XMB (Xross Media Bar) while they’re playing, something certain to get the hardcore folks sweaty with anticipation.

The one thing Sony didn’t include was a release date, but with everything now out in the open, expect this firmware update in the not to distant future.

Stranglehold Gets Hard Boiled

John Woo's upcoming Stranglehold video game will deliver a one-two punch for the Sony PlayStation 3 when it is released this summer. In addition to the game, which continues the story of Inspector Tequila (Chow Yun-Fat), a PS3 collector's edition ($70) of the game will also include a full-length remastered high-def version of the 1992 film Hard Boiled, the Hong Kong action film starring the character.

PS3 games are stored on Blu-ray discs, which can hold up to 50 Gigabytes of video and game content. A new 15th anniversary DVD will be issued this summer, too - the DVD has been out of print for several years. The game will also be released for Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Windows PCs.

Director Woo (Face/Off and Mission: Impossible II) says, "Stranglehold will allow people to actually be Tequila, taking out enemies using duel-wieldgin weapons and bringing together heart-stopping stunts, vehicle-to-vehicle combat and fluid, seamless gunplay to create an interactive Hong Kong action film experience."

Perhaps even more notable is the fact that, once the game starts, there won't be any loading at all. Everything is streamed directly off the Blu-ray disc (level data, animation, sound, etc) and while such a feat has been done in other titles, we can't recall one that had this much activity going on as it happened.
