That would be pretty awesome.
I'm not sure if there is a way to export to Excel in editors for PES3 and PES4 but it's easy enough after that. It would be good to see how players have developed. Also, I wonder how many players are ever presents in the PES series?
 
you using xls (old office format), opendocument spreadsheet or xlsx (office 2007-later) for the spreadsheet you're making?
 
It would be a later ms xls. For some reason I can't remember exactly what version I have but I will edit this as soon as I confirm it.

Need to purchase a ps 2 slim and the missing games again first though and from the sounds of it I'd have to do it manually.

I'm a bit of a classic player nut and there would be quite a few players I'd be interested in seeing as I always prefer using authentic previous player stats where possible when updating newer games. Although I'm aware even konami make mistakes so I'd have to keep an eye on that. It would be a slow process but it's actually something I enjoy lol.
 
@mattmid: Kind of reminds me of an NBA of football, I like it. I can only feel the pain of the defaults when they realize they'll be in a hyper-competitive league such as that...

@h777: I applaud your project, then we wouldn't have to fire up every single PES game to look at players' stats, and I admit I did that a lot in the past just for fun and like @Titch said, to see how players developed throughout the years.

Just had an idea for a league mode challenge:

- choose at least 2 retro-PES versions, up to an unlimited number. Let's say I pick three: PES3, 4 and 5.
- pick a team that's available in every of those retro-PES versions you chose. Let's say, Ajax.
- Start a league against a number of other teams also available in those versions. Begin with the earliest game, in my case PES3.
- Play out the league with your team in PES3. Let's say I end up getting 43 points at the end of the campaign.
- Once your done with your league in PES3, move to PES4 and again create a league with exactly the same teams. Here's the twist: the points you conquered in PES3 carry out to PES4 (as well as the points from your competitors), then the points conquered in PES4 carry out to PES5, and so on until you reach the last PES you chose for your adventure.
In my case PES3+PES4+PES5 points=total points conquered in the challenge. Don't forget to not only add up the points but the wins, draws, losses, goals scored, goals conceded and goal difference throughout the versions you play.
 
@miguelfcp I'm looking forward to it, I haven't played a ML in a while and I can't remember the last time I played the default option file. Some interesting look teams already. I've got the first 16 done and in place in the editor, not sure if I'll do them all or just the 71 I need for the ML.

It's going to be interesting to see what changes the teams make in the transfer market. Man Utd have Seedorf with Eto'o and Tomasson up front and by a quirk of fate their own Silvestre as well. Man City have Cech, Schweinsteigger and Morientes, Lyon have Riquelme and Carvalho. Again by chance Bayern have ended up with Khan in goal, together with Nesta, Melberg at CB with Van De Vaart pulling the strings in AM. Some intriguing line ups taking shape with a mixture of real quality and some oh well never minds :LOL: Can't wait to see how it shapes up.

That sounds like a great idea playing the same league over different versions.

Nest-Sotra take on 4th placed Notodden at home. Currently 6 places but just 3 points separate the two teams.



Nest-Sotra are forced into changes after losing two of their three best rated players this season to short term injury. Otherwise they have a full squad to pick from bar Bjorlo who is serving a 1 game suspension. Nergaard comes into midfield in Cirak's spot while he fills in for Nesse. Edvarsen takes Rodsands place. Elsewhere a change at Right Back as Haugsdal comes back into the team and Liseth, yet to play a minute this season gets his chance up front as Juvik is given a break.


First Half:


Some early Nest-Sodre pressure that doesn't really amount to anything in the end is stopped by a Notodden break with Mdedule screwing a shot wide of the far post on 13 minutes. Then on 21 minutes Hoven gets clear for Notodden but Sevlik gets down well to save for a corner. Furdal skips around his full back and then gets hacked down from behind for his troubles. He can't continue and Stenevik comes on in his place and is quickly involved, sending in a shot that's saved by the Notodden keeper. Liseth fires a shot over before Stenevik sends in a low cross that somehow missed everyone. Nest defending well but without playmaker Nesse are struggling to get too much going in attack. HT 0-0



Second Half:

A couple of early long range shots from Notodden are no more than catching practice for Sevlik as the half begins. A bit of a midfield battle develops then before the manager has seen enough and brings on Nesse despite him suffering with a minor injury. He's quickly involved and strikes a shot that clips the top of the bar as it goes over. Two minutes later he's involved again threading a through ball to Liseth but the keeper is out to meet him and his shot is blocked at point blank range. Then on 77 minutes a Notodden cross is cleared out to their midfielder Gustavsen. He brings the ball under control, takes a couple of strides forard before unleashing an unstoppable low left footed drive right just inside the post. A great goal. 0-1. A later flurry from Nest saw Nesse arrive late in the box to send as hot wide before sub Dang worked some space and sent in a drive that the keeper couldn't hold but try as he might Dang couldn't get to the rebound first. FT 0-1


A tight game won by a superb goal from Gustavsen which in the end was the difference.


Elsewhere leaders Viking were hed at home by draw specialists Asane. Strommen, Ham-Kam, Sandnes, Sogndal and Jerv all won while in the battle of the bottom Floro came out on top beating Tromsdalen 1-0.



Things tighten up even more with Viking dropping points again and the mid table is getting very congested with just 5pts separating 5th and 13th. Tromsdalen having lost to fellow strugglers Floro appear doomed already.

I forgot PES1 used a different colour format for stats. So reds, oranges and yellows were highlighted at different numbers. Also, you couldn't play Club vs National teams.

You know, I think you are right. We are all very focused on the ML (for a reason) but sometimes just plain cups generally make up for a better experience in the pitch. It's like there is something in the algorithm that makes happen more things in a single match, maybe due to the fact that a short competition needs to have exciting games and a bit of drama. Now of course it's all anecdotal but that's what I can clearly remember from the cups I played not only in Pes 5 but also in 2009 and others.

For the first time in a while, Start play a side below them. Second bottom, Haugesund have struggled to score (5 goals in 9) but have the worst defence (15 conceded) Can Start add to their woes?


Team News

With Sandberg still a week away from fitness the same 11 will start. Haugesund are injury free and their five goals this season have come from five different scorers, only one of which is a striker, which highlights their problem.


First Half:


It's a packed midfield and the opening exchanges are snuffed out at both ends before any real chances can be created. Segberg hits a free kick into the wall on 20 minutes before on the half hour the first real chance of the game falls to Start. Finnbogason does well to hold off his defender and gets in a shot that has the keeper beaten but cannons off the corner of post and bar and away to safety. Haugesund look a physical outfit but one without a real threat in it. Finnbogason charges a clearance down and gets in again but a good save with his feet by the Haugesund keeper thwarts him and it's a corner. Wichne looks to be tripped in the area but the referee plays on. Haugesund get a break but Opdal is out to smother the ball. Skaanes then almost gets in but just over runs it and the keeper gets there first. HT 0-0



Second Half:


Leite of Haugesund fires in a shot that Opdal sees wide before Start almost have a great chance. Skaanes released Wichne down the left his cross eluded Finboggason before dropping to Trygvarrson but the right back is in very quickly to smuggle it away from him and the chance is gone. Then Trygvarrson wins the ball back in a dangerous area and quickly slips it to Finnbogason, he gets a yard on his defender before firing the ball under the on rushing keeper and into the net! 1-0 Haugesund throw men forward but with Aremu playing a blinder in midfield and the defence holding firm they stop them from getting any chances. Start have a couple of breaks the best of which sees sub Aase feed Finnbogason who has his shot blocked by a last ditch slide from the defender. Haugesund have their best chance of the game bringing a diving save from Opdal that he can't hold on to but does get it away from danger. Then on 88 minutes Bringaker on as sub for Trygvarsson gets in a cross that is headed back out to Berger, he puts it in again and it's headed to the edge of the box where Aremu fights for it, wins it and strikes it into the back of the net! 2-0! In stoppage time another cross from Bringaker is headed back across goal where from an acute angle Finboggason drives home a third!! FT 3-0


M.O.M Finnbogason 7.5, Aremu 6.5, Opdal 6.5


A good solid performance against a side that packed very little punch up front although they had their chances.



Elsewhere Molde continue their march up the table with a good 1-0 away win at Stromsgodset. Odd thrash Valerenga 4-1 away in a surprising result. Tromso continue their good form against Sarpsborg who are slipping away after their good start. Bodo win and Kristiansund win away at Lillestrom, whilst Stabaek also get a win. Rosenborg had a tough match away to Brann but again came through it with a one goal win!



Start move up to 6th just 3pts behind third place which is held by Tromso who are on something of a good run themselves, along with Molde who move into second. Rosenborg still lead by 8pts having now taken 28 from 30. Valerenga drop to 7th after their hammering by Odd who move up to 11th on the back of it. Lillestrom are still just 3pts from safety though as under performing Brann stay 13th after getting nothing from a tight game with Rosenborg. Like the three teams below them, goal scoring seems to be the problem.

ML PES 3 update:

Knocked out of Division 2 Cup in heartbreaking 0-1 home leg defeat to West London White, that Fulham team of the early 2000s is quick and skilled.

League stats ML Division 2:

Sticking to only a few moderately decent signings and using many default players is a tough challenge that I think alot of us do, and find it both a torment and joy, pushing us to the limit.

Didn't realise there were enough non-national players in game to give each team at least 20 players in the squad.
Currently going through every team and adding the randomly assigned players. Then I need to sort out the Other League C blank players...

My brother and me play a cup against eachother using all the teams in the game (PES5 originally but now PES2008). We use Exhibition mode. It’s great using teams we wouldnt normally use.

We roll a dice each and the highest roll is the home team and they draw a team out of a bag. We only see eachother about once a month and play about 8 games each time. Sometimes it takes us about 2 years to play.

We are so evenly matched that i think one time i won something like 120 games to his 119 or something like that but there was definitely only one game in it.

We recently started a new one. I would love to be able to post the scores on here but not sure how to upload a Pages document from ipad....any ideas?
 
@Madmac79: PES5 particularly is not an easy game to play for long periods, it can be very demanding: a 20 min match on the higher difficulties is often an ever-moving 3D chess game. I prefer to play short sessions but with adequate lengths (20 min matches seem to be ideal to get the most out of the engine) to be able to keep a clear head and playing a Cup really fits that preference.

@mattmid: All along I thought Finnbogason was the striker who I found out now to be playing for Augsburg, Start's Finnbogason is a younger dude I never heard of.
Also, did you by any chance saw my scouts in your stadium? Opdal fever!

@WhoAteMeDinner: Who are the non-defaults currently in your team?
 
@geeeeee I did a similar thing with my brother-in-law. With Shollym's International teams patch on pes6, we drew out a big cup with all the teams and played co-op as the away team in each tie. We set them up in batches of 32 (playing just one round) I'm not sure if it does make a difference but I just felt if the AI 'knew' it was in a cup match it might make a difference to playing an exhibition game. We usually got in one evening a week and it took us about 5 months to play it out. Spain beat England in the final. We also did it with the classic patch and Man Utd 1999 won that one. We had some fantastic games with the really old sides playing 2-3-5, what absolute end to end games they were! I would love a current manager to use one of the old formations, that would shake the game up.

@miguel I wondered who that guy was in the car park chatting with Opdal after the game! Yeah it's not that Finnbogason, probably a relative though. Off the top of my head I think this one is 23/24.

Nest-Sotra 0-1 Aalesund


An early Aalesund goal when Fridjonsson broke clear and won a 50/50 with the keeper to tuck the ball into an empty net. Plenty of shots (19) for Nest-Sotra but unable to find an equaliser as Aalesund kept them largely to long shots and half chances. A fussy referee (21 fouls) didn't help the flow of the game either.


Elsewere big news at the top of the table as the stuttering Viking lost, losing 1-0 away to Notodden. The chasing pack, Ham-Kam, Strommen, Sogndal, Sandnes, Notodden themselves and Kongsvinger all won. All of which means that Strommen go above Viking to the top of the table! Strommen are unbeaten so far (6-4-0). Defeats for Tromsdalen and Floro again means no let up for them. Asane meanwhile... yep, they drew for the 7th time in 10.

Nest-Sotra drop to 13th just 2pts ahead of Mjondalen in 14th who occupy the relegation play off spot. With Floro three points further back but with their only win being over the hapless Tromsdalen, it would seem neither they nor Tromsdalen will climb out of the automatic relegation places. Nest have only conceded 7 goals in 10 games but have only managed 6 goals themselves as they struggle to find a regular scorer up front.

Ibrahim (Kongsvinger) and Fredriksen (Sogndal) go to the top of the goalscoring charts on 5 goals. 8 players now share 2 assists.

A great win for Nest-Sotra. After a goalless first half with chances at a premium it was Nesse that broke the deadlock right after half time with a good finish. He followed it up with a second, heading in from a corner. Martinsen hit a post with a free kick late on as well.

Elsewhere Mjondalen beat Floro meaning they would have gone above Nest had they lost their game. Kongsvinger drew with Notodden. There were wins for leaders Strommen as well as Viking who got back to winning ways beating Sandnes 1-0. Asane picked up a rare win while Jerv beat Levanger

@miguelfcp Non-defaults are Heinrich (sweeper CBW), Porso (CB) Petruzzi (CB), Lan (LB)
Arellano (OMF) and Dario Silva (FW).

Defaults that make up the other five positions are Kelsen (GK), Espinas and Macco everywhere :DD , Celnili (DMF) and Nachdecal (RB).

That is why I am so disappointed with myself, two Germans and an Ecuadorian and Italian defender and am still not keeping the goals out, which was always my thing.
Unlike in later games, every little error is punished in PES 3. Think playing PES 2010 for a while killed my defensive edge. :SHOCK:

ML United - Season 1 (Mid-Season Update)

As you already know, I'm doing a "kind-of-Originals-Challenge" which only allows me to buy ML newcomers (newgens and regens recently spawned as 17-year-olds) when one of my players retires, for the newcomer to take his place in the squad. Furthermore, I can never sell players or let any player run out his contract without renewing it - and keep on renewing the contract until he finally retires.

This is going to be a tough one. It's extremely hard to get any kind of ML newgens in the first few seasons with the defaults - my PES2009 test save showed me that clearly - and even if we get a regen, chances are he'll only be truly impactful after 3/4 seasons (unless we somehow get our hands in a "big-fish-regen", highly unlikely...) so it's clear: buckle up for a long D2 ride, I don't see us rising above it in the following 5 seasons.
The only realistic objectives for our debut season are to develop our players and to be competitive in the majority of the matches. The first part won't be that hard to accomplish, given we have a few interesting defaults who're bound to become very decent players, particularly Gutierrez, Jaric, Ruskin, Ordaz and a few others who if given adequate playing time will develop into much better players than any ML default ever was. Since we have no chances to fight for promotion we might as well spend our time focusing on developing our younger players as much as possible.
As for the second part, well, we're clearly and by far the worst team in D2, and there's a restricted number of sides that are closer to our level like AIK, for example, or Heracles Almelo. It's easy to promise that our team will have heart and fight until the very end, but the odds really are against us.

I opted to use my 3-5-2 that got me interesting results in the S1 of my test-ML: Ivarov; El Moubarki, Libermann, Jaric; Stein, Van den Berg, Espimas, Ximelez, Minanda; Gutierrez, Ordaz. I chose Ordaz instead of Castolo, otherwise it's bit by bit the team from the test-save. Only this time, it didn't quite work out so well:
- Ivarov began to show more his "Ivarov" side, letting go of his "Buffon" mask. Even easy shots he fails to hold on to.
- El Moubarki is an adaptation to the CB role, as he's a RB. I found that in PES2009 his stats show a more defensive-minded player, and his PES2008 is different: much more attack-minded, but also with much more potential overall.
- Espimas and Ximelez barely had any impact. Worst performances I've seen of them in any PES version, utterly forgettable...
- Van den Berg...meh. Sometimes I forget he's even playing.
- Minanda...oh how it hurts me to put him in this list, but he's a shadow of his greatness out there.

I decided to shake things up a bit after 5 matches and 5 horrible performances:
- Baumann takes El Moubarki's spot in the back-3: Success. He's young, has some potential and at times he can be a rock in the back, showing flashes of a great defender.
- El Moubarki takes Espimas' RWB role: Success? Definitely saw an improvement on the defensive side but Moubarki can't run fast which is a problem.
- Ruskin takes Ximelez's LWB role: SUCCESS. Ruskin was god-awful in my test-save but this time he took over really. He owns the spot now, and he's developing his stats at a great rate.
- Dodo for Van den Berg as a CMF: Success. He was exactly what we needed: a guy who's more than comfortable to do the dirty work alongside Stein protecting our back-3, a task much more adequate for the italian. Also he's attacking well too, which I didn't expect of him at all, at times joining our strikers in the box for a header. We might not have a talented team, but you don't want to face a Stein-Dodo midfield...

It's not as if my changes made us into contenders to the promotion race, as a matter of fact, after completing half of the season we're 8th out of 8.

8th - ML UNITED - 7 pts - 1W / 4D / 2L....7 Goals Scored / 11 Conceded (4th best offense, worst defense)

Though we're just 4 points away from the 2nd place, we're at the bottom. As you can see we've been competitive enough (not a big difference between wins and losses) though we only have 1 win in 7 matches. Glass half full or half empty?

Top Scorer: GUTIERREZ and Sokota (Dinamo Zagreb) - 4, Ordaz 2
ML United MVP race (players awarded MVP of the match by Konami): Gutierrez 2 times, Stein 1
 
@wildwind: glad you asked, I forgot to mention a few details such as the ML difficulty (I chose "very hard", the hardest setting), I don't know if I mentioned but I'm playing in Top Player/15min. As for the teams selected for the ML, I went with the original, automatic selection since I still haven't purchased the ML tweaker on the PES Shop. This means the D1 is filled with a few of the best teams in Europe (mainly Other Leagues A and B teams such as Bayern, Porto, Benfica, etc.) and the D2 has a mix of Other Leagues A and B sides like AIK, Copenhagen, Rosenborg; weaker french sides (Strasbourg, Nancy) and weaker dutch sides like Heracles Almelo.
 
My initial plan to mix up the players is going to take quite a while in the editor so in the meantime as I'm itching to get those ML originals up and running again I'm going to use my Central Europe option file (the one I think you were going to download Miguel?) and let them loose on that.

I'm going for Hard not very hard as I haven't played it in ages and I'm also not doing any transfers in/out just replace when retire so I want to give myself a decent chance of having enough points to see out the first season in case wins are hard to come by. I've chosen Domzale for no particular reason.

My Div 2 Domzale (me), Heracles, Lokeren, Vardar Skopje, Go Ahead Eagles, Lech Poznan, Heerenveen, Korona Kelice

The Div 1 I am aiming to get into consists of Grasshoppers, St Gallen, SV Ried, Partizani Tirana, Austria Wien, Young Boys, Basel, St Polten, Wolfsberger, Salzburg, Altach, Feyenoord, Rapid Wien, Ajax and AZ Alkmaar.


We open the season against Lech Poznan. Well, at least their fans will be turned the other way so won't see quite how bad we are :D

Damn, I forgot to replace Ivarov with Opdal :LOL:
 
Just played my first match Drew 1-1 with Lech Poznan after taking the lead with a Ximelez strike. Libermann was immense at the back. M.O.M? Minanda :D During commentary Peter Brackley said, Minanda, already made a goal today. Enough to bring a tear to the eye :LOL:

Can't believe I haven't played with these for so long.
 
Looking forward to hear about it. I haven't downloaded the OF yet, still need to get PES6 for PC before I do it (only have it for PS2 and PSP).
Wait, you're going to use Opdal? That should be considered cheating! Punishment for it is having to field Lothar or Zamenhof for the WHOLE of your campaign...
 
@miguelfcp No, not really using him, just kidding :D Although after the second game with Ivarov... After 25 minutes Lokeren had hit the post twice had three other shots and he was yet to touch the ball with his hands! Then he finally saved one and parried it into Ximelez where it then bounced back into the net!

@miguelfcp After Ivarov's mistake and you mentioning Lothar I thought, you know what as he is 22 to Ivarov's 30 and there are no player's going to be coming in, I'm going to play the long game and make him the #1 and let him develop.

First game... A couple of good saves and a clean sheet.

Second game... Beaten 4-0

Third game 1st Rnd Cup...
