FIFA has very nearly mastered the art of producing a product that generates so much cash through Ultimate Team and having the licenses that they only need to produce a game that has 11 people standing on a field playing something that somewhat resembles football.
So that what FIFA has done in the last 4 years, as for gameplay to me it feels like I play the same game year after year, but with a different annoyance.
FIFA 15/16 (I can't remember which one) had overpowered crossing which the CPU scored from most the time.
FIFA 17 has the really stupid thing where they pass the ball to the striker and he does the shielding thing and will hold off all your team so you can't tackle him and then somehow weave through your whole defence and pass it to an in-marked player to shoot at goal. But sometimes you somehow get lucky and get the ball back.
Recently I saw a FIFA 14 video and I was shocked about how bad the game looked and how bad player positioning was. Player positioning definitely got better.

cash cows = less effort to improve
just played NHL 18 beta for first time, and i would argue it's EA's best sports title..It's not a cash cow. Real simple to see, the more money they make the less effort you see.

Having watched the gameplay footage again I think my issue with it, and I will have to draw direct comparison to the other game, is how between touches of the ball and just general movement it looks like there is a lot of "dead air" and just a lack of at least a look of awareness and adjustment in movement. Lots of straight lines and quick repitition in movements. I am not putting it well at all, but it is what I am seeing while I am not playing. I think that is why I referred to it is unathletic previously.

What is the source of this information? Is there a link? Doesn't appear to be official as is not on the EA FIFA 18 news web site.
There is no news about the addition of either Udinese's and Sassuolo's stadium anywhere apart from this post.

They can at least provide the generic stadiums with an update. Those stadiums are the same like 4-5 years now...

They can add cut scenes of fans entering the stadium, chanting and singing, especially during derby's to create match day atmosphere. Also goal nets for specific stadiums, especially licensed ones like the Bernabeu, or Atletico Madrid's goal nets (deeper goal nets, like Wembley). Just 2 simple things that pop up in my mind to create a life like atmosphere and to give stadiums their own ID.

There have been improvements to FIFA over the years to my mind, albeit incremental ones. I don't want to sound like too much of an EA apologist, but it is hard releasing a game every year with such a short development cycle. I don't think it always serves the game or the customers. In a one year development cycle they can't change too much and have sufficient time to troubleshoot those changes. And given how much the game brings in each year, I think EA also tend to be a bit risk averse with FIFA.
I buy FIFA every other year ATM and was glad to skip 17 and the hiccups with the transition to the new engine.
The dynamic turf degradation/footprints is one of the best cosmetic improvements to FIFA in my mind. The pitch occupies so much screen real estate and it makes every match look a bit different. I'd hate to go back to Konami style pitches that look like carpet with only 256 colours.

Dribbling Animations and changes of direction look super weird to me at the moment. I hope this is just because its an early build and there are some "Filler" Animations missing.

They usually block the streaming ability. We'll likely get a fair few mobile phone videos popping up on YouTube before EA manage to take them down, though.
