Looking at this projector (Acer X1130P) and wondernig if anyone has any knowledge of it. Really due to it being a good price.

Quite fancy it for watching movies and the footy on it. I know it mentions about gaming, not a big thing anyway, really want it more to watch footy and some movies.

I don't know all the ins and outs of these things though, I guess I can link my laptop up to it, not sure about my HD Box though.

Anyone?

Its not got very good spec's but the review's say it's fine for normal TV, DVD and PC use but if you want HD films, TV and Gaming its definitely a no no

This is our first projector, and for the entry we did not want to spend too much money. We were not disappointed. Although we had expected because of the low price to a lesser extent, the projector than for our purposes has turned out perfectly and fulfilled our expectations in every respect.
The projector will work well in daylight and woodchip wallpaper. The Eco-mode is quite sufficient, at least now in the winter when the sun is not shining directly into the room. The Eco-mode brings two further advantages: first, increases the lamp life so really reasonable to 4000h, and second, the volume reduced to a truly acceptable level. At low points in the film (no dialogue, no music), the projector is still heard, but so unobtrusive that we do not perceive more quickly. The Bildqualuität is for DVDs, TV and Wii at a diagonal of just over 2 meters of sufficiently good and the colors are fantastic. For HD fans, he is of course nothing.

Conclusion: looking for DVD, TV and Wii perfect introduction Beamer (concerts makes him really full of fun!)

I bought the projector for my living room PC and am very satisfied!

The supposedly "low" resolution of 800x600 is ideal for playing DVD or DVB-T signals, which are not broadcast in HD anyway, but in 720x572 pixels.

The projector is running at my 95% in ECO mode, then listen through the TV disappears and the light intensity is also sufficient.
I had to make up for my relatively strong keystone settings, the image quality is still great. I watch television with the video projector with a screen size of about 1.50 m (16:9) or 1.65 m (4:3) - the unit is approximately 2.35 m away from the Projektionsfäche.

Who does not need HD, is hereby served well.

Thanks mate, tbh, HD films and stuff doesn't really interest me much, I got a HD Tele and got Virgin HD+, but I don't really see much of a difference myself.

And I really only want to use it for films, maybe connecting upto the normal tele, but was wondering about connecting it upto my laptop and using for the likes of some footy you can watch on the net (or even Sky Player which I have through my laptop).

FD

Yeah you can connect it to a laptop with a normal VGA lead

Streaming footy would look pretty shit though because the bitrates are very low but Sky player should look OK

Cheers mate.

I'm think I'm gonna get it out of Argos, have already phoned them and asked about returning it if I don't like what I see. They said that's fine as long as I keep receipt and all packaging.

Now selling our cruel good projector when not in used as much . The lamp is almost brand new ( 2009-12-09 ) and have only burned a few hours . Will hold up to 3000 hours . Receipt there . Lamp nypris was 4619 SEK .

More info : http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?e=86697

The canvas is a new type and is 92 inches . It gives a good and nice picture .

For fast and smooth business and I will send a ceiling mount and component cable 10meter .

Not sent because of size . Sells everything package .

Price : Only 4500 SEK . It is smaller than the lamp cost so the rest you get for free ;-)

So it's the projector, 92" screen, ceiling mount and cable for £395, this a good deal Coopz? :)

The one from Argos is quite a bit better

Better resolution, more lumens and better contrast

Right more of a update

Obviously the higher the resolution the better the picture and Lumens are how bright the bulb is so if its high you can watch it in daylight, normally home cinema ones are around 1200 which get washed out in daylight and the ones at 2000+ are either the cheap variety for just PC mainly or really really expensive home cinema ones

The contrast ratio is how black the blacks actually are so the higher it is the the more detail you get out of them and the lesser the blacks look more grey losing detail

They are the main things to look for when buying a PJ

If they are HD it will say they are 720p, 1080p, High Definition or Full HD ect in the title or description if its from a proper company

The one in your link is partly telling the truth, it does show 720p but its not doing it anywhere near properly with its 800x600 native resolution but he doesn't mention that

Your looking over £800 for a HD PJ

Right, thanks for the clarification, no way I'm prepared to spend £800 on my first projector on the off chance I just don't get into it, so it's either a cheap less well performing new one or a 2nd hand one, lots more research to do I guess :)

OMG, that projector is feckin awesome that I bought. It is absolutely superb, I'm sorted now for footy and films. I even have a greenish type wall and it's still a superb picture. No doubt some anal projector fan will pick holes in it somehow, but I'm absolutely over the moon with this. Don't even need to buy a screen which I though I'd need.

Can't wait to watch the Spanish footy and like on the tele on a Saturday night and it'll be brilliant for films too as tried a DVD (Fifi, LOL) and it was superb quality.

Feck I'm sorted.

£280 well spent. Would've been lucky to get a 22" tele for that.

Its all down to how bothered you are about the quality

For example i can't watch shitty Cam Films i have to have DVD quality while others are more than happy to watch stuff like it

So putting that into PJ terms if your not that bothered about having a good picture all the time get a cheaper one

You definitely won't regret getting a HD PJ, you can't beat watching a 80-200" screen when gaming, watching films, TV or using the PC if you wish all in HD where it really does make a difference

Ask MJ if he regrets getting his which i helped talk him into

Another one that seems to have gotten really good reviews: http://www.projectorreviews.com/mitsubishi/hc3000u/index.php

Mitsubishi HC3000 , a really nice DLP Projector with HD resolution and nearly new lamp ( switched on about 6 months ago ) .

The projector is relatively small and compact , lets not very much and gives great picture is clearly in the class with new Full HD projectors at 10 000 kronor - class ( the This cost SEK 25 000 when it was launched ) .

Read the test of this projector : http://www.projectorcentral.com/mitsubishi_hc3000 .htm

One going for 2,900Kr (£260) on a Swedish 2nd hand site.

Yeah that Optima one should do just fine and the screens normally cost £100+ so that's a pretty good deal

Have you calculated how big your screen will be yet?

This has a short throw lens so at 10 feet (which mine is and i'm about 9 foot away from the screen which works well) you can get up to a 90" screen

Red Dead at 90" on a HD PJ will blow you away :)

It looks like we'll be going with the Mitsubishi HC3000 and then this screen:

Multibrackets motorized 16:9 projection screen 108 "
Multibrackets motorized projector screen is elegant with a white painted cassette . The canvas , cassette , chain and other hanging devices are robust, sustainable design . What is peculiar to Multibrackets is quality and reliability !
- 60 cm black drop
- Quiet motor located in the canvas roll
- Compact size and light construction
- Black border around the entire screen for better clarity
- Ability to IR extender as an option for Universal Remotes
- Ceiling and wall hanging option ( included as standard )

£220

The room is 4.5m long so I believe we calculated we can get up to a 120" screen :)

I just saw this one on Ebay which is much cheaper:

Orchid 120" View Screen - Electric HD Projection Screen in 16:9 - Matte White

This High Quality HD Remote Control Projection Screen from Orchid Projectors is one of the best value around and comes complete with a full 12 Month Guarantee.

£140 delivered

Other than the differences in mattwhite/glass bead/mattgrey is there anything else in particular to look out for when choosing a projector screen?

Whenever I've seen projectors, the screen size is very big which is good, but the picture quality is usually very poor?

No you should alright with any screen

I use MDF and and a certain type of paint and mine looks stunning

Like Placebo said it depends of what PJ you get and what the source its coming from

Mine looks brilliant even on SD Sky

Projector arrived on Friday and despite not having ceiling mount/projector screen or even sound system we managed to jerry rig it working with a shelf on the rear wall, sound through my PC and just projecting on the wall for now, even so it's awesome and we're really happy with it :)

Took a vid with my phone: YouTube - VIDEO0002 Nat was playing Saboteur on the 360 :)

Some pics:

Seems my phone's not very good in low light but it looks really good, hopefully getting a sound system tomorrow then will get the ceiling mount and projector screen in the next couple of weeks. We also got a "Popcorn Hour A-200" media player the other week which is awesome and works really well with the projector :)

Looks good. Thanks for posting some pictures up of the projector in operation, it looks very bright and detailed.

What size of screen are you running at?

What's it like in normal daylight? I seen some projectors that are bright enough to work in the day (without darkening the room).
