I have a general idea about what overlocking means and I have the SmartDoctor software that came with the graphics card that allows me to overclock. I really want to get the most out of my graphics card and system and feel that overclocking the graphics card could be the answer.

My main problem is that I don't know which settings to have it on when overclocking. What is the safe amount to overclock to?

Below is a screenie of the software. Basically there are sliders that allow you to boost the shader, engine etc..

System:

Dell Precision 380 Workstation (Default Motherboard)
Pentium D 3.20GHZ Dual Core
2GB DDR RAM
250GB HDD
700W PSU
GFX Card: ASUS EN8800GT 512MB (plugged into PCI Express x16 port)

Yeah I had a fiddle with the settings, didn't seem to make much of a difference.

Think I'll leave it then. Thanks for the help MJ and for the optimism YoungGun ;))

not worth overclocking a graphics card, doing so will shorten the life of it, and you wont see a noticable difference, very dodgey given the temps the 8800's run at clocked normally.
