The Master League adventures thread

Another fine game of football between Perugia and Brescia in the 2nd game of the new season .. .a great opening goal for Brescia but they were robbed of a draw when the ref blew for a free out as Peneranda pounced on a loose ball to score . .never a foul.

Gaizka Mendieta appointed the new manager of Valencia.

A faithful servant to the club where he spent 9 years as a player, Mendieta has vowed to give his all for the shirt once more.

It will not be an easy task for the former fans favourite. The chairman and board expect the squad to be challenging for a place in the Europa league at the very least.

Mendieta and his team must hit the ground running.

After a couple of dodgy 1-0 defeats Brescia were away to Pescara .. .despite going behind 1-0 Brescia stormed back for a 6-2 win .. the pick of the goals .

Too many square pegs in round holes to start with.

Priorities are:

A true anchor man. Kongdobia is actually a box to box midfielder so I need a DMF specialist to shield the defence.

A new LMF. Not one player in my squad is suited to the position (apart from Gaya, who is my only viable LB at present). Santa Mina and Orellano are both more comfortable further forward as wingers.

A new LB and RB to challenge/cover both Gaya and Montoya.

These are all priorities in the market.
If possible I will try to sign a better goalkeeper to challenge Neto for a spot between the sticks.

Sooo only business done before first game of the season so far.....

Maksimović and Toni Lato both go out on year long loans for a total of nearly €2million combined.

West Ham left back Masuaka plays hard ball, with Mendieta failing to secure the Frenchman’s signature after renegotians went sour.

Young polish Anchor man Linnety signs for €11.1million from Sampdoria on a 3 year deal.

Brescia using a compact 4-5-1 lately and it's yielding results. . teams are finding it hard to beat us or score against us . . .makes the game slower and more realistic . .having a player with the hole player card is useful as he can make decent runs through and nick a goal.

You’re not wrong brother. I remember picking up Matias Fernandes all the way back in PES 2015 or 16 and he ended up being my favourite player that year. All because of the nice little runs he would make in behind the opposition back line. Devastating skill card if used right

Omg he was my fav player as well . .fuckin brilliant he was.

Haha! What are the chances.

The elite players aside, for me Fernandes was the perfect example of how PES can get players to feel like individuals. He was always making just the right runs at the right moment and his dribbling always felt a little bit tighter and accurate when it mattered

I used to pick whichever side he played for just to have him on my team for ML .. . Fiorentina for a couple of Pes editions I'm sure.. .he had that extra something and as you said the dribbling, running into space and his passing were excellent. I actually rated him as the best player in the game.

Was by pure chance for me. I picked him up in the early knockings of my foray into the dreaded myclub. Like I said, was my favourite player

Valencia lose opening game of the season 0-3 to Celta Vigo.

Mendieta’s side dominated possession without putting away their chances. With Aspas pulling the strings Celta Vigo were always dangerous on the break. Aspas’s 53rd minute bycicle kick at the near post was the pick of the 3 goals.

In other news....

Valencia send another player out on loan. Left sided winger Nacho Gil off for the year for a fee of €600k.
Los Che part company with 24yr old Rober Ibanez for €2.5million, leaving in search of first team football at Dinamo Zagreb.

Scripted bollocks . . Brescia leading Cremonese our derby rivals by one goal and had the game in the bag . . they never looked like scoring until this in injury time

Its killing me in the game, its got to be fixed by Konami.I find myself dragging a defender back early trying to pre-empt the spammed pass over the top and the unworldly control by the attacker.

If that kind of bullshit happened, say, once in 40 matches... one wouldn't even notice it and it could even feel legit, as shit happens in real life football too, there are plenty of examples.
The thing is, it happens so often in Master League that it really takes away all the desire to play it.

Konami aren't even smart about it. If you're going to script it, script it in a way that it's so hard to predict or anticipate that you couldn't ever even spot a pattern. But no! It becomes so repetitive and obvious that even if you want to look the other way and pretend like it doesn't happen, you still realize you are only fooling yourself!

main reason for me to stick to Professional/Top Player when we play tournaments/ML/BAL , no sense struggling with those scripts

I play Professional and Full Manual-
It's very hard to get used to full manual passing, but I'm slowly getting there.
And the good thing is that full manual passing and shooting FORCES you to slow down, build up the play with short passes and then find the right angle to shoot.

In fact, it seems to slow down the game so much that just yesterday I was thinking of setting the match speed to +1 because it was feeling so slow paced it was starting to feel unrealistic.

And also, I'm pretty sure that when you set passing to 0 assistance, it also seems to affect the AI someway.

Try stick with full manual Chuny .. it's very rewarding when you score a well worked beautiful goal.

Sure!
I've been using full manual shooting for over a month now and I already got very used to it (still having occasional very widely misplaced shots every now and then, specially when there's very little time to think but I'm very good overall).

Swithced to manual passing last week and was having the hardest time and right before I almost went back to PA1 I started understanding how to make it work. So I'm sticking with full manual passing as well.

Forgot to say: You are right Deco, it is very rewarding. Specially when you understand that you no longer need to use the Through-ball button, because you can use the normal passing button as a much more powerfull tool to place very nice through passes. And since Advance Through Balls seems to be broken (for 4th year in a row)...

what do you mean about 'broken' ?

The Premier League it's coming to an end and the fight for the title couldn't be better. Maurinho's Manchester United (78 pts.) runs first with an advantage of 1 point over the Spurs (77 pts.), and in 3rd place is the overwhelming Nottingham Forest (75 pts.), the progress of this team has been simply awesome thanks to their new Dt.

Their play isn't very "offensive" but they know when to attack and how to destroy rival's offensives.
Last deadline day they gived the surprise by signing ex-newcastle Mikel Merino, and what a sign, his passing abilities help a lot in midfield, and his defensive skills has given the back line the security that they needed.
Their Pilar there and captain is Matthias Ginter an ex Borussia Dortmund like Merino who came to the team as the one of the 2 first signings that new manager made along with Felipe Mora, the Chilean forward that came to become the top scorer of this Cinderella.

In the FA Cup their performance has been incredible, after being eliminated last year in semifinals by Chelsea, this year the came back for everything. Last week they got to the final by winning against West Ham, now they're heading Manchester United, last time they gave us a espectacular match that Forest won 3-2 in the last minutes.

It's been a strange year to the Forest, after a bad start, they were fighting in mid-table on their first season on Premier League since 98/99 season, and what a way to get back, soon they started to fight for Europa League places, then for Champions League tickets and now they are aiming for the trophy.

Will 12pm come for this Cinderella, or will they go back to that 80's when Brian Clugh got them to the top of European Football?
By the way there are still games to play and anything can happen on the most entertaining league of the world, the league of creators of football, the Premier League.

When I tried Advanced Through Balls no matter how much (a lot or a little bit) I charge the power bar, the ball always seem to go too far away from the player I'm trying to pass it to. Like it's extremely overpowered and inaccurate.

be sure to not push the dash button when you attempt a trough ball

Valencia 2 - 2 Villarreal

Late drama in this feisty derby as Carlos Bacca strike steals a draw for the yellow submarines in the 93rd minute!

Villarreal had taken an early lead through some shoddy Valencia defending. But Los Che hit back when Simone Zaza nodded in Gaya’s corner from the left. The Italian turned provider just before the break, bearing down on goal he slipped the ball to his left affording Orellano an easy finish past the hapless Villarreal keeper.

This match had everything. Goals, fouls, and plenty of drama. Loved it

Transfer activity all go at Valencia!

Javi Jimenez and Nacho Vidal are the latest youngsters to be sent out on loan by the east cost Spanish outfit. Bringing in a combined fee of €1.1miliion.

Rumours are rife that Valencia are dipping into the English market for blue and red scouse youngsters Lookman and Arnold.... more on that later though.

The big news is that Los Che have pulled off a real transfer coup. Mendieta has persuaded transfer listed Dortmund midfielder Shinji Kagawa to come to Spain. And what a deal! Coming in at €10.6 million (7 million less than Dortmund’s original asking price)
