PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

But why would anyone do that?

Surely it's about playing the game to enjoy the moments not find a glitch and then cycle through each game with a 1-0 win??

This problem makes no odds to me because I will not even attempt to win games on that basis and I suspect Konami and the play testers feel the same!!

You could use it for MLO farming. If you dont want to spend all day playing matches, one could go in, score a quick goal and then sit back and wait until the game finishes while doing other stuff.

The question is not why you would do it, but why is it possible? That just certifies us that there is no urgency from cpu on winning even when they are one down.
The cpu players upfront should be raving to get the ball and try to score a goal.

That just tells you that AI is pretty much the same as last year, one-dimensional with lack of urgency and no awareness at all of the different parts of a game. If they where winning that would be totally comprehensive, if there's a draw and if it's an exhibition match I and the result did not matter then they should go there, and because they are losing they should be chasing the ball like a mad Pepe against Barcelona.

I'm with you but i don't play games to win or to complete them in any way necessary. I just want to enjoy what I'm playing and relax.

I want to see impressions but I don't want to learn about issues i'd never notice myself, it's a pain. Not going to be able to play the demo until thurs morning very briefly either. Not properly until next week some time.

A quick impression.

I'm playing on -1 speed and Professional difficulty. Can't play it on 0 as I think it's fast.

It is definitely an improvement over 2016. A very good and welcomed one. So far a lot of midfield play and interceptions. I like the shooting physics as well. Keeper excellent so far.

im at work till 8pm (cest)! so i might be working when you guys give first impressions on the demo! crazy! ...and sad! :D

Dear me. Just saw that live stream and the Barca human player kept the ball on the edge of the six yard box and put the controller down. Griezmann just stood there behind him making no attempt to steal it back for a free goal. Awful AI.

AI did the same in 2016 too, but only below Regular difficulty. And like someone said before, it has been (ab)used primarily in MyClub GP farming vs CPU.

Was the streamer playing on any relevant difficulty?

Keep your view coming Lami if you get the time.

This is pretty positive for me. Been playing 2016 in prep for the demo and keepers/shooting/physicality in particular i can't look beyond.

If they're much better I can see myself finally playing some PES.

I know you didn't mention physicality but a few others have so hoping it's improved.

how do you feel about the passing assists and shooting variation?

let'm play, guys! :D

Lami, report asap!! ;) all informations are welcome but you know wich topics we're looking for! passing, shooting, refs, AI, keeper, dribbling...

Playing on level 1 passing and basic shooting, -1 speed, Professional so far.

I like the shooting so far tbh even though some say they might be overpowered. Maybe I'm impressed because I'm seeing hard low shots bouncing off the pitch.

I guess the passing sort of feels the same? But I'm seeing far more interceptions than I did in PES 2016.

I've noticed more rebound goals happening, whether off the keeper or the post then tapped in. I hope this is just coincidence and doesn't happen a lot. More variety I'm hoping here.

The sound of the ball coming off the bar is a bit funny, like it's hit wood or something.

Animations could definitely get a revamp. They're very outdated.

Physicality isn't bad at all. At one point I had Suarez battling Cech for a high ball which Cech obviously punched away and possibly punched Suarez in the process (I don't really know. I just heard the crowd roar and Suarez on curled up on the pitch).

I honestly hope the PES team get rid of these outdated animations for PES 2018. They're very archaic and not very fitting now.

Oh and Xbox One's resolution look different. I might be exaggerating but it feels like I'm playing last-gen. Maybe it's my eyes.

Fouls are still non-existent. That hopping or whatever animation needs to go as it's the big reason we don't see many fouls as we should. Plus when refs detect fouls 99% they'll give advantage. Not every situation is an advantage. Should be lowered. Make it so that advantage is only given around the opposition box when clear for a good chance.

This is definitely PES 2016.5. A very football-gameplay-improved and welcomed one. I wish we had this last year so this year we'd have seen something else.

Back to playing!

Thanks Lami, sounds positive enough haha.

I don't understand how they can get some animations so spot on and others so terribly wrong. So of the first touch, pass and shooting animations are incredible and better than fifa. Unfortunately a large number are awful and take away from the visuals significantly imo.

I'm hoping that stupid no-tackle glitch is because the AI was clearly on amateur or novice or whatever. No way was it on an actually challenging setting.

thank you lami for the impressions!

you say some good things and a lot of stuff that annoyed me in 2016! hm... dont know what to make of it. wish that there were more positive things aka things polished from 16!

The only animations that really annoy me are the ones that interfere with gameplay - I've just mentioned an example in a different thread, where (in 2016) the CPU makes a standing-tackle for the ball, and my player starts "stumbling" towards his own goal, but ends up walking so far towards it that it's like he's being escorted by security. Eventually, you're 6ft away from the ball and regaining possession is absolutely impossible.

When that happens on the edge of your box, as you're trying to clear the ball, and your input is ignored for a second (giving the CPU chance to trigger this situation)... It's infuriating.

Fingers crossed that doesn't happen any more (though I won't fully believe it until I've played the ML with a lower "team spirit" than the opponent and still don't see it)...

how are you finding the defending?

For an odd reason I can't change attacking nor defensive instructions in the demo :/

I wanted to change my defense to a high line and compact one.

Why? :/

I just get wound up by the unnatural ones, there are so many that look out of place. Prime example are the penalty animations.

It baffles me that a game developer or anyone associated with making PES can look at penalties and be satisfied, they look awful.

Agree with you though that anything affecting the game more than visually are more of a concern.

Unless you need to turn some sort of "manual tactics" switch on, I can only imagine it's because they're still trying to implement them without breaking the gameplay (or loading it with exploits).

I really hope it's the former and not the latter!

The fact the old stumbling animations are still in, refs not fixed and no fouls has convinced me not to buy it already..the hype and the so called awards keep coming in year on year as the franchise stands still

To be fair mate, I think everyone knew you weren't going to buy it about a month ago (or six). ;)

It's an improvement from the sounds of things. They've chosen their direction (in terms of passing accuracy etc.) and they're sticking to it. I don't agree with it either but there's a lot of good in the game. I'm just hoping the stumbling animations etc. are gone (I've not seen anyone confirm or deny that yet) and the tactics don't lead to exploits.

how are you finding the defending?

Well I've never had much problem with defending in 2016 really, and this is better. But what I can definitely notice is the AI's defense being much better. They don't keep backing off and letting me run through like they did in PES 2016. I like this and it definitely gives scoring more value.

Don't know about manual tactics switch on. I'm just doing what I did in PES 2016 and they're faded out. I can only use some in advanced, and some are faded out in there too like gegenpress. I want to really test these in the demo :/

Btw, don't know if you guys can see this clip, as it's my first attempt on xbone, but I liked this little move :)

I've played in PES 16 yesterday and of course I was mad at referees, when opponent was fouling me all the time and he didn't care and never stopped the game and of course my player got injured. And I was like "DAMN! Please, this has to change in PES 17!".
So accuracy haven't changed? So again CPU is going to have passing accuracy for 95%?
Also I wonder if PES 17 is going to be as easy as PES 16 on Super Star.
