PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Guess it's time to start playing Argentinian/Brazilian leagues.
To bad they can't be used in European ML,and the other way around

Feeling happy for my Brazilian friends :) And as a Chilean myself, I can't wait to see Marcelo Salas and Ivan Zamorano in the game.

I'm just wondering what Socrates look I want to feature. The headband would be cool as, and would it be the best football game ever if they capture his style, right down to that languid stride and those lovely wee back heel passes he played back in the day? Probably.

Seriously the best news regards this game yet for me. Proper legend they have got there. Absolute hero (RIP). I was only 6 for Spain 82, and Socrates is a true football icon to me. Never forgot him once I saw him. A vivid memory from my childhood.

Och, good ol' PES. I'm absolutely over the moon about this.

same here my friend same here.
it has been a while since i have looked forward to the new PES this much.

Yeah, from late 2009 through to June 2013 I was pretty active on WENB. I think I said I was getting fed-up with community involvement and wasn't because of WENB. Actually, it was more that it wasn't WENB at all, but just me. I felt like I should be growing out of it and with my private life a wee bit all over the shop (I'll touch on this in my proper follow up to my previous lengthy posts) that feeling gathered more and more steam.

Okay, so what I say now is not aimed directly at anyone. Is just something I want to get off my chest.

There are a good few folk throughout the communities who give Adam stick and have given me stick for defending him; as if the only reason I was doing so was because he was getting me access, or that he or Konami had brainwashed me when I forgot to put the community endorsed tin-foil hat on, or something. As I have said prior, I have a large, good circle of lifelong friends up where I live, but during that difficult time that ran from 2011 through 2012 and even into 2013, Adam was like a brother to me, especially after my break-up with my girlfriend. Dude would phone me every night just to make sure I was keeping my chin up. Dude would pay money out of his own pocket to ensure I got down to see the game and got out and about, away from all that was familiar. He wasn't trying to buy praise for the game, as he was at WENB at the time, not Konami. He just wanted me to play it asap. Romagnoli was invited to his house to play PES2012 early code as well, if I recall, but he was part of another group. All this done at his family home. Dude, when I flew into Manchester, alone, following my mates wedding week in Greece 2012 came and picked me up and he and his wife put me up for the night. I wasn't booked to fly into Glasgow along with the others in the wedding party due to all the uncertainty surrounding arrangements, so when I left them I was a pretty vulnerable soul, filled with emotion. Adam made sure my journey home wasn't a long and very lonely feeling one. He didn't know what I was feeling and as I didn't share it, but that journey home, sitting in the airport with just my thoughts and emotions, was a difficult one. Adam's gesture was a tiny thing in the grand scheme of things but it was welcome and he had no obligation to do that. Adam is very much a friend. I think it was post-PES2016 transfer update news that someone from here, whom I thankfully don't remember, replied "good" when someone posted that he was getting racist and threatening PM's on facebook. I replied to that guy asking him to post his real name and not hide behind his username. I asked them to put their name, in full, on it. I'm glad they didn't, because that was crossing a personal line.

I have started speaking to Adam on the phone again recently, but I will get into why that is "again" when I come back to this. We didn't fall out, but I did fall out with just about everything else about me and my life, which is what the next part will cover.

I'll say this though: Adam is no fraud when it comes to PES. People will not embrace that for numerous reasons, but the fact is the guy's passion for the series is beyond question. I'll also say this: if a time came when someone from here or elsewhere among the various communities were to land a role working on the game and I didn't know them personally, perhaps didn't get along with them in discussions, I would give them my full support, along with feeling relieved that representation for us guys was to continue. I don't think we truly appreciate how good we have got it in that regard. Nobody is perfect, and we will not always see eye to eye with others, but we do have a true fan representing the game globally. I hope that continues for years to come, whoever is in the role.

I'm catching up with this thread after a few days away and I just wanted to thank you for this post.
Really insightful and I loved reading about your relationship with Adam.
I always defended him and believed in the job he's doing. But this post made me like him even more.

I didn't even know about you (or Romagnoli) being so into PES to this level.
I thought you were just passionate about playing it at home and then sharing opinions and debating about it here.

Big ups.

If all you wanted to do is play in any fully-licensed league, you've got options - but the global popularity just isn't there for those leagues, sadly, so from a sales point of view, it only helps in those parts of the world. (It all adds up, don't get me wrong, but licenses other than "the biggies" that Konami will never have just don't matter from a global sales perspective, I don't think.)

I feel like they clearly focus on where the game sells well - South America, for example - and where they can realistically challenge EA in terms of wrestling any licenses away from them. Can't blame them for that - but it doesn't fix the problem of 2-3 of the world's most popular leagues (that maybe 50%+ of football fans follow) being reduced to fake names and plain T-shirts.

I just can't shake the idea that if importing a complete option file was as easy as pressing "Option File Centre" from the main menu of the game and selecting the download package you want, there would be a legion of football fans who'd suddenly go "I don't think I can play FIFA again now".

I guess the issue would be where to host them - Konami can't host them or they'd have legal issues, and Sony wouldn't allow the community to use their own links (you could send people to porn or viruses or anything).

I just feel like, if PES doesn't sell more copies than it does now, they'll never have the investment to do more than a couple of things per year (such as adding "chairman expectations" to the ML, which on its own just seems ... lame).

Speaking as a big fan of the game, it sucks that we're in a place where just adding a new stadium is such financial/time drain away from the priorities that it only happens once every two years - nor can they even provide a stadium editor.

Great post. I've fed this back to Adam because, hopefully, he'll just take some notes for future years.
I remember playing Fight Night Champion when I had a PS4 (before I got tired and sold it) and loving the way you could browse and download new characters created by other fans/players from within the game. Some were very well recreated (like Maravilla Martinez or even fictional characters such as Rocky Balboa or Apollo Creed).

That's the right path for Konami/PES to take. It will definetely take up some extra work to come up with this "Option File Centre" but could also be worth a lot more money for them, because it will increase interest from every football game fan out there. If done properly (organized, simple, yet powerful) it would just cost EA/FIFA to lose so many fans.

agree with you! amazing player. Incredible legend for PE 2018

This year KONAMI have been Ace in promoting their game. Trailers, gameplay videos, the early beta, constant bit by bit information which helps to make the anticipation grow day by day. I haven't seen anything yet which they did wrong (apart from Usain Bolt).
They really studied FIFA's marketing playbook and executed it to perfection.
They are bursting with convidence and who can blame them. This game looks and plays amazing at the moment. Hope the demo and final product just adds to that.
Normally the big news gets announced just before the release of the game, so after all that we have already heard there is probably still a surprise coming.
I really wonder what it will be.

I think the more licenses and partnerships PES can get the better. More fans on board and more people talking about it, and with improved gameplay and visuals hopefully the EPL and Bundesliga will want a slice of the pie which can only benefit the people that play football games if they have a choice between FIFA and PES without needing to mess around with option files or have licensing as a deterrent. I'm happy to play with any of these teams included if the gameplay is good, which it seems to be so far :)

does anyone know how.many stadiums we will.have in the ps4 and the pc version? are we getting the same amount for both? i just wanna decide on which platform i wanna buy im confused, since on pc u can mod the hell.out of it, on.ps4 only teams squads can be edited, no stadiums...

Hopefully all the Brazilian teams will finally have real player names and appearances then...

And by the way, hopefully this image taken from the trailer doesn't mean anything:

I just hope that the PC cover is missing just because maybe they've decided not to release it in stores for PC but to make it available only on Steam (there's the logo) but knowing what Konami did for all these years this scares me a little.

LOL. Finally my team + São Januário stadium in the game. Well played Konami!:EASY:
happy to know! For soccer lovers, this vasco stadium of the gama "são januário" was built by its own supporter in a time when football here did not accept blacks and poor and so the vasco of the range was withdrawn (downgraded) from the elite of Brazilian football (Rio de Janeiro ) And one of the answers came through this beautiful building made and donated by the fans themselves!

Nice trailer and I love the details from Sao Januario! I could recognize some stadiums in the trailer:

Maracana
Arena Corinthians
Estadio Urbano Caldeira
Estadio Morumbi
Estadio Beira-Rio
Allianz Parque

Maybe there are some more?

Thank you for educating me on the history behind it.

Thanks pal, very interesting read and very unique stadium to have, I agree.

Is the Sun even relevant anymore? All they do is spew random crap to get attention.
Sadly (and by "sadly", I mean, devastatingly so), they are. But let's not go into it - just thought it was worth flagging the article, A) for discussion and B) to remind people that it's not worth taking anything they write on PES in the future seriously, given the state of that seemingly-sponsored piece of word-vomit.

The Sun are always getting digs in for rivals of their business or business partners, protecting their own interests is the nice way of putting it

hello

The kind people @ Only pro evolutions told me that this is best place for pes 2018 option file. willl you be selling on this platform and will it be paypal?

thanks community

I hope Socrates will be in the next PES. He was an impressive personallity, leading the 1982 World Cup Brazilian team.
Apart from Holland 1974 I was never so disappointed after a team lost. Brazil's playing style was fantastic. Really disappointing that they lost to Rossi's Italy.

Socrates studied at UCD Dublin in the 70's and a myth started that lasted over 30 years that he played for the college reserve football team but couldn't make the first team ... .finally the myth was debunked, although he did study there.

you see, I couldnt care less about socrates, brazilian retro kits or player faces......

where are the new stadiums, improved shooting physics, better online experience??

i look at replies to adam and asim on twitter and its player faces 99 times out of 100 times.

seriously, this is the least of our worries.

pes 2018 beta was very good but still needs work done hopefully newer build is better as prmised by pes team
