Champions League 2012/13

I can imagine Real fans first day after Bayern beat Barca...they was like wuhu (like last year when Chelsea play 2-2) but they get slaped again...

I also don't get how Bayern are allowed to buy the stars from rival teams.

If it was a mid table team I'd understand, but Dortmund are title contenders!

That would be like Benfica selling their stars to Porto over here, I can tell you that would probably cause a civil war!

Bayern saved Dortmund from going into Administration. Dortmund almost didn`t exists . Its like mafia work! We own you whenever we knock, you just open.

The Portugal example really doesn't hold up. Why would a star-player from Benfica move to Porto and vice versa? They're pretty much on par financially, aren't they. If you make it at any of these two clubs your future lies beyond the Portuguese border, as history has so often demonstrated in the past. (Which, by the way, has also proven to be a rather effective model of economy. Always astounding how many big transfers almost yearly fill the bank accounts of Porto in particular. Their scouting system is undoubtedly the gold standard. Helps to have strong ties to the South American top teams, of course.)

The difference between Dortmund and Bayern in terms of finances is still pretty huge in comparison. There's not much Dortmund can do if one of their players wants to join the rival club from the south - except of course sit out contracts, in which case they'd only postpone a planned transfer and lose all chances to get some money out of it. Goetze's case was especially "easy" for all potential future employers, since he had that release clause in effect.

As far as the outrage from the "suffering" side of this bargain (dare I call it that?!) is concerned - no, calling it "civil war" would really be stretching it, especially after a very good performance by Mario in the first leg against Real. But make no mistake about it: Protests were vocal and the "war of words" is still being waged. Death threats, Burning jerseys, insults and threats targeting Goetze's family - that kinda stuff. Already way past all rationale and common sense for me, to be honest. :/

that`s terrible for Goetz`s family !!! ffs, ppl need to get a grip. Protest is fair for releasing frustration ,but lines should never be crossed.

Sadly it's not the first time fanatism happened in Germany.

They are simply idiots, there is not a reason why Mario's family should be targeted, that news is shocking.

Completely agree with you here, bebo, but too be fair I think it should be added that there are often such "threats" and excluding Pezzoni's case (which brought shame over the majority of Köln fans) there didn't happen anything so far. And hopefully it stays like that.

Only Mario!!! He said "If RM come back against Dortmund the players can sleep w/ his bird" Such a motivator !
LOL! i wonder how his girl feels about this :P

as for bayern signing gotze, i don't see what's the problem. it happens all the time and in every league. top clubs always snatch young talents from lesser clubs. u weaken a potential title contender and (since the player isn't coming from another league) there are less risks the player won't adapt to the new club.
as long as they pay a fair price for the player, i can't see any problem with that... and even if they didn't pay a fair price, that's borussia's fault for not negotiating well.
btw how much was the pricetag on gotze?

that's odd. german fans always come across as a very quiet and civilized bunch.:SS

as for the all-german final possibility, i'm all for it. sure this talk about "best league" is nonsense (as is always the case with this kind of discussions), but as sauce and sina said, i'm glad bundi is finally getting the recognition it deserves.
besides watching bayern and borussia playing is like watching porn, from a footie fan perspective.:DD

oops i watch those teams together with my kids and my wife is in the same room...

All jokes aside, why shouldn't Bayern buy Dortmund players ? Last year Dortmund won because Reus went to Borussia instead of Bayern, now Götze goes to Bayern... that is football.

I hope Götze's family will be left alone by those idiots...

I don't care about Belgian newspapers, Schürrle is our number one Target whether he likes it or not de Bruyne will be playing at Leverkusen if Schürrle goes the other way.

BVB won title two years in a row without Reus Gerd.

THIS is Marco Reus' first season in Dortmund (well he was there as a youth but I mean first season back as senior). They got him last summer from Gladbach so Dortmund winning title last year had nothing to do with Reus since he was playing for Gladbach.

That's the problem w Chelsea they seem to always have 4 or 5 number 1 targets. Then loan about 20 players around Europe . I was so angry when they won CL last year :( .

Well Arsenal does that too, and it's not the club's fault if those players can't make it into the squad or aren't enough patient to blend in before getting play-time, that's also a good thing for those loans they enough play-time to grow and the club gets some money as well, so it's a win-win situation (most of the time).

This good:
...

He's completely overrated. He has his bright moments and can decide a match, but too often he's also stumbling and hoofing around. And I don't think Chelsea will give De Bruyne to Leverkusen, if Dortmund throws enough money in the ring (which they can after Götze's sale).

Is Schurrle going to be another Marin?

Could be happening, even though I found the Marin-transfer even more ridiculous at the time. That guy is more inconsistent at his absolute best than Schuerrle is now, on top of that he always seemed like the introverted type. Schuerrle could help Chelsea's depth if everything turns out well, but I doubt he'll ever become an option for the starting eleven.

Chelsea ain't selling, we're loaning ;)
Also I never said he was good enough, he asked and I showed him what he's capable of, we have a bunch of players with the same profile already, but for some reason Roman has a crush on him so if he wants him, he'll get him simple as that.
