FIFA 10 NG Improvements Thread

They should add "Potential" to that, for example at a certain point Rory Delap can't improve while Walcott can.

My post from the other thread:

My opponent gets a free kick, say, 30-40 yards out, and the game makes me have a two man wall in front of it. Who's in this wall? BOTH my centre-halves, leaving completely exposed if the ball is floated into the box.

Sometimes, the cut-scene for being booked just doesn't happen, I had a man sent off the other day, and didn't realise until half-time when Andy Gray mentioned it

Exact same thing happened to me recently as well, got a second yellow card by a player I didn't know had already been booked.

I think the should really revamp the manager mode. has been the same since 2007 and bring back the siming where you could jump in if you were losing.

They should also fix the way you can offer all your players new contracts at half the wages the were on and they all accept them like morons!!!

I've been informed that the feature set for manager mode is already finalised so pointless suggesting any of that for Fif10, and no I don't know what it includes and am unlikely to find out before anyone else :)

Well, if they base it on the FIFA boards, all they added was some new camera feature and as many boots as will fit on the disc.

What I want is a manager mode which I don't get bored of after 2 months of playing. Something like the good old Pes Master League which I could play for months and years with the same save without getting bored of. I think they should put more work in they're single player offline mode. Its quite good as it is now but there needs something little which doesn't make the game boring after a little play.

:CONFUSE: I like some parts of PES and the ML but it's not real, FIFA needs to keep down the SIM route, proper full leagues, if anything I'd love a separate add on game that has all the Uni-bond and lower leagues and you have to start off with three blokes and a dog watching your boys, who's idea of training is swapping drinking arms...
Seriously though an add on game with the Conference and lower teams would be great...

Here are my improvements. Ive already posted these on the EA forums, thought id post them here also. Sorry if some have already been mentioned in this thread.

Gameplay

- Fix the advantage rule

- 16 directional player movement or 360 degree movement if possible

- Make the CPU better at free kicks. I don't think ive conceded a free kick in over 500 matches against the CPU. From around 35-yards or less, Top class free kick specialists such as David Beckham should have dip, power and swerve on Worldclass difficulty and actually aim to the side of the keeper and not straight at him. On lower difficultly levels such as Professional they should still be dangerous but not as much. They should show variation also, so sometimes they bend it over the wall and sometimes lay it off to a team mate to strike it.

- Fix the bug in which the CPU occasionally waits ages before taking a Goal Kick or Free Kick.

- Make it so you can move your wall from side to side when facing a Free Kick.

- When facing a Free Kick make it possible to have full control of your Goal Keeper and have a view from an in-goal camera so you will see the ball coming straight towards you like a Goal Keeper does in real life. Also you can position your defensive wall first, then dive in whatever direction you want. More details on this here

- Have a specific button combination to curl the ball with the outside or inside of the boot. so if we want to do a 30 yrd curling pass with the outside of the boot across the field we can.

- Make the CPU teams use skill moves especially on higher difficulty levels such as Worldclass. and of course the better the team is, the more likely they are to do them.

Graphics

- Improve the player models. In Fifa 09 they look to glossy.

- Have more individual animations for the fans in the crowd. 09 was a very good improvement from 08 in this area but they still look to synchronised

- Make the Stewards and Cameramen on the touchline animated so they move occasioanally

- Real ad boards. ie, AIG, Samsung, Northern rock, Vodka Kick, etc.. would give the game an extra layer of realism

- Include the Night feature for every Stadium in the game if possible.

- Under-soil heating. Most English Premiership teams have this. This could be a factor in the game so snow and ice are efficiently melted from the pitch in certain Stadiums that have it and if your playing in a lower League stadium which doesnt have Under-soil heating, the pitch should look more snowy or icy.

Manager Mode

- Have the League play-off final and FA Cup semi finals at Wembley Stadium

- When you draw an FA Cup match before the semi final make it goto a Replay instead of extra time/penalties with the Replay being played mid-week at Night.

- Have a Goal of the Season feature which chooses the Top 10 best goals from your games and the games which the CPU have played.

- Weather Effects in Manager Mode and mid-week Night matches occasionally

- Make it so you can change the EA Trax in Manager Mode without having to Quit MM

- An alternative team sheet in Manager Mode. So when your starting 11 is very tired or your playing in a Cup match for example you can select that team sheet without having to change each player in your squad individually each time.

- CPU teams should change their starting XI occasionally, especially when they have just bought a player.

- CPU teams priorities. In real life, the Carling Cup isnt a high priority at all for Manchester Utd as they often put out a weakend side especially in the earlier rounds. This should be reflected in the game, so when you play Man utd for example in the "English League Cup", they field some of their reserve players.

- More realistic player growth. In Fifa 09, players who were originally around 80 OVR, can get a 95+ rating after just a few seasons. This needs to be toned down a lot.

- In "Manager History", have an option to view the match Results from your previous seasons. This would be a nice touch.

Commentary

- Less Generic Commentary. ie, instead of saying 'this team' make the Commentator say the teams name instead.

- If your playing a game which would clinch the League title if you win it, the Commentators should mention this at the start of the game and discuss the huge importance of the game.

- Make the Commentators know your season, ie. if a certain striker on your team doesnt score until the 9th game of the season, the Commentator should mention this and say how relieved he will be to finally get off the mark.

Training

- A full Training mode where you can practice corner routines, free kicks, passing, skill drills, etc... in the Stadium of your choice.

- Make it so you can use the plastic wall in the Arena to practice Free Kicks with. Dribbling Practice- Have a mini game in the Arena which allows you to put cones exactly where you want. ie, walk to the spot and hold down X to put down a cone or you can just use the default setting so the cones will be placed automatically.

Editing/Creation

- Have an option to edit the unlicenced Tournament names such as the 'ECC', 'EFA' and 'English Cup'

- A "Create a Team" and "Create a League" feature which would allow Fifa players to Create teams and League's then upload them to share them with the rest of the Fifa Community if they want to.

Other

- Saved Goal Replays to HDD feature.

- Different variations of pitch sizes.

- Different types of netting. ie, drooping nets for lower League teams.

- Pitch Detoration. If your a lower League club especially your pitch should show detoration from one match to the next. and the detoration should be noticable in the specific areas which players have been running or had plently of hard slide tackles

- For Stadiums such as 'Anfield' move the crowd closer to the pitch

Online Clubs

- Fix the bug where some matches take the real teams stats, instead of every team being the same, (85 each player)
- Fix the bug where if substitutions are made in some stadiums that everyone gets disconnected from the game
- Add a countdown timer (60secs max), to the initial lobby, (where you first see your opponents)
- Add the ability to create yourself as a BAP player and sign up for your online club, (so you could really have you and your mates as a team)

Personally I find it pretty ludicrous that you say Fifa's manager mode bores you after 2 months, yet PES' ML which is far simpler, far less involved keeps you happy for "months and years", ML was boring as shite, start in the 2nd division, one promotion the first year, then just competing against the same few teams in the exact same competitions over and over and over with no club movement, utterly boring, no challenge even on the highest difficulty..........

I still play the Manager Mode every day and have stopped the ML after 3 matches...so i don't think you can say that FIFA's Manager Mode is boring.

I think they should try to steal a litle bit of the litle additions in Football Manager which make that game very immersive. It's all about litle touches: for example a team of the week in your league. The fact that you can watch the rankings in other divisions and coutnries (unless i missed something in FIFA...), the mind games between coaches and the transfer rumours...these are litle touches that would be very welcome in a mode that is already very good and immersive...
I think a manager mode is not only about the gameplay (which of course is very important). The only thing that i still prefer in the ML above FIFA's Manager Mode is the fact that players still "feel" more different in PES than in FIFA...that's the one thing i would like to see changed in FIFA10...all the rest is bonus...but that one would make it splendid.

How about, and this is just an idea so just wanted to see what others though, an 'appeal' button?
If you thought a player was offside, the player you're controlling puts his hand up and the ref might give it. The same could happen with throw ins, fouls & corners. Maybe it could be scripted so that the chances of it being successful are 1 in 50.

Also, some crowd interaction would add to the 'feel' of the game, though I don't know if it's possible - for example:

- Away team keepers get jeered when taking goal kicks or the ball is passed back to them.
- Away teams are booed / whistled at when taking a penalty or direct free kick.
- "Ole's" when a team strings 20 passes together, maybe followed by a cheeky boo if / when they lose possession.
- Chants are louder after a goal is scored - would be even better if individual teams & players had their own chants ie Rooney, Ronaldo, Gerrard etc.
- If a player has the ball (and is facing the goal) about 30 yards out, you get urged to 'shoooot'.

I would love to know what it is with Modders and boots, are they all foot fetishists or what...?

I think these kids get the footy mags and see all the different boots and go "wow, if I play FIFA with green boots I will actually be on the pitch!"

It's a tad sad really... we want real improvements, they want colored shoes.

They would be good the sound needs a lot of work but really does make a big difference in the game...

What's sad about some of these thoughts are that they used to already be IN the game. When you were 3 goals up, the Ole's would start ringing out. When Ruud Van Nistelroy scored, the crowd woudl chant RUUUUUD.

I think some of these little things that were once in the game but are now out are what makes people upset. Keep building on previous years without removing features unless they just totally sucked.

You could even have team specific DLC, as some teams ie United, have quite specific chants compared to a lot of other English teams (how's that for an incentive EA?)

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. The reason I mentioned it is because it's all very nice having a player who looks like his real life counterpart, but it's spoilt slightly if they have generic green & blue or whatever EA boots.
I loved being able to edit things like this in previous PES's.

Does it make me sad? Maybe, but it's another little touch that adds to the look of the game.

The ability to HOOF the ball out of play or into your opponents half when under pressure, rather than prodding the ball into the path of an opposition striker therefore setting him up for a goal.

no cutscenes whatsoever, there is no need. the ref and linesman are on the park. everything should take place in the ingame camera. when a sub comes on the camera should just turn to the halfway line and a fourth official the same as the ref should hold up the board etc.

bookings and talking to's in the same camera too. this would improve the flow greatly and cut the need for shit bad looking cutscenes.

also weather needs improved, more in depth mm mode, why not include fifa manager stuff in the game.

and finally I'm a net freak, so I would like different styles and baggier nets for that burst the net feel.

That would be great... I take it it's a lot easier to go the cut scene route programming wise...

Not sad, but there are already a large variety of boots in the game to choose from. I guess we need the pink ones though...

I know we have it in as 'distant shots should have less lift', but can we add in BOLD Power does not=lift.
The shooting straight up thing every time is fast taking over the AI clipping as my most annoying part of the game...

Is it just me, or does pulling the direct opposite backwards direction to where you just aimed (if that makes sense) the moment you let go of the shoot button, help keep your shots down?
