Trance / Dance / House Music Discussion

thank you, especially for the scooter one.. I used to like "friends" by scooter in the 90s (probably 1994, maybe 1995?)..

"friends" and "how much is the fish" are still the ones I like most, though their recent stuff like "one" is not that bad either..

Its such a big shame that these days Trance is NOT proper Trance! its all cheesy bullshit like Baywatch Theme Tune Remakes etc... That turned me to listen to Rock/Indie music that I once dismissed. I blame the likes of Ian Van Dahl and Flip & Fill which made it all cheesy back in 2001 the year Proper Trance took a dive!

Ministry of Sound also have a huge part to play in that too... a quick history Lesson:

The Annual I - The 1st one and it was a classic! good tunes and 2 decent mixes from Tongy and Boy George
The Annual II - Better than the 1st one! brilliant! Tongy did try to be too clever with some mixes and bodged them up!
The Annual III - Continued to be good
The Annual IV - Judge Jules comes in and mixes up a storm! it started to commercialise a lot at this point.
The Annual Millennium Edition (1999) - Tall Paul comes in and the album is good. Some tracks are cut hurrendously short and the commercialisation continues.
The Annual 2000 - The last good one done by PROPER DJ's Commercialism rises again!
Clubbers Guide To 2001 - Last Ministry CD mixed by a decent DJ... Tall Paul. Mix Editing was diabolical (done by the guy who mixes the next CD in the series!)
Annual 2002 (2001) - what the fuck is with this shit? 3 cd's? Garage and who the fuck mixed this? Commercialism at its maximum and that has continued to this day...

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU!

Commercial dance nowadays is absolute fucking shit, it's not just the Ministry Annuals or the music channels, this crap is now played in clubs too, it's a terrible shame.

People say, ooh what music d'ya like? I like dance/trace...

"OMG you don't listen to that shit do you?" I have to get e-mail addresses off mates so I can send them decent tracks. I remember when I first got into trance in 1998 and was saying wow this is amazing (I used to hate songs when I was younger), all music will be like this in the future. WTF went wrong!

Haha, that's really weird, same story here... Well, almost. The first time I heard Chemical Brothers - Let Forever Be, I listened to it ten times a day, couldn't believe it. There were a few others, but then after that it all became shit and I just gave up on the genre. I haven't listened to any since, because whenever it's on Radio 1 or whatever, it's utter crap and I put Kerrang on straight away. All I listen to now is "normal" stuff like The Pigeon Detectives (who I love, best band I've heard in ages), Subways (wish they'd get a new album out), and the older bands like Foo Fighters.

I still enjoy a good trance song if I hear one, but it's very, very, very very very rare.

i hear ya, JB!

each month, i'm downloading the entire dance & trance realeases for that particualar month and i'm trying my best to find any tunes worth listening to twice, never mind finding an anthem!

but, i manage to find the odd one - not many tho, maybe one cracker in about 50!

i'll upload the best trance track i found in the last few months for you to grab - if you like it, i have more in the same mould...

Wahey, remember that Cicada remix of Into The Fire by Thirteen Senses still man? Rather spacey remix that, for a house producer. Top little tune.

I might start uploading the odd few tunes seeing as it's allowed, I do actually have a good collection of classic stuff online so I will actually paste some onto here soon.

Some stuff you may hate, some you may like, who knows...

Dumonde!!

I liked very much the remix DuMonde made of Barthezz's "On the move" back in 2001.
The original was nothing particularly special, the remix turned out being a wonderful tune..

by the way, are Bart Claessen and Barthezz the same?

nice little tune, that proxi - can't believe it slipped through my net. i like my trance a little more energetic though!

here's my favourite tune so far for 2007 (Jack Bauer, let me know what you think mate):

alex m.o.r.p.h. & woody van eyden ft. jimmy h - y68 (peaktwins remix)

http://www.mediafire.com/?9duonymjszh

ENJOY!!

nice little tune, that proxi - can't believe it slipped through my net. i like my trance a little more energetic though!
Crank the BPM up a notch then...
Nah, J/K.. I'm more into the energetic trance, however I've had that beautiful beast on me mp3 player for the past few months for when I'm travelling long distance, and i've fallen for it big time. Perfect chilled classical trance to end a set with. Wandii is uber talented, he's only a couple of years older than Selu Vibra. I see him as a relaxed Ace Da Brain of the future :8):

And by the way, that Y68 remix is awesome, I've had the original for time now but never heard that mix. Peaktwins = :applause: Reminded me a bit in places of Hemstock & Jennings - The Passion, you heard that? I love hero music like that.

i've got a remix of 'the passion' proxi (found it on trancemaster 4005) - had never heard it til there now. it's a crackin' tune! i'm downloading the original as i type.

the peaktwins are fantastic mate, everything they touch is quality!

here's their latest remix:

blue manta - see the light (peaktwins remix)
http://www.mediafire.com/?9eb2mqiyp3t

not quite as good as y68, but still worth a play!

Ah yes I already had the See The Light mix, reet nice it is! Think my favourite Peaktwins production is the Y68 mix now, just in front of Dreamer.

Few more tunes..

Fargo - Abymn (Wandii Remix) - http://rapidshare.com/files/4199297...._Fargo_-_Abymn__Wandii_s_Expanded_Remix_.mp3
More classical shizzle.

DJ Unique - Corrupted Emotions - http://rapidshare.com/files/41992840/dj_unique_-_corrupted_emotions.mp3
Harder trance, mighty riff

Johan Kivi - Clouds - http://rapidshare.com/files/41993217/Johan_Kivi_-_Clouds__Original_Mix_.mp3
Cracking uplifter, young producer again

proxi, mate - i can only download one tune, then i have to wait 50 minutes to use rapidshare again.

do you ever use mediafire? you don't even have to register...

No worries old bean. I'm sure we both have humongous collections. Got around 400 original singles from 1995-2002, over 600 cds of mp3s burnt, and my PC and external HD pretty much rammed, heh. I do love that JoBabe remix, keep a look out for Pierre Pienaar's remix of Lost Witness - Take Me There which is out sometime this summer, gorgeous vocals and sound.

Johan Kivi is very talented, I'll try and find Heart by him if you can't find it yourself, it's got a lovely classical intro, also the Kaveh Azizi remix of Clouds is worth a look, uber uplifting.

Nick did you ever hear the DJ Tiesto Remix of Velvet Moods? Its one of my favourites and ive mixed that on a fair few sessions. Must make a CD for you guys soon! Im very much an old skool house to trance mixer.

From Felix, Junior Jack, Blockster, Hatiras, Soul Searcher, Nalin & Kane, Energy 52 and Paul Van Dyk and many more :) (used to love it when Ministry Annuals had that bit on the front!)

Sorry for the delayed response; the songs that you've posted here are amazing, I didn't know there were decent tunes like these still being produced somewhere.

I'd actually forgotten about the thread but I heard ATB - Til I Come on the radio (not the proper original but some remix which is always referred to as the original). Brilliant little song that, I remember hearing it on some old FIFA and I would literally put the game on during the day just to listen to the song.

Amazing how such a great genre of music can seemingly die out, you wouldn't think it would happen. Although the songs Proxi posted seem to suggest that it is out there if you look hard enough.

Just grabbed hold of one of those "Classic Trance" CDs that Ministry Of Sound throw out every year to generate a few more quid... It makes me so sad to listen to it.

I can't see there ever being a song that will, in my eyes (well, ears), that will live up to ATB - Til I Come, Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone, Sash - Encore Une Fois (French lessons at school were just kids saying "Miss, encore une fois?"), Chicane feat. Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up... There were a few that mix in classical music as well that I don't know the name of. Nothing will ever beat those, I don't think, most of the modern stuff is too "bump bump bump" for me. So sad.

I liked all the tracks you posted mate but like I say, on the whole, they're just a bit too "bump bump bump" for me, and the melody is nice but it doesn't scream "unique" at me if you know what I mean. Almost as if I could have heard it in a computer game or something. Don't get me wrong, I'll listen to it because it's a good song, but it can't match up to the old ones.

Thinking about it, there were actually songs after the ones I mentioned above that I loved, but I've no idea what they were called. They were all featured in FA Premier League Stars, and they were all really good. There was one in particular that was just brilliant, quite "dark" (not as in heavy, as in the chords were all low As). I might have it around somewhere, I'll see if I can upload it.

There's just something "perfect" about them that I don't think can be matched.

EDIT: Yep, I do have it. Uploading now, will be finished in ten minutes. Watch this space...

EDIT 2: FINISHED! Excuse the filename, as I say I've got no idea what it's called or who it's by.

had a listen to that tune, JB, but didn't recognise it. even tried shazamming it and nowt came up.

are you sure it's a proper tune and not just some ditty recorded specifically for the game? if it was a proper song, then i'd imagine it would be fully credited in the manual or at least in the game credits...

The game credits did credit it as a "proper" song at the time, I'm sure of it. But I didn't think of writing it down or whatever, because at the time I didn't have the internet and didn't see a reason to... D'oh.
