Maradona new Argentina coach

Apparently Masche will accept Peter but Diego may not be the coach after all.

Apparently the plaeyrs were trying to impress Diego as well in training. Would be god if Insua can leave on loan if he is not going to get a look in ahead of Dossena.

He has insisted on Oscar Ruggieri as an assistant. Ruggieri called Grondona head of the AFA a mafioso in the past which he is.

Grondona refuses to accept Ruggieri and Maradona has said he will refuse the job if his choice is not implemented.

Bilardo has said Diego has no intention of resigning. Its a complete mess.

It is an insult to Argentina and its fans and players. The sooner Grondona is removed the better. Its a horror comedy. :RANT:
 
Yeah, it makes no sense to appoint a new coach and not letting him choose his own staff, especially when it's a former player. How much did Grondona have to do with Maradonas appointment? Was he against that already or is he just throwing rocks now?
 
Rentalkid its not just Julio Grondona thats involved its his two sons esp.Humberto that also wield clout.

Everyone well almost everyoe gets on badly with the Grondonas that matter.

Bilardo wanted to be AFA president but since ha had to rein in his ambition.

Grondona has played a game.He tried to tempt an outspoken critic of his and one of the best coaches in Argentina Carlos Bianchi but then snubbed him by saying the job would have to be shared (which Bianchi and he knew he would not accept) and then on a whim thorugh is cronies advice appoints Maradona.

Maradona has been outspoken on the mafioso before but was prepared to let bygones be bygones.

Now with this dispute it appears Diego is ready to institute a power struggle.

Grondona snr no doubt appointed him on the basis of Bilardo for the tactics ,Diego as man motivator a la Loeb and Klinsmann say.

If Diego suceeds ,he Grondona is a great guy , if he fails well he can say I appointed the peoples choice. Except that it is not.

The Argentine public though Diego is treated in godly fashion were behind other coaches ie Bianchi , Diaz ,Tocalli etc.

We'll see how the circus develops. Hopefully Bilardo can sort out the backline which is the sole weakness ie get Gonzalo and Garay and later Meza and let the huge abundance of midfield and striking talent do the rest ie Zarate, Higuain,Cavenaghi,Denis, Lavezzi, Messi,Aguero, Piatti, Tevez,Valeri you get the picture.

Cavenaghi 26 goals in 27 games for Bordeaux.
