Re: The Rangers Thread - UEFA Cup Final :: Manchester :: Tonight :: 19.45

thing annoys me most bout scotish football is celtic fly the tri colour and their a scottish team, rangers fly the union jack and thier a scottish team, makes no sense.

Re: The Rangers Thread - UEFA Cup Final :: Manchester :: Tonight :: 19.45

I do feel for Rangers as they've been punching above their weight all season, which a lot of people haven't really taken into account when they complain about their tactics, they were just simply playing to their strengths.

What is disappointing is to see that yet again a minority of Rangers fans have cast a shadow over the majority who were law abiding citizens enjoying the weather and atmosphere in the centre of Manchester. Irrespective of the way the city of Manchester organised the fan zones or how heavy handed the police were you just can't act in that manner and expect to not to portrayed in a bad light in the media.

yeh agreed shameful behaviour last night after zenit played rangers off the park, congrats zenit, no shock in the win.

Re: The Rangers Thread - UEFA Cup Final :: Manchester :: Tonight :: 19.45

Well done to Rangers for cancelling their procession in celebration of UEFA Cup Final appearance in Glasgow, following the tragic news of Tommy Burns.

Re: The Rangers Thread - UEFA Cup Final :: Manchester :: Tonight :: 19.45

I heard it was because of the disgusting behaviour of a minority of there fans.

Re: The Rangers Thread - UEFA Cup Final :: Manchester :: Tonight :: 19.45

Nope, not according to their website.

He was held highly by many Rangers people. He will be sorely missed on both sides.

You'll be hard pressed to find a single Rangers fan who can say a bad word about Tommy.

Thanks. It was always going to be a difficult task to beat Zenit or even contain their attacks.

Our chances were few and far between. I'd much rather we just went for it with a 4-4-2 and Nacho Novo on from the start. We never went for it until we went behind and by then it was too late.

The dream is over.
Congrats Zenit.

Not the end of the world indeed! But it makes winning the league - and the domestic treble - all the more important now. Three league games left starting this Saturday and a Scottish Cup final to look forward to.

thing annoys me most bout scotish football is celtic fly the tri colour and their a scottish team, rangers fly the union jack and thier a scottish team, makes no sense.

Is Scotland not part of the United Kingdom anymore? :SS You'll find we fly both the Union Flag and the Saltire.

Finally an intelligent response to our "anti-football" tactics. If its the best we can do at the moment then why not do it?

Terrible behaviour from some "fans" last night and all the hard work that has been put in to improving our reputation has been shattered by a number of boozed up chavs/neds who have no place in the Rangers support or society in general. What should be noted though is that out of 100,000 people, only 42 arrests were made. The vast majority of Rangers fans behaved themselves and had a good time.

Terrible news about Tommy Burns. Rest In Peace.

Re: The Rangers Thread - UEFA Cup Final :: Manchester :: Tonight :: 19.45

How can you guys even like that type of football...
You kind remind me of Greece in Euro 2004...

Congrats to Zenit, they deserved as they were the only team trying to win...

Are you schizophrenic!?

In the UEFA Cup thread you were hoping for "a great game of anti-football" so that Rangers would win, then you come in this thread and question it.

I was just about to upload highlights to YouTube when UEFA claimed copyright against my Sporting and Fiorentina vids and my account is now suspended. :((

Yeah it's pretty disappointing really, after 10,000+ fans were escorted to a alternative screen to continue watching the game, a pocket remained and took it upon themselves to cause trouble. A small minority but that's all it takes for violence to escalate.

Once more CCTV footage is unearthed it's only going to get worse, and it's not only the reputation of Rangers that's going to suffer but also Man United and Chelsea fans who as a consequence won't be able to travel to any fan zones to watch the Champions League Final as it's just not viable after last nights fiasco.

I'm just saying you seemed ok with the way we played before and now you've changed your mind.

Zenit St. Petersburg 2-0 Rangers
Denisov (72)
Zyrianov (90+4)

ZENIT ST PETERSBURG have lifted the UEFA Cup after beating Rangers 2-0 in the City of Manchester Stadium. After a tense 90 minutes, goals from Igor Denisov and Konstantin Zyrianov proved decisive against Walter Smith's Bravehearts who again gave everything for the cause. On the night it was always going to take a bit of magic to unlock either defence and Zenit managed to do that on two occasions. On 72 minutes Andrei Arshavin slid the ball through to his team-mate who looked up before placing the ball coolly into the net beyond Neil Alexander from 12 yards. And with only seconds remaining an excellent move culminated in Zyrianov scoring from two yards after he reacted quickest to latch on to an intelligent cut-back. For Rangers this European run will always be remembered and the 120,000 fans that travelled to Manchester had the time of their lives. Winning a domestic Treble will now become the priority for the Light Blues who can hold their heads high after flying the Saltire flag for so long throughout this remarkable European adventure.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Zenit 2-0 Rangers :: Congratulations Zenit!

Will someone ask Walter Smith and Ally McCoist why they tried to play for 0-0 and penalties in a final, before the game had even started?
