GTA IV - NON-SPOILER THREAD

and the races :))

Paul its becuase your going to "call" not "Job"

if you go to call it will go to voicemail, Jobs can be done anytime

Ahhhh... to be honest, I only noticed 'job' on Romans menu... I'll have to check to see if I've got it for Jacob yet.

Thanks for the feedback - I'll stick at it and try to concentrate on the many positives.

For example, the greater interaction with scenery now - a guy will be sitting on a wall and you can twat him and hear the splash a few seconds later :-)

Not sure I'll be doing much of the on-line stuff - roaming the city, having those FANTASTIC lap dances - that'll be more my thing.

You REALLY need to get online, mate. Some might say it's better than the single-player even :)

Just join the Evo-Web party :) I'll send you an invite if we're all playing and your logged on XBL :)

Tell you another thing I noticed I'm doing last night.

Due to the amount of cops around, I'm really loathed to steel or carjack a car! The hassle of being chased down, possible risking getting more stars etc.

I either take a real good look around before doing it, or wait till I find a parked car.

I'm enjoying taking cabs at the moment and avoiding the hassle!

Great I spose that a game gives you this choice - i.e. a lot of people i guess will only want to try and cause as much mayhem as possible - and once dead/busted, then repeat...

I like to stay out of trouble and get on with my business

but when i get bored which is just before i turn it off, i go and spend all my money on guns and go on a rampage :))

Yeah, great points lads - I did find myself keeping out of trouble a lot more than previous versiosn.

Hey - how do you take a taxi ride?

Hey - how do you take a taxi ride?

Call a taxi (for 360 its LB) when one is nearby - Niko will whistle and the taxi pulls over.

Then go over to it and hold down Y and you get in the back...

Very cool :)

Or, like Coopz advised last night, you don't even need to hail one. Just hold Y down and you get in as a passenger.

Probably lost on non-Scots, but I love how Rockstar North have used the names Vlad and Roman as a p take in this game(the hap-hazard Lithuanian owners of Hearts fc).

Previous Edinburgh references in GTA were Leaf Links Golf course (Leith Links in Edin) and the Forth bridges in San Andreas (can't recall their in-game names).

Like a few others, I've also had problem getting the on-line element to work. Will give it another bash tonight after the Champions League- cheers

:lmao: Is that Hearts thing actually based on them or just a coincidence?

Don't know for sure tbh but I'd be very surprised if it wasn't given that Rockstar are Edinburgh based as there have always been previous local refrences. :DD

I had some slowdown while playing this yesterday, it was literally only for about a minute, and was right after I'd turned the game on, so I'm thinking maybe the stuff wasn't entirely cached to the HDD on 360?

oooooooo i dont know about that ;))

i bet we can get a big evo-web crew together tonight

Cannot wait for Edge's - 6/10 review...

Ive noticed people are saying this game is simply a 'slight graphical upgrade'. I don't understand how one could even say that! Every single building is unique and detailed and every little thing has been remade. San Andreas had flat buildings with blurry textures that all looked identical!

Agreed Milanista, the attention to detail on this is immense. For example, if you manage to zoom into Nikos face, you can see wrinkles, dints where scars are and etc... And that's just one example. I think this game proper makes use of the PS3's & Xbox's power

Graphically I think it's fantastic, but I'm still massively underwhelmed by the miniscule amount of shops/buildings you can enter, it's like less than 0.5% or something, first two "islands" alone there's maybe 20-30 places you can enter, IMO that's shockingly poor.
