:applause: 5 out of 5 and group winners. Can't really ask anymore than that can we?

:p kinda fudges over the last 'victory' a bit tho doesn't it? :)

We've won some ratty games in the past but I was almost embarrassed to celebrate Pires' penalty last night. Their goal was perfectly good, fu*k knows why that was chalked off :mryellow:

Seriously though, it's yet another example of how football is gagging for goal line technology. What if Thun don't get the UEFA cup spot because of losing last night? That's a lot of money to any club but it must be a near fortune to a club like Thun.

Blatter and the rest of these crusty old fart traditionalists at FIFA need to wake up to the 21st century.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Thun 0-1 Arsenal

Lol, yeh we were well lucky. I was a bit embarassed too.

I thought Eboue played well and I'd rather see him playing than Cygan.

If i didn't know better i would say your Swiss! You seem disappointed.

Arsenal have not been lucky in the past but now its looking positive, we're finding ways of winning even when we're not at our best.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Thun 0-1 Arsenal

I'm just saying, this game didn't matter to us but it meant a lot to Thun. I think it cheapens the victory a bit if you know you've benefitted from some blind referee madness.

How many offsides as well? We had a few flagged in dubious circumstances.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Thun 0-1 Arsenal

I don't think goal line technology would have changed that goal it was just piss poor linesmaning (I think I've just created a new word!).

I just hope we don't get luck in those types of game and then get the opposite in the latter stages!

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Thun 0-1 Arsenal

Fecking 'ell, I big up our achievement of winning the group with 100% record and get slagged off!!

We have had many bad decisions go against us in the past, that is the way it goes, thats life, thats football. This time its going our way, I couldn't care less how we win as long as we do. Long may that continue.

Eh? Wasn't slaggin anybody bruv.

A win is a win no worries, but can't help but feel a little bit of sympathy for the little team who might get robbed their UEFA cup spot.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Arsenal 3-0 Blackburn

Wait until you see Van Persie's goal :applause: unbelievable, beats two players and then from a tight angle curls one in on his left foot off the post, its sublime!

Blackburn played quite well but we had too much quality.

Henry now has 100 Highbury Premiership goals  .

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Arsenal 3-0 Blackburn

Great finish by Van Persie and it was good to see that that cheating cunt Savages attempt at a trip didn't come off.

The way savage reacted to having his gay hair touched by Jose was embarrasing! He thinks he's a hard midfielder, yeah right!

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Arsenal 3-0 Blackburn

It was a beauty, he looks more dangerous every game he plays. Surely not long now before he's a starter. If Henry does decide to ship off then RVP's rapid development could soften the blow considerably.

I've never hated a footballer as much as Robbie Savage, he's gone to new depths of cuntishness. Thankfully the ref was wise to his pansy rolls on the pitch.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Arsenal 3-0 Blackburn

What a C*nt savage is!

Saw his house on cribs, crap house, crap hair, crap wife, crap clothes, crap crap.

Never have seen a footballer get by on just running around a pitch trying to trip people up, clattering into people, and just hoofing the ball.

Wish Roy Keane had a go at him... would have done us all a favour. The muppet.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Arsenal 3-0 Blackburn

Anyone else goin to Higbury tonite? It's feckin cold out but I feel obliged to go when ever I get the chance these days, won't be there next year :(

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Arsenal 3-0 Blackburn

The Times' Matt Hughes on last night's result:

"Such was Arsenal’s superiority that Wenger felt secure enough to introduce Pascal Cygan, perhaps hoping the youngsters could teach this senior citizen a thing or two. They may be good, but it is unrealistic to expect miracles."

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Arsenal 3-0 Blackburn

LMAO

That is really funny.

Good to see the kids getting some more experience against a pretty good team who will probably playing in the Prem next year.

Just waiting for the highlights to go on Arsenal TV.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Arsenal 3-0 Blackburn

Lupoli's was tasty, rounded the keeper and slotted from a tight angle.

Hopefully they might show some of Quincy's skills. He was playing on the wing last night and twisted up their full back proper!

I'd never heard of Kerrea Gilbert before last night but he did really well at left back, could be one for the future.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Arsenal 3-0 Reading

November was a good month. If i remember right I think it has been a really bad month for us in recent years. But 6/6 wins, and scoring 3 goals 5 times its been great.

After Cygan tonight, he SHOULD be getting a call up.

This is not going to be our day. Henry hits two shots off the post that would have been GOTM cotnenders and Jasskalinen saves a a tap-in that Pires lives for.

Everybody start praying.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Arsenal 3-0 Reading

Cygan was brilliant today.. f*ckin twat, and for the first time, i must blame Wenger as well for continually playing him in that role!

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Arsenal 3-0 Reading

Looks like our usual dismal November may have kicked in late.#

Seriously though this away form is not good enough and on the Sky Sports website Freddie has had a moan about certail individuals not putting their foot into the tackles.

Eboue needs to come in a right back and Lauren will have to drop to left back.

If Cygan isn't dropped Chelsea will have a field day on the 18th!

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Bolton 2-0 Arsenal

I hate to finger out one player for criticism but it's REALLY not working with Cygan at LB. Against Wigan he was culpable for one of the goals, Blackburn he was sluggish, Bolton he was out of position for their initial cross which led to the second, and ultimately Faye's headed goal.

I don't think he's an awful player, at centre back he's good enough to play for most Prem teams, but he's NOT a top quality defender and thus NOT good enough for Arsenal. I would honestly rather put a midfielder in at LB for now. The man has zero pace, and that's what the modern full back needs in abundance, eg Roberto Carlos, Gabriel Heinze, Cicinho, Javier Zanetti, Cafu and yes Ca$hley as well (possible exception of Maldini, but I think even he could out-pace Cygan.)

In my opinion it's unfair to play him at left back, as you are asking the man to do a job he's clearly not qualified to do. It's not enough to be a defender who happens to be left footed, the full back is now a specialist position with both offensive and defensive duties, and a LOT of leg work. Cygan clearly does not fit the bill, we might as well stick Almunia up front.

It's not all his fault though, Gilberto was weak on Saturday. He's a valuable player, but in Arsenal's current state he has become invaluable. He has no competition for his place (Song? Your having a laugh, maybe with 4-5 years more experience), which is never a good thing. What's worse is that he can be inconsistent in a position where consistency is key.

Dear Santa,

Please send me for Xmas a new central midfielder who can also play left back, and striker... or maybe one of each. I have mostly been a good boy, but my use of unholy language has increased markedly since Ca$hley and Gael were so cruelly taken away from us. I worry that if we are not properly guarded, Robben/Wright Phillips/C.Ronaldo/anyone else with two legs will consistently have field days on our left side, my profanities will continue and you will have to send me a big lump of coal next year as a result. On second thought, perhaps that will be a better option at left back over Cygan?

Lots of love,

Joystick x
