LOS ANGELES--Konami has announced that the next installment in its football series will launch in January 2007 on PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, PC, Xbox 360 and DS. The game will be called Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 internationally and will have offer a number of improvements that include new international teams and play modes.

Konami has promised that the game will offer faster gameplay, as players make runs without the ball, identify opportunities and point to where they want the ball delivered. Defenders will jockey for position and strikers will work to turn their opponent as they receive the ball, as well as taking more snap shots and precision volleys.

Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 will also offer new play modes, including an international challenge with four continents to play through, a random match selector that will create a team of players at random from a chosen league or area, and a master league mode that will last longer than before.

Konami has managed to acquire more international licences for the title, so Argentina, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden will all have the correct player names. There will be more club teams with accurate details when the game is released next year. We'll get an early play of the game at Konami's booth when it opens tomorrow, so we'll update you with our impressions shortly.

nice find on the pics...the only thing that scares me in the news release is that it says that the gameplay will be "faster"...i already think the gameplay is fast, so i hope it won't turn into a fifa-type, fast paced game turning into a hockey style gameplay...

So basically we'll get it in North America towards the end of 2007! Great, only 18+ months to wait for the next version of WE for us!

Konami have merged the names "WE" and "PES" together to remove international confusion.

Re: Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 (Xbox 360)

Here is the gamespot PS2 hands on:

LOS ANGELES--Earlier today, during a visit to Konami's E3 booth, we were able to spend some quality time with a PlayStation 2 demo of Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007, which will be titled Pro Evolution Soccer 6 in Europe. The demo featured only six international teams and a single stadium, but after two quick matches against a Konami PR person from the UK we needed no more convincing that Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka and his development team at KCET have once again found numerous ways to improve upon what was already a superb game engine.

Before our first match had even gotten underway, we noticed that the international teams we had chosen to play with were wearing authentic uniforms, and also that the likenesses of famous players like David Beckham and Gary Neville were more convincing than ever before. Things only got better once the ball started moving. Not only were the players under our control very responsive when in possession of the ball or defending, but their animations were totally convincing and included new feints, heel passes, and jostling when two opposing players are competing for a header. CPU-controlled players doing their thing off-the-ball were also impressive, largely because they were doing a great job not only of making runs and moving into space, but also of pointing to indicate where they'd like us to pass the ball to them.

Although dribbling the ball in Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 certainly appears to be a little easier than in previous games in the series, passing and shooting has been made a little more challenging. Your passes won't always find their target players simply because you were pointing your player in something vaguely resembling the right direction, and when you shoot, you'll find that the accuracy of your shot depends largely on the shape of the striker's body when the shot button is pressed. Shots that we unleashed immediately after beating a defender with a deft turn, for example, were often way off target, simply because our player was still off-balance.

Winning Eleven Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 definitely plays a more attack-minded game of soccer than its predecessors, but that certainly hasn't come at the expense of the game's defensive play. Defensive players are every bit as responsive as their attacking colleagues, and you'll retain the ball much more often after well-executed sliding tackles than has been the case previously.

Although the demo on display at E3 is quite limited, we managed to grab a few minutes with a Konami representative who was kind enough to tell us about some of the other new features that will appear in the finished game. Additional licensed uniforms for club and international teams will undoubtedly add to the game's sense of realism, while a new random match-generator mode will be great for players who want nothing more than to get into the game as quickly as possible. Winning Eleven Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 will also include a new "international challenge" mode that tasks you with leading your chosen international team through the qualifying rounds and finals of a major international tournament--don't be surprised if the tournament structure is similar to that of a certain competition kicking off in Germany next month. We look forward to bringing you more information on the game soon.

Sounds like WE10 to a tee.

Oh well, here's hoping for some 360 feedback, IF there is a playable 360 demo.

    www.computerandvideogames.com

    Seabass interview:

"We also talked Pro Evo on Xbox 360 with Seabass, and he's confident that our version will be the best in the series yet. "We really wanted to bring Pro Evo to the Xbox 360 at launch," he told us, "and we want to apologise to our fans that we haven't been able to do that. However, we have been working for a very long time on Pro Evo for Xbox 360 and we're confident that it will be great."

Seabass promised us that the Xbox 360 version will feature far more realistic ball physics (the team has done "exhaustive research" into this apparently, which we reckon means they've been playing five-a-sides too much), player animations, refereeing decisions and collision detection.

One particular area he really wants to work on is the goalkeepers. "In Pro Evo when a player shoots from close range he is guaranteed to score, but in real football a keeper sometimes makes a spectacular reaction save. I want to bring those kind of goalkeeping heroics to the Xbox 360 version of Pro Evo."

Seabass also believes that Pro Evo will help shift the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live in Japan when it launches - a view backed up by Ninety-Nine Nights producer Sangyoun Lee. "I think we'll help the Xbox 360 in Japan because our game is so great!" laughed Seabass modestly."

Well definitely sounds to me like they plan on a global release of this 'universal' rebirth of the WE/PES franchise.

Online Play will rock... bringing together players from all regions hopefully. Nth/Sth America, Japan/Asia, Europe...etc, oh yeah!

Adriano looks simply AMAZING. If all players/jerseys were at his level of detail... this game would be perfect.

However, Did anyone notice: NEITHER SCREENS show the grass on the pitch.... COuld it be because it still SUCKS?? I mean the grass in FIFA next-gen was phenomenal...

i also told this is another topic. the above is from gamer.nl and it says the US version is called
pro evo 2007 while the EU version is named pro evolution 6. US version will launch early next year,
and the EU version in october, also for the xbox360.

On this french link they say it won't have a PES6 in Europe this year for PS2, it'll be an XBOX360 exclusive game for 6 months,
until the PS3 version (they spoke with Konami people).
Don't know what to think now about a PS2 release this year on PS2 ?
