Microsoft Xbox 360

Na i slag MS off because mine broke 6 times. I do like gaming on a 360 and LIVE is cool too. im only going to buy exclusive games on a 360 and the multiplatforms on my ps3 still.

Best of both worlds like you mate

Indeed, thats the best way if you can afford it, each machine has it's great exclusives in my opinion.

The wife got told what her Christmas bonus would be this year 3,000Sek (about £260) games voucher, think it's needed with there being 10+ AAA must buys this year :)

Everyone should check out the free 1080p clip on Zune for Avatar

It looks fucking stunning, especially on a big screen

Microsoft is in negotiations to bring ESPN's sports coverage to the Xbox 360, according to the New York Times.

The newspaper reports "people close to the talks" as saying subscribers would pay a fee to watch live streams of sporting events. ESPN already offers a similar service via internet service providers. Microsoft could also develop games with ESPN, according to the sources.

There's no word on whether the deal is definitely going ahead, but one source said it isn't "imminent". Any such deal may be exclusive to the US anyway, like the Netflix movie service. And here in the UK, we've already got the Xbox 360 Sky Player deal - take THAT America, how are you going to watch soccer and cricket now? Oh.

does anyone know if I can take my Halo Xbox 360 hard disk out of it's case and then put another higher capacity Xbox 360 drive into its case and use that ?

I remember reading that you couldnt put 3rd party hard drives in (you would be booted from live) but this is just using official MS hard drives in swapped cases.

Rare has announced that Perfect Dark for Xbox Live Arcade will be shown off at a Microsoft press event next week.

Eurogamer and others have been invited to the X10 event in San Francisco, where we'll also be catching up with other first-party and exclusive third-party Xbox 360 titles.

"Everyone at X10 will finally have a chance to get hands-on with Joanna - complete with her remastered visuals and silky 60fps frame-rate," Rare wrote in an email.

The event takes place on 11th February, but coverage will probably be embargoed.

This game has gotta be up as one on the best multi-player games along side Goldeneye. 4 player slo-mo with Slayers, can't be beaten.

Where is the best place to get 360 Live codes now? I see Ebay have stopped allowing people to email the out?

Need to get one today for a mate and really need it emailing asap - and also cheap as chips :)

Cheers!

http://www.live-codes.com/

Strangely enough i ordered some for my mate last night at about 12:30am and they still arrived instantly which surprised me

All the codes may be pre-entered in a database and emailed out automatically to the buyer on confirmation of payment...

Other than that, they are being generated on the fly using a code generator and thats not good news.

The Xbox Live Code of Conduct has been updated to allow gay people to display sexual orientation in gamertags.

Words allowed are "Lesbian", "Gay", "Bi", "Transgender" and "Straight". "Other terms regarding relationship orientation are not allowed," read the updated COC.

An explanation of the new rules may only be available in English, but the changes are effective worldwide. Localisation of both rules and allowed terms are something Microsoft is working on.

"Since the launch of Xbox Live - the 360 version of it - in 2005, the people who were in charge of policy (I wasn't in charge then) made a decision, that they made with good intentions, and that was to cut down on insults and misuse and bad speech - they decided that the expression of your relationship orientation, your sexual orientation, is not going to be allowed in gamertags or profiles," Stephen Tolouse, director or policy and enforcement on Xbox Live, explained to Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb.

"Now, they did make a provision that you could certainly proclaim it in voice chat or you could provide context for why you were doing that. But they decided that for gamertags and profiles that wasn't allowed. And it wasn't allowed no matter what your orientation was.

"As our service has grown - spectacularly, I might add - and become much more social, it's not just about games any more: it's about movies, it's about sharing experiences with your friends. We certainly see now through feedback from our customer base and community that people want to be able to express that stuff," he added.

MS began re-examining gay naming policy on Xbox Live this time last year. Unsurprisingly, the archaic Code of Conduct caused plenty of highly publicised controversy.

On why Microsoft approved the words it did, Tolouse explained: "People are kind of curious why we have a list of approved terms to express this. One of the reasons is that so many of the other terms can be used as insults or are frowned upon by a variety of different people, so we thought it would be best to pick a group of words that we would let people know were OK for that expression and anything else we discourage their use.

"And we absolutely will take action if there's any use of those unapproved terms for hate speech. But we wanted to provide those guides.

"We want everyone to feel free to express themselves in positive ways - again I want to stress that negative speech and hate speech is not going to be allowed. But hey, we heard you and we made a change and I'm very very happy about that," he said.

About time.

Been hit on by straight people on Live, eh...?

Do you get banned for having a third party HDD? I need to upgrade my 20GB but I don't see the point in spending $130 when I can get a larger drive for $50.

I've got one and there were rumors that they would be blocked in an update a few months ago, but everything is fine for me and I haven't heard anyone experiencing problems. Go for it!
