Experience the thrill of aerial combat with hundreds of enemy fighters, armored assaults and high-intensity infantry combat in a massive, all-out war fought both on the ground and in the skies in Warhawk, Sony's massive multiplayer-only game.

The Incog creation will be released on the PlayStation Network in the UK on August 28 and will cost £19.99. On September 21, the game will be released on Blu-ray and will come packaged with a Jabra bluetooth headset for £39.99.

Through various gameplay modes such as Team Deathmatch, Territories Mode and Capture the Flag, players engage in cooperative play or fend for themselves against enemies in thrilling and daring combat. During battle, players can take command of the most advanced war machine in the fleet, the Warhawk, capable of aerobatic dogfights at high speeds or hovering over ground troops providing tactical support.

Players can continue the battle on foot with an myriad selection of weaponry including rifles, flame throwers, grenades and more.

PSU cannot wait to feel the thrill of aerial and ground combat in Warhawk. We hope to see your flying prowess this August 28th!

Not too interested at the moment but if a demo comes out, i'll certainly give it a try.

Sony have cards you can buy in the shops (like MS Points) over in Japan I think, they should get that system over in Europe too as I know a lot of people without a credit card.

Saying that, even though it says credit card, it accepts my Visa Electron debit card :D

Well its £20 to buy online, but I believe in store its £32.99 from play.com and £35 from GAME and you get a cool looking headset with it! :D

I might get that even though I can use my old bluetooth headset I got with my K700i way back that I gave to my mum, luckily she still had it, and it works on the PS3, but the headset with warhawk matches the ps3 and can be charged using the usb charger for controllers, so I want that one haha :D

Someone said you can buy the headset for £14 delivered or something anyway?

For those in two minds whether to get the disc/data version:

Eurogamer.net:
Buy the Blu-ray Version
WarHawk is an excellent online game and the option to play it here and now via download, as an alternative to buying it from retail, is a great move. There's just something intrinsically cool about the whole concept and this game should've been the standard bearer for online delivery.

But in this case, downloading the game comes with a disappointing DRM penalty. Essentially, if you buy the game from the PlayStation Store, only the account that made the purchase has rights to play the game. And if you port that account to another PS3, there's a 24-hour delay before you can play again. The message here is clear - Sony has had enough of gamers sharing their accounts and giving away their games to other people for free. Fine.

While it is completely understandable for Sony to protect their investment in such an important game, the restrictions are overly prohibitive. Sony itself has set up a system for multiple users to play on the same PS3, with their own friends lists, game stats etc. But even sub-accounts connected to the main user profile are banned from playing WarHawk, so the message from Sony is obviously that only the person who buys the game - and him alone, nobody else in the household - should be able to play it. To me, that's a line that should not have been crossed.

SixAxis support is also something of a mixed bag - quite surprising considering that early Warhawk demo code was used to showcase the controller's motion sensor a couple of E3s ago. It's certainly entertaining enough in the flight sections if you're intent on a scenic journey around the large game maps, but in the heat of hardcore combat, the motion sensor's lack of precision is frankly a liability. It gets worse when using the jeep and tank, where SixAxis is expected to double up as a steering wheel. The jeep in particular is almost uncontrollable and while the sensitivity can be adjusted, that only serves to balls-up the fairly well adjusted controls for the flight mode. The fact that SixAxis support is disabled by default speaks volumes, and I can only suggest that you leave it that way.

What is strange is that Sony seemingly has nothing to lose by allowing sub-accounts using the same console to play WarHawk. It still kills off the game-sharing, it wipes out the possibility of reselling it, but crucially it doesn't handicap any legitimate use of the game by people who choose to download rather than buy the disc version. But with things the way they are now, I think opting for the retail WarHawk is the best way forward, not least because the Bluetooth headset you get isn't bad value at all, plus you're free to play the game on as many PS3s and/or accounts as you desire. The headset itself is a standard mid-range Jabra effort, meaning it's good for your mobile too.

It's disappointing to end this review on a sour note and it's all the more frustrating because every other online component of this game (dodgy voice chat aside) works so well and serves the gamer brilliantly. I've not had this much fun with the PS3 since... well, since I played the WarHawk beta, actually. Download DRM issues aside, this is a game that begs to played and enjoyed.

Did think about that but i dont know anybody else thats got a ps3 anyway so it wont really bother me, as for the headset i can get that jebra one for £12 and im enjoying playing it without some 10 year old tit yelling at me to get in his jeep.

downloaded today and playin now it feels very good and yes is like a battlefront game... getting connected really well and it is well worth 19.99 if you like this kind of game... online is very exciting although it's a bitch when you climb into a vehicle and get blown up one second later hahaha oh well i have to get some practice in...

Great, well this is a good sign. Installed and clicked "Online" to get an message saying an error retrieving the patch files and to try again. Three tries so far and none worked.

Edit: Test connection reveals UPNP not available and NAT type failed. Funny because my 360 connects just fine, the PS3 has connected well enough to play Calling All Cars and download things from the PSN just fine. But when I pay £20 for a game, I get errors? Not amused.

Right, well lesson learned. Last time I pay £20 for a buggy beta that Sony haven't sorted out before releasing. As well as this problem (which I notice other people having but nobody having a solution for), the official servers are always full, servers are down and the stats tracking is up the wall.

Aye, but there are loads of people having issues too. Check forums (official PS forums have a fair few too) of the problems also. Shitty really. Like I say, I've played Calling All Cars on the PS3 online before so it shouldn't be an issue with my network settings.

That is strange, you'd think that everyone would have the same problems. As mentioned the only real issue is no space on the ranked servers.

I wish they could do something with your friends list where you can invite mates to games like the 360. And another thing pissing me off is having to quit to read messages.

i think theyre gonna fix that with firmware updates but ud think sony would have that from the start, seeing they came out a year later.
