PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

Well. PES 2019 isn't that bad. But i don't like how to move and reaction of players, cuz i have feeling is they sometimes slow and referee is sucks. Referee judge everything for CPU, but for me nothing.

And i can say, i hate change tactics during the game, cuz i thinks that is sometimes stupid, cuz you don't have really choice, what to choose in tactics.

What I dont like is drbbling and CPU marking.

Players keeps the ball too close all the time. Theres no wider movements, stretching legs too reach for the ball and theres too little inertia on movements. Its easy to hold ball possesion.

CPU marking its too perfect. Theres is no script to emulate a wrong foot or broken ankle situation. You shimmy shymme, step over, fake pass, fake shot, CPU never bought it. Its looks like on european football at 80-90's. Just pass pass pass and cross. Theres is no "ginga" no "joga bonito" in this game.

But, indeed is a good game. Its a mistake to wish that every game is the same. You get used to it.

Who cares about the grass and textures, we care about gameplay, and the game is so automated on default something which needs big fix. Especially shooting

I think people appreciate the turf mod and how it could increase the realism. So asking for one in default game is good.
Anyway we can not expect asim, adam, officialpes, pes production team read our mind when we say "shooting is so automated". I believe we should elaborate more and be more specific, best with videos when you talk to them.

It's been elaborated upon for years, go back and look at every PES since PS2 days feedback. There needs to be;
- More shot type variations
- More shot trajectories
- Variation in volleys
- Variation in low shots
- Much much better shooting animations
- Improved headed goals in variation, power etc

i could go on, but anyone can see how dull the shooting is at present, this also applies to crossing which they always seem to overlook too.

I wouldn't put turf in the same league with faces and tattoos. Most of the times you don't pay attention to the latter because it's too zoomed out anyway, but the pitch is always there as the dominating background for you to clearly see it, and having always the same textures and color kinda breaks the immersion and/or feels monotonous to me.

It's obviously not as important as gameplay, but to me it kinda have a relevance.

See, it is more descriptive now.. they should have better picture of it. Implementing it onto the game is another matter, we are talking about Konami here.. :P

yeah true, but if they need inspiration just watch any league weekly highlights such as MOTD and just look at the variation in shot types and trajectories, at present I struggle to see 10 different shooting animations.

I must say i liked the last few pes....but Always is somthing that annoys me. But after the last patch i cant find a gamebreaker. Of Course a lot can get better. The Only thing that i feel should really get fixed is the headers. I cant head with power even if i get a hard cross to a player thats a headerspecialist. Am i doin something wrong or others got the same problem?

Another thing that made pes a lot more boring(well all football games), that really isnt konamis fault, is the "players". 15 years ago(im 30 now) when i started a master league there was an ocean of players i wanted to get to my team, real characters. Real Ronaldo, inzaghi, scholes, rui costa, batistuta, kaka, bergkamp and many many more. Today when i start a master league and look at the players in other teams...i dont feel i want any in my team. Cristiano ronaldo, lewandowski, suarez, neymar, they all are 90+, but i dont "like" them. Probably thats beacuse i was a lot younger then and approciated all players as characters back then. If i was 15 now i would probably like cristiano ronaldo as much as i liked brazilian ronaldo when i was 15

My thoughts exactly. I'm 32 and still playing ISS and PES 3. ISS because of legendary players and PES 3 because of gameplay.

Many people care. Gameplay has its own significance. Graphics have their own place and importance. The quality grass makes the gameplay more enjoyable. Gameplay look more appealing. And it makes sense for more stadiums.

Everything has its own significance. That's why the game is flawed. If this is the case, then the team does not work on details. If the creators thought so. We still have been in the quality of the past generations.

I hear you. Thats exactily the reason I stop playing NBA games. Last player I was fan was Kobe Bryant.
On PES I always like teams with good midfielders. That time, a good midfielder could destroy you. Making things happen around then, holding the ball very well and making good passes. Man I hated play against Valencia because Aimar!
Now gameplay is kind of generic or something. The stats are there but you dont see or feel so much diference from player to player.

Turf textures are a mess in this game, and variety of turf layouts is lacking. The game has a problem here and if members of the community feel like it hurts their enjoyment than why not let them air those grievances.

That does not mean these people do not care about gameplay, it is just that textures and quality do indeed add to immersion.

Back then to see your favourite players in a game and to play with them was special. Same with things like having live football Italia once a week. Or colour TV. Now its all commonplace so lost its special feeling. We've been playing the same game for the past 3-4years so its no wonder its become stale. PES 2015 was "good" because it felt fresh and felt like a potential platform for better things.

Any gamer knows that fine positive refinements in a game can make one game better than the last. The problem is that Konami and the Bhatti gang do not see PES as a game but a money-making product. That is why we see minimal innovation/improvements each year and why you and I are bored.

Totally disagree with all the talk about pes2019 lacking in the turf textures/variety/lighting etc. Its easily the best its ever been, and to the point where I now enjoy playing in more than 90% of the stadiums available, where as before, eg. pes.18, id only use 3 or so stadiums. I know you have all the patches on the pc version of pes19, but still I think the default ones on the ps4 look amazing. Guess it also depends on how you set up your TV lighting/contrast etc, but for me many of the stadiums look very realistic. Best turf in any football video game to day I reckon.

I might be wrong but this tweet hints that more brazilian players/teams are licensed with the coming DLC.

Gremio has no real players atm but the defender Geromel are at least in that pic present. Now just update the Santos squad and I have a new favorite team online...;)

nowadays playing the game is no fun at all
then modding/editing become more interesting than the gameplay
There are so many good video games out there - why waste time sitting there editing PES when you're not going to play it?

I enjoy modding PES - A LOT. It's like a passion. I literally spend 8 hours a day modding this game. And that's after my real-life 10-hour job.
Yet I can't even find the drive to play a whole 10 minutes match. Let alone any other game mode.

surely there are satisfaction from creating mods and editing, some people understand and some may not understand
in the past, I also like spending a day to edit players stats and teams tactics, after that I may just play a few games
I swear I spent more time on editing than playing the actual game, but I also think editing is a part of playing the game

Yeah well, in fact I bet ya that the most respected/important modders on the PES scene, edit/mod the game a lot more than they actually play it. I'd say 95% - 5%.

I spent years of my life doing it - created the "English Super Patch" for FIFA 99 and 2000 (back in the days where I had to take everything on disks to-and-from internet cafés), carried on for a few years, then worked on the "Tranmere Patch" for PES 3 I think it was, and even put something together (though 90% of the content was from other kind editors) for PES 2017.

With FIFA, it would take 6-8 hours a day, and that was fine, because I was a teenager with no job. With PES, I would stay up until the early hours and be ruined for work, and it could cause arguments with family. With the later PES games, it would cause arguments in relationships - and after all that, you'd get shit because this player shouldn't have a beard or that player couldn't play right-back.

I will genuinely never forget some of the abuse I got after that FIFA 99 patch. I was 14 and some of it was fucking horrendous.

Some of those games I didn't even play beyond the first few matches, because I didn't like them, and when that happened for a few years in a row, I realised that what I was doing was absolute insanity, on behalf of developers who gave less of a shit than this community, who work tirelessly in order to help them out and make their excuses for them. (Even in terms of gameplay, look at what the PC mods are doing.)

I get why people do it - because you're crafting something and making something that you can be proud of and call your own - but when you calculate all of the hours that you're working incredibly hard on something, unpaid, that won't be perfect and will get you abuse... You realise you're wasting your life.

I would never again buy a game that I have to piece together myself before I get to play it - games are supposed to be fun. It's like paying full price for a car you have to screw together before you can drive it...

Great post.
There's a lot of truth in it too.

In my particular case...
I live alone and by my own. Even though my girlfriend comes over and usually stays for a few days, I spend most of the week alone.
I'm tired of going out to clubs and partying. Really. I started doing that very early on, when I was too young and now I'm 31 and I don't want nothing to do with it anymore. So Modding is like a big outlet for me. It's a therapeutic.

People can be ungrateful or picky and even hurtful sometimes. It can bring you down if you're sensitive. Me? I'm snappy. I tend to snap, get angry and get back. But it sure as hell takes the will out of you to keep doing it. Even if it doesn't sadden me to receive critics or trolling comments, it does make me want to stop modding sometimes. And I'm nobody, really. I can't even imagine what it does to the real geniuses here.

So I told myself, since I don't even really play the game anymore, the day I feel I'm doing this to please other people more than I am actually doing it to please myself, that's when I'll be closing the curtains, or step away for a while. Which is right about now.

The way I see it, you can take "Modding" in two ways. Either you do it for money, and you sell your mods or ask for donations, which is something I've always been strongly against, and I detest anyone who does that. OR... you can do it for free, until you just aren't getting any satisfaction out of it. Then stop. And only come back if you feel you're actually enjoying doing it again.

Sorry for the cathartic release.
