Sony PlayStation 3

Guys Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo is now available to download from the US or Japanese store!

Yeh definately seems he was nudged out of the door. IMO he didnt mess up with the PS3, unfortunately it was the price that hurt it. I think if it came out £100 cheeper it would of been a huge success.

By the way everyone should go out and buy the new OPM magazine. I think it comes out on Wednesday. Its got a HUGE preview of GTA IV, with new pics and game details. Its also got a nice indepth report on Little Big Planet, and finally its got a feature on the new Ratchet & Clank game on PS3.

Also next month it has the first preview of a nextgen football game on PS3. The teaser pic shows the back of Rooney so it obviously means it will be Fifa 08.

Next month is also the same time they start to give away free bluy ray demo discs.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago. Its nothing special.

OMG you're joking right?! On a big HDTV, it was brilliant. Really enjoyed it and I'm definitely sold on HD movies after that - it felt genuinely like the cinemas. Can't wait to get Spiderman 1 & 2 :D

PS3 - £359 for this weekend only!

Adonis, gotta get that Ninja Gaiden demo! Can we also download the available PS1 games from American stores too? Is it possible to access US & Japanese stores without deleting my UK store account?

Yeh you can use any account and access whateva store its part of. All you have to do is create a new user then register as usual.

The only problem is purchasing items from different stores. Theres no way of buying from stores other than the European one. Its a shame because the Japanese and US stores are so much better than the European one in terms of content.

Best thing to do it register to the US one for now. Put in a fake address. Its easier because its in English, I had to follow a guide to register my Japanese one!

Do you know what, I have to put them on now, because if they win and I didn't use them, I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever forgive myself.

(Which is the whole reason I play the lottery - once I'd played it, the missus says "what happens if one week you don't put them on and the next week they come up? You'd kill yourself wouldn't you?")

hurray for Casino Royale coming today

that means along with X-Men 3 (free in GS with the PS3), it's now £50 worth of HD movies for absolutely nothing.

So much better than shelling out £130 for a seperate player before I can get them

What kind of compatibility does a HK version have? I've seen a few on eBay with people saying it plays PAL PS2 games like a UK machine, but what about Blu-Ray etc?

Played Resistance online for the first time, last night... pretty good with zero lag AND it's free... have to say the game is pretty good value!

Also played and enjoyed the NG Sigma demo. The Hot Shots golf game is excellent, and is one of those chill-out type of games.

Very much enjoying my PS3 now!!!

Btw, I am in HK... anyone want to buy my Fight Night Round 3 & Virtua Fighter 5 (+ NTSC Anniversary VF disk) from me for 45 quid all in?

Am i the only one that thinks Resistance is a pile of crap, looks like something on the PS2.

I thought that at first, but then with a HDMI cable, and especially online (strangely), the textures are sharp, and considering theres 40 people online, having no lag or glitches (like GoW), is a pretty good achievement

So what happens now with him stepping down?

I really think the ONLY think Sony has to do is better explain the cell processor to developers at this time. Like kojima should talk to say the Winning eleven dev team and etc.

This is the only thing that i see hampering the Ps3 success the fact that dev need to understand this new maybe even better technolgy.

example. EA needs to dev game on PS3 first THEN port to 360. apperently it's been stated that the PS3 acts a better starting point for games then a PC related engine like in 360(which i have so i am not bashing..heck i even have a Wii-and the wii i would bash if i didn't have to stand in line to get it like some crazied idito at 5am in the morning)

The PS3 seems like something thats gonna take time to get used to. I didnt believe in it at first but I now get this feeling that things are gonna be very different in another 3 years. And I think its in Microsoft's best interest to really bury Sony if top releases so that its too late for Sony to come back.

My view on the 360 v PS3 stuff is that the winning console will be the one that has the most games on it. Exclusives come and go, whether they're massive or not (although I think Sony will win in that department, I think MGS is a "bigger" game than Halo). Choice is what matters at the end of the day.

I've always had PlayStations and never looked at the others, simply because I had hundreds of really good games on the PS2 that stood the test of time and that I could always go back to. It wasn't like that on the other consoles - but last year I got a 360 and I was delighted with it, I really was. So far there's ten 360 games that I like, though, and if the PS3 develops the way that the PS2 did, then I think that, again, the PlayStation will have tons of great games and be the better console. But as you said RuneEdge, it's going to be a while before it happens (this time next year we'll know the score a little better).

Oh i think this Time the high Price of the PS3 and the stupid Position of Sony(see LIK-SANG CORP.)will make think not so easy!
The 360 is a good and cheap masshine, also X-boxLIVE and the customer service are superb!!! I hOpe Sony gets this Time a big Asskick!!!

Someone said to me what will be a factor is the sales of GTA IV. That way we can assess what console has the upper hand. If GTA IV sells much more 360 we can determine how much the tide has changed. I know rockstar plan to use Blu Ray to its full capacity, but noones too sure how. imo it will have a bigger library of music(radio stations etc), but thats not notible. Could the fact that every PS3 has a harddrive be a factor?

IMO Id rather play it on 360 because it has the analogue stick in the perfect place, but with everything else I prefer the sixaxis.

I just wish Microsoft had made the Elite version better in every single way. They should of made it quiter, they should of made the power pack built in & thrown in built in wireless connectivity. A more complete console would appeal to me more, as in that respect the PS3 is awesome.

Oh, and we've recieved info that the 80gb PS3 wil be on the market very soon. Its turned up on the 'Virgin radar' news report all stores get. I reckon the 60gb will get a price drop, and the 80gb version will replace it with the £425 price tag. Around September/October would be perfect timing.

To be honest I'm dying to invest in one, but I just can't justify the price tag. Even if it did the washing-up for me I couldn't lay out that much cash. I got a Wii to try and take the edge off wanting one, but in truth it can't hold a candle to the 360. It's innovative but nothing takes advantage of it and really sells it, it just feels like a gimmick - you play it and you find yourself thinking "when does the ACTUAL game start?" I'd sell it and try and make a profit from it, but then I'd be kicking myself when Super Mario Galaxy is released. You can feel it has potential, it just needs an inspired title.

But what cements a console in my mind is how many good games there are for it, rather than which console had the best single game or games - if that makes sense (quantity rather than quality, which I know sounds weird, but I'll try to explain). Even now, I can flick through my PS2 games and find something I'd be in the mood for playing. Metal Gear Solid, Buzz, FreQuency, Amplitude, Guitar Hero, WE (the old ones at least), Ico, GTA, Mercenaries, The Getaway (1&2), Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Herdy Gerdy (remember that?!), even the old Crash Bandicoots. The PS2 is without doubt my favourite console, even if I am now playing the 360. And yeah, you could say "but the PS2 has been out for seven years", but the original Xbox has been out for years and I just didn't like it at all. Nowhere near the same amount of third-party games as on the PS2, and I reckon they tend to make the best titles.

On the 360, Gears Of War was great, Rainbow Six was too, UEFA CL showed what next-gen can do to a game. Nothing else has really "hit" me so far - and again, although I realise the 360 hasn't been out for seven years, the PS2 was still grabbing me at this point of it's life more than the 360 is, and nothing on the PS3 release list looks like it's going to "hit" me either, bar Metal Gear Solid 4.

You mention some awesome PS2 games there, and I totally agree with where you're coming from.

The 360 has such an amazing lineup this year its incredible. Games like Forza 2, Bioshock, Mass Effect and ofcourse Halo 3 are going to be huge and sells loads of machines.

Comparing to PS3 though its not as bleak as you might think. With Heavenly Sword and Metal Gear this year, along with Ninja Gaiden Sigma and the new Ratchet & Clank game its going to be a strong last part of the year for Sony.

What they need to do is start using the Blu Ray properly. They've not showed any benefits of including that with the PS3 as yet. If they do release the 80gb soon I can see the 60gb model going down by between £50-£100. In the run up to Xmas that factor could be huge.

As fun as the Wii may be, I can't see motion control as being the future of video gaming. It didn't work before, and I don't see it working now.

As much as I love Nintendo, their ethos of graphics not being important is putting the games industry back one step.

As the market stabilizes, with people soon realizing the Wii to be nothing more than a second console, it'll be a big battle out between the 360 and PS3.

I have a Wii and hate it. PERIOD

I like the 360 but the controllers clunky.

I JUST got a PS3 and feel at home with it. I really hope that a good soccer game comes out for it as Fifa and UEFA have been just ok for the 360

My main problem with the Wii.

I agree its a second console, but the success so far scares me as developers will jump on the bandwagon because they can make loads of money with cheaper projects on the Wii. Once thay start putting their A team on Wii games the true nextgen versions will start to suffer.
