FIFA 20 Discussion (Console Versions)

No italian teams in the video - I'm starting to believe that the Serie A licence has shifted hands.
That's a huge blow if true. All the clubs (bar Juventus) should still be present with all licenses negotiated individually, right? It's just that you won't have the league logo (and on the sleeves) plus the appropriate ball, for example. Doesn't sound like a lot but... It's a huge league, a huge license to grab.

The fact that the new Serie A logo can be seen in the PES "face porn" videos they've been releasing through social media would say to me this is pretty much confirmed.

Yes. It would be weird though. Just acquired the license, so why should it be gone already? Not prioritized enough by EA?

Well. If it’s meaning a REAL focus in PES because of it, then I’m happy.

But yeah. The league is definitely in top 4. So many historic clubs - A lot of them with great stadiums and also great teams. Juventus is maybe top 5 in Europe. Just signed De Ligt also. Inter, Napoli, Roma, and Milan speaks for itself. Massive clubs.

HERE WE GO!

The FIFA 20 website has been updated again but there's not much that's new. Gameplay trailer is below...

Nice trailer. Glad they put in live gameplay for a change, I don't think EA's ever done that.

I liked the animations on Penalties, Don't think the target was needed personally.

However, curious to see how it'll affect free kicks, Hope it doesn't just ramp up their success rate...

BayArena ingame.
Bloody good spot mate - Blink and you'll miss it!

they have roma and ajax licensed, but both of them are not in the video so we will see,ea bought seria a license last year

Animations looks amaizing this year i really like them.

1on1 looks lovely. Reminds me at FIFA16 special move and i really miss it in FIFA games

Looking good!

The only bit that looked odd to me, is the Marcos Alonso free-kick. The ball trajectory and physics looked a lot like FIFA 19's there.
The rest is fairly good. Looks like they touched the spots they needed to touch.

I need to see more. Just ten seconds of gameplay footage of normal passing around the midfield (and how the AI defence reacts to it) and I reckon I'll get a feel of whether this has changed significantly enough for me to enjoy it.

Free kick changes and some interesting shot physics is nice, but it's the passing physics that really ruins FIFA 19 for me. I have a horrible gut feeling that the ball will continue to shoot around like a cannonball being fired from each player's boot, because that pace of the game is what the FUT guys want.

Looking forward to the Pitch Notes later. Wonder what the delay is...

Do you guys think they will be changing their graphical models soon? You would think new consoles would be the right time to do it, no?

The thing with those 1v1 clips is that the defenders lunges in for the tackle and so easily gets beat. I want dribblers to be able to put defenders on the back foot and beat/pressure hem through directness, not rely on them overextending like a madman

not sure what to make that dead ball system. looks like it could be both too complicated and too easy

Hope we gonna get to use those new, remajiged free kicks. In order to use them we must get some free kicks first..

Why is Marcos Alonso hitting perfect knuckle balls. :BORED: He's never even attempted one in real life.
Yeah he's not hitting free kicks like that. They should have put David Luiz instead in that situation who hits knuckle balls.
Maybe one more clue that the Canadian devs probably don't watch enough real life football.:OH:

Concerning freekicks:
They essentially just reintroduced a feature from FIFA 2003-2005. Wow. Amazing.

Probably because they don't dare show Ronaldo doing it.

But why Alonso of all players is in your world wide gameplay trailer is strange.

Reminds me of how they had Ashley Cole, Who even my nan who doesn't watch football, knows he's left footed, performing a perfect cross field long pass with his damn right foot in the PES 2011 trailer.

But that's in 2010, while this is in 2019. EA should know better by now

I don't know if it'll be realistic enough, but I might like this, because I'm a fan of 1on1's and taking out defenders.

One of the main aspects of FIFA 20 gameplay that we wanted to emphasize is within one-on-one situations. In real-life football, some of the most exciting moments derive from these types of situations, and we wanted to shine a spotlight on them.

Due to the re-architecture of our Positioning system, players should find themselves in one-on-one battles, all over the pitch, more often in FIFA 20. Both the dribbler and the defender will have more time and space to read the play and show their skills than ever before - be it a winger trying to break through the defense, or a holding midfielder closing down a deadly striker - these are some of the moments that can define the advantage in a balanced match.

So probably not too realistic, given that nowadays most teams want to choke their opponents with high-pressure and by precisely not giving their star players the chance to have 1on1 situations.

Yeah that passage is quite worrying to be honest. If I had to take it literally, it seems like they'll kinda ignore proper pressure to favour some kind of 1v1 fest. With the whole Volta introduction it wouldn't be surprise for them to try and emphasize this kind of playstyle.

Hope they are just exaggerating/poorly translating what the dev team did (like it happened other times in the past) or honestly it would be plain bad.

This times 10000x

Also, the 2nd penalty taken by Willian looked really strange. The ball really sped up towards the end there

"The focus was on building a slower and more composed game off the ball, while keeping it very responsive and agile on the ball. Players will have more time to read situations and plan their next steps putting emphasis on more tactical defending, but at the same time, players will be more responsive and faster than before allowing for explosive runs and breakaways."

Did Fifa actually say they wanted the game to be slower :CONFUSE:

I'm actually seeing some stuff that have been on PES for the past two versions or even more. Weird.

Those little set-up touches have been in PES since PES 2018.

Dragging the ball back like that have been in PES since PES 2014.

decent amount of stuff to chew on there

- all the stuff about 1v1s sound great, specially the strafe dribbling

- "lofted" passes by double pressing pass and through pass could be very cool. there are many times where I wish i had something like that, eg. in a 2v2 situation when i'm trying to thread a pass through the defenders but im sure a regular pass will get intercepted and a lob pass is too high/harder to control/takes longer. This lofted/dinks could be useful at breaking through tight spaces

- "hard tackles". I've always thought tackles should have somewhat of a power bar just like passes. it seems thats not the case here as it's only binary between normal and hard tackles, but hey its more variety than before.

- Jockey & Agile jockey. More modes for your defendsive stance is great. gives you more tools to combat attackers and should help in these 1v1 battles.

- im unsure about this "set-up touch". look like it could take too much time to wind up to be useful

- i'm not liking what im hearing the dead ball system. just having full control over a recticule like that to aim wherever you want... it doesnt seem like it would provide much satisfaction. And the controls for applying spin look weird. the whole thing just seems convoluted and unsatisfying to me. but ill see.

- They removed no touch dribbling. what a damn shame. that feature was absolutely golden in fifa 16. but they nerfed it to pointlessness in the sequels and now they just outright removed it for this "set-up shot" thing. No no no.

Look at this video I posted recently which features no-touch. watch the clips from 1m34s to 1m50s. no touch allows you to control space through just letting the ball roll , and to feint the ball to confuse attackers. it's a very vital part of real football and is used all the time. you don't always want to be taking touches of the ball in real life. often you just want to let it roll and chose your moment to touch/dribble the ball

This.This.This.

I was so enthusiatic about everything I read in the pitch notes until I got to this and I was like NOOOOOOOOO:RANT::CRY:

The no touch system had sooo much potential if they really went with it. Like making the opponents controller rumble when used or making defenders react. So many possibilities that were just scrapped because it wasn't implemented right.

All in all, extremely enthused by what I just read. Mostly great stuff in there. Sucks it comes off of EA getting the most shit (deservedly) they've ever gotten because the feedback from this should be positive. Open communication, video examples, a sim-based direction. All really great stuff. But the comments well read from 13 year olds "Piemonte Calcio :TTTH:"

looks like old school pes with gameplay balance and responsiveness (R2 dribbling) being the main things this year, throw in the already amazing licencing and i think fifa20 will be leaving ps4 with a bang. a video with actual AI fouls included next is all im waiting on then they can take my money

"This improved system also provides us with the ability to create unique physics for different ball types"

So Adidas,Nike, Puma and Umbro footballs etc will play differently?? so the bundesliga with derbystar will play differently to the premier league with their nike ball or La Liga with the puma ball ???

Loving absolutely all of that article.

The thing about pressure is, it's all anyone does online, because it's unrealistically effective (more so than real life). Anything that shifts the balance away from every player just spamming pressure buttons is a step towards engaging your brain when you play online.

It all sounds great, I'm really impressed. But I'm also aware it may all be turned off by patch #1...

Lastly wanted to say, this was probably my favorite part

"The new Physics will make passes feel more realistic, adding spin and creating a natural curve with passes. Players will often see the ball bouncing off the ground after contact and subtle bounces once the ball touches the ground, which will have an impact on the ball trajectory and also when trapping the ball. Hard passes and bad passes will have more bounce to their trajectory, to demonstrate the error/difficulty of the pass. Pitch wear-and-tear also influences the bounces, with rougher pitches increasing the ball’s bounce, making it rise more and more irregularly."
