Hey everybody,

I just wanted to come in here and say with regret that I'm leaving the Konami soccer world behind indefinitely. For those who have known me for a number of years, I came over from the FIFA arena about 3 years ago after disgust at the way FIFA had been going with the gameplay and I embraced the Konami gameplay despite the lack of licensing etc. FIFA was so bad in those days even the licenses couldn't cover up the pinball, bad physics pile of crap that was FIFA 2002-05.

Well, I've just been playing FIFA 2006 demo and the game has made huge leaps and although it's totally copied the Konami gameplay (took them a while to realize this was theo nly way ot go but the lightbulb came on eventually!), it's at last more than playable and an enjoyable experience. Most importantly, it had all the atmosphere that comes with the licenses, authentic sounds, uniforms etc. Don't get me wrong, WE/PES still has better (sharper) graphics to be honest.

After playing WE9 this month there are just too many things that have ruined the game for me now:

1 - Patching. The lack of licenses means patch after patch after patch and it's just getting tiring. Even if I'm not making them myself I'm having to wait for others to make something semi-realistic. Now Konami have re-encoded the files yet again to prevent editors making uniforms for the game. Did they not work out that it was the editors who have been making patches for these games over hte last few years who have boosted the popularity of the game and got some of the FIFA license-whores to switch over? Konami have done nothing to help the editing scene (except for the in-game editor which is fantastic but way beyond the average person) and have forced people to get chipped/modded consoles to have a realistic experience.

2 - The multi-versions! When is this going to stop. How much would it hurt them to create a version with multi-languages? I know people can say "you don't need to get them all" but let's be honest, who doesn't want the latest and apparently greatest version or wants to wait 3 months (or 6 in the USA) to get it. It's got to the point where there are 5-6 versions coming out every year.

3 - The gameplay. Sorry but as many improvements as there are, the introduction of long shots which go in too frequently (one of the reasons I switched from FIFA in the first place!) and this constant calling of fouls even shoulder-to-shoulder just has ruined the game for me. On average I can score 3 or 4 long range goals a game unless I play with a crappy side. The fouls make the game so stop-start it gets tedious if you have a crappy ref. Overall, the enhancements Konami have made have been awesome but it's the basic ones that have ruined the game for me.

4 - Graphics. Awesome quality but WTF is the no-crowd crap now? I know why they've done it but playing as Man Utd against Arsenal and having about 500 people in the stadium? A joke right?

5 - Licenses. It's been long enough for Konami to get more licenses and here we are, still with only 2 premiership teams licensed. I know EA has the full license but it's about money. You telling me Konami doesn't have the money to buy the licenses? You telling me FIFA wouldn't sell two lots of the full license for $20 million each as opposed to one exclusive license for $30 million??? It's horrible hearing your team being called the wrong name or having to hear a patched version with a different commentator in a different tone!

Sorry, I know they'll be people who disagree with probably all I've said but I'd hope I made enough of a contribution to the community over the last few years for people just to agree to disagree or understand to a point where I'm coming from.

If Konami pull their head out of their ass next year and get licenses and readdress some of these problems they've introduced into the gameplay over the last few years and finally stop releasing 6 different versions throughout the year then I'd follow them again but it's got to the point in my life where I just want to pick up a game and play and be happy.

Furry love as always.

i'm in agreement with a few of the points but still not sure i can put myself through fifa. well done for everything, see ya.

WOLF, i loved your patches... they have boosted my WE(pc) experience greatly... sad to see u leave... but i fully agree with u, honest... those words sound like they came from my mind, i was thinking the same way as u... im getting really tired, waiting for patches, option files... updated transfers... i tink konami should really get a slap in their faces to wake them up... honestly, how difficult can it be to include multi language? but jap games producer are always like that, kind of selfish behaviour IMO

i haven tried the fifa06 though... if i like it, maybe i'll follow your footsteps

dont you guys realise? Fifa is actually the good side and konami is on the dark side... they suck our money with 3 series every year but still no license!

Eh? :eh:

No, it's your choice whether to buy the games or not, no one is forcing you. Not to mention, Winning Eleven/PES is a great game while FIFA has been for a long time mutton dressed as lamb (shite game hidden by great presentation). I'm downloading the FIFA demo just now just to see what it's like, but your post is quite funny. ;)

Blimey, leaving WE to go play FIFA? That's a bit like leaving Real Madrid to go play for Newcastle.

I understand your reasons for being fed up with WE, but do you really think FIFA06 will keep you amused for long?

he is right though, even tho everything has improved the fouls system is worse and unrealistic, i mean u think what a tackle and then get yellow for your troubles, it ridiculous.

i've just played a match of fifa06, although its arcadey but its fun! thats the whole pt, u play games becoz u wan fun, unless you wan a simulator.. when its out im gonna play fifa 06 and ditch we9 aside

Yep. He'll come crawlng back soon. And I'm happy that peope are jumping ships cuz this will motivate Konami to improve the game.

I understand to a point where you're coming from, Wolf! :)

Can't say I agree with everything you say but I do see some points in some of those things you mentioned however it will never bug me enough to switch over to Fifa.

By the way there is quite a bit of people who start liking Fifa after a few games but honestly I don't think the game STILL has enough to get a true PES/WE fan to switch over. I don't know how many games you've played with Fifa 06 demo of course but from my experience, many of those who are even initially tempted to switch to Fifa cuz they think EA has much improved their game this time, will eventually after couple weeks come back to PES/WE games.

So bottom line is personally I don't think Fifa still has enough to permanently be able to switch a PES/WE user to their product. I hope you come back and even if you don't.. you'll be remembered man! :(

Take care and hope to see you change your mind soon ;)

Bye bye, a few questions though? Why not just leave the teams that don't have official kits that's what i do anyways with some of them. I don't patch although the patches do look ace and if you can't read any Japanese i imagine WE is very hard to navigate at times. The transfers are annoying to do but 3 hours of my time to switch a few players around etc ain't bad. I admit patching must be very annoying and time consuming but does everything have to be accurate?

Is it not about the gameplay in the end? I'm yet to play the new Fifa but it would have to be something special to beat WE i feel. I understand why some people would want Fifa for Champioship one clubs etc and maybe a quick fix but in the long run i'm sure you will come back to World Soccer Winning Eleven.:)

Fed up with it, maybe I just need a break but how long do I give it? I've tried and tried to like it, if it was any other game it'd have been tossed into the 'SHITE' pile a long time ago.

I'll go for 9/10 because although I have some issues with it, I continue to persevere and find I always go back to the game.

:lmao:

going from PES, to Fifa is like pulling a spoon out of a nice big bowl of ice cream and shoving it up your arse....Wolf I hope you brought vaseline mate....(cock)

wolf u desserve resspested from everybody hire as u spend lots of time and work, thanks for everything, but switching from pes to fifa 2006 its not the best thing,
as u would never play fifa 2006 for the holl year. i am more like you i give other games a chance, i bought fifa 2005 last year, it was ok at the beganing then in 2 to 3 weeks it start to get extimly boring and repetitiv, i haven't touch that game agen sins december last year, what i am trying to say is that, u play whatever game u think is better for u, fifa will never have deaper gameplay at list not in this generation.
good luck!

No this is what EA specialise in, releasing games such as Madden every year with teeth added in, roster update and call it a whole new game.

Konami update more in their International/Final Evo than EA does in their whole new addition.

EA is the real dark side.

Guys - I took his word for it- I tried FIFA06 Demo from FileFront - Damn it's improved, I mean really imnproved, it basically stole Konami's engine.
I'm not sure if I'm gonna join him, but this isn't your older brother's FIFA, this is a serious game.

... i just played the demo .... totally crap!!! I dont like we9 but Fifa06 is just eeehh

Fifa 06 is a disgrace, ive just played the demo and can safely say its the worst fifa yet it really is just so pointless

I'd have to agree with Wolf about the fouls problem WE9 has. Usually I wouldn't go nut over some fouls, but in WE9 it's just too many, too often. About switching to Fifa, I'm not with you Wolf. If even it's good, it has to earn my attention it'd lost.

Trust me i dont know what version wolf played but this fifa game is quite simply awful in evrey aspect the graphics are diabolical the passing is tawdry, the shootingi s typical fifa crap basically this is really a disgrace of a game. im not just saying this cause i love We, i sued to be a huge fifa fan and try the game every year to hope it goes back to its future glory but this year it really has sunk to a new low.
