Next Gen Consoles

Did they say cod is a timed Xbox exclusive or just the dlc maps again?

The destructive stuff on cod, sounds good. But then I remember battlefield already has that, and much better, and vehicles, and larger maps... And... I'm not sure why I should care anymore.

Well I guess you'd have had to connect the TV aerial somehow. Sort of like the PS Play at the moment...

I have a Freesat connection which goes straight into my TV, I doubt the XBox will get on with that unless I buy an external box. So I doubt this'll ever be the right choice for me...

I'm a Playstation guy at heart, but I'm still not just being a dick when I say that I think that Xbox One thing looks hideous. It's just a black box with variations of black and gray, straight down the middle. Does this thing snap in half or something? I'm actually a bit nervous now how the PS4 will look, I hope they didn't play it so super-safe like Microsoft and make it look super-dull.

Couldn't give a toss what the thing looks like. It's going in a TV unit and I'll see the front... but there again, there is no need to actually look at it is there so what's with all the whinging about what it looks like? It's a black box. Not really an issue is it? It will play games with good graphics. Anything else I'm not bothered with. If it does the same as now with better graphics for the games and more power then that will do me.

In YOUR house it sits hidden away. In my house it will be viable at all times so the aesthetics are important to me.

Also confirmed that kinect has to be always plugged in/on or the xbox won't work.

I'm not making any decisions until the day I buy. There's so much that's still not entirely clear, or is subject to change until I'm in the market for a new console. Both sides seem to have underplayed the area the other intends to specialise in, and in truth the gap is bound to be narrower than it currently seems. I'm underwhelmed by both, but I don't see either as complete washouts (though I appreciate why some might).

I don't mind the look of the Xbox One. Nice and clean design, it's a fairly unassuming, sleek black box. It's certainly not hideous, if a little on the large side.

Let's wait and see what the PS4 looks like as that may be no better.

hideous may be a strong word on my part. But somehow I prefer inspired-ugly to bland-ugly. The PS4 may well be ugly as sh*t but I'm hoping they go for something a bit more out there.

Why is it called Xbox One though, is it a prequel?

Short for, xbox all in one..?

Will keep my Roku. It's cheaper, small and sexier.

I knew somebody would say that. It's a black box. It looks clean. If your current console is in the place of where you will put a new one, its hardly that different to a current PS3 or XBOX really. So its a bit more rectangular. I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Even if it wasn't in a TV unit (my current 2nd Xbox isn't upstairs) I don't see what the big deal is. I either want one for the game playing or I don't. Ideally it would be sexy too but if not, as long as it works then great. It's not a car where we have loads of choice. We have a choice of two and personally I will be getting what suits mine and my boys needs. It won't be decided on the look of the console though. Each to their own but that's my thoughts on it. If people don't like the look if it, they could be missing out on something that could be great. Up to them though. I bet it looks fine when you see it with your own eyes.

Easy choice

PS4 = 8Gb GDDR5 (1Gb for OS / 7Gb for games) 1,8 T-FLOPS
Xbox One = 8Gb DDR3 (3 for OS / 5 for games) 1,2 T-FLOPS

I wonder if Sony is planning the same kind of lock for games, that is that you can't loan out or sell your copy without the next person having to pay a fee to activate it. If they don't, it would be a huge blow to Microsoft. But I somehow doubt they would be logical enough to use this opportunity to their advantage.

i mostly buy 2nd hand/rent games over the week end. No way i am getting a taxbox.

inferior machine, inferior exclusives, montly subscrition and second hand fees.

sony will win this race easily.

P.S.
2k is probably laughing his ass off after seen that trailer with monkey looking basketball players..

It's REALLY big and boxy though. My super slim PS3, V+ box, tv and even the wii U (despite being white so is the odd one out) are all curved in some way and like streamlined or whatever other buzz word you can think of. This is just a big box that will look out of place for me. Like it will just look so big and different. I'd get over it if they backed the reveal up with some amazing games and features but they didn't so all we really have to judge is the look of the box and tv tv tv.
And I don't think anyone is saying 'eww I don't like the look of that, therefore I'm not buying it'. It's just a small point.

I like some of the features. Like the Skype in game chat. That could be fun to play FIFA and see your friend sat playing. I say could be fun, as I doubt I'd ever use it. But surely there will be some game that can use that feature and excite gamers. We've already had example like in burnout paradise where when you takedown someone you could see their video on their little profile.
Or you're sat playing FIFA and you just get a phone call rough the tv from a friend. I assume Skype on Xbox will be free? If its locked behind Xbox live subscription then that's poor. I can't see my parents buying a Xbox 1 for tv and casual things and then have to buy xbl to talk when they can just phone me already.

Hmm... Roll on E3

MS is giving contradictory statement about the disc issues.

In some places it sounds like the disc is tied up to an account, in some other it's said it is tied up to both an account and a single machine (which would be really a fucked up scenario, i guess u'll see people going to a friend's place with their own gigantic xboxOne).

in any case MS doesn't give a fuck about games, they entered the gaming world but ultimately they were interested in one big entertainment box which would serve a tv, social media and mostly buying downloadable stuff (books, movies, games).

So they are aiming at this generic "shiteprofitbox".

I know what you are getting at Rad. Maybe a few years ago I would have cared more about the look but nowadays I'm like whatever man :)

I can see my nippers skyping up with their mates while playing but its not something I'll use while gaming.
Skype will be handy to get hold of the kids when I'm in work though.
Tbh, I haven't read up much on what they announced so hopefully I will find a nice summary page later of exactly what the new features are.

Thats what people said with the PS3 and I'm pretty sure that didnt happen...
And we dont know Sony's plan nor all exclusives (Knack...).
Before E3, we cant jump to conclusions.

i don't recall that tbh. i recall people raging at sony for being 1 year late, a well perceived performance problems for the ps3, a widely acclaimed xbox superiority in internet gaming and some kick ass xbox exclusive the first couple of years (gears of war and forza).

uncharted 1 was the first game that made people believe in the ps3 power.

From my friend, wonder if you guys could answer:

I have a question regarding the new Xbox..

I know it's not backwards compatible with games.. But the Xbox live and everything to do with it is being migrated..

So what I want to know is.. If I buy a game for Xbox one, say Fifa 14, and someone with an Xbox 360 also has FIFA 14.. Can I play with them?

Call me old fashioned, but I would just like a games console to concentrate on gaming.

Dont get me wrong I will still be getting the xbox one, and its nice to have all that extra stuff, but I have all that already.

Could this be the end of seeing the "Select your language" when booting up FIFA? It will just instantly jump to the main screen where I left off :)
