I saw that live on Saturday. funny stuff - one to add to the highlights at the end of the season.

It's only so both words start with S and it sounds better!
actually I read in a great book by Simon Kuper that in the late 60's and 70's all over the UK they called it soccer, it wasnt only until the north american soccer league and the popularity of the cosmos did people in the UK want to disassociate with U.S. soccer and they started calling it football... most of you are probably too young to remember when that was, i wonder if its true

My Dad and Uncles have watched football :DD from the 60's onwards and they have always called it football and get pissed off when people call it soccer.

So I assume it was like that in most places? but it would be interesting to find out.

Hmmm I've never heard it referred to as Soccer more than Football on old clips and games and it was never called that in my family or circle of friends, as a kid we always called it Togger though...

Although Soccer as a word to do with football does I think date back to Oxford Uni in the 1800's so it's been around a hell of along time, even before the Football league...

maybe ask him, cause maybe he did call it soccer in the 60's then changned when around the time you were born or later... to be honest the same book said statistically speaking football or soccer is more popular in scotland then england and even in norway... i implore you to read that book before passing judgement, it had some very good points... soccernomics

Thinking about the 2nd video again... how on earth did that guy mistake a piss filled urinal for a sink?

probably because he came out of the toilet, you can hear the door close and he appears

and then goes to wash his hands like his mummy taught him
