top 10 strikers of all time

Great topic. Hmmm:

- Pelé.
- Maradona.
- Van Basten.
- Müller.
- Cruyff.
- Ronaldo.
- Di Stéfano.
- Platini.
- Batistuta.
- Raúl.

And there's a reason why I put Raúl in, before anyone asks. And this reason is that he is the top scorer in Champions League / European Cup history, with 49 goals. I think that the top European Cup scorer, plus top active scorer in La Liga and top Spanish National Team scorer belongs in that list.

Pele
Maradona
Van Basten (scored my fave goal of all time against USSR in Euro 88 final.
Di Stefano
Cruyff
Eusebio
Muller
Ian Rush (clinical finishing)
Zico
Dixie Dean (different era but 60 goals are 60 goals!)

Agree with Gedtillo for most choices - a few are personal preference but thats what makes footy great isn't it?

Not in order.

- Pelé (Brazil)
- Gabriel Batistuta (Argentina)
- Marco Van Basten (Netherlands)
- Eusebio (Portugal)
- Ronaldo (Brazil)
- Johan Cruyff (Netherlands)
- Ferenc Puskas (Hungary)
- Romario (Brazil)
- Gerd Müller (Germany)
- Leónidas (Brazil)

I think threadstarter should change the topic to Top 10 Forwards of All Time.Looking at that 3 list posted above, every one of them includes Johann Cruyff.I dont think he operates as a striker? Hes is the classic winger. An example of great strikers are Van Basten & Ronaldo, always up there, waiting for chances.A Striker is someone whom scored thru chances created by the Forward,eg Kluivert and Bergkamp.Just my two cents...Cheers~

I thought that, but as I was the first to answer I preferred to put in other forwards. If it was JUST about strikers:

- Ronaldo.
- Müller.
- Van Basten.
- Batistuta.
- Pelé.
- Puskas.
- Eusebio.
- Raúl.
- Kempes.
- Kopa.

Gerd Muller
Marco Van Basten
Kenny Dalglish
Tostao
Paolo Rossi
Ian Rush
Rabah Madjer
Mario Kempes
Eusebio
Erwin Vandenbergh

Pele
Eusebio
Van Basten
Ronaldo
Di Stefano
Romario
Batistuta
Muller
Zola
Bergkamp/Cantona (kinda undecided)

2 or 3 of them are personal choices, although knowing there are better.

I think he was a striker in many matches he played, but his main position was as midfielder, it's difficult to cataloguing; for example I never would consider Maradona as a striker.
But, if is only forwards of area:

- Gabriel Batistuta (Argentina)
- Marco Van Basten (Netherlands)
- Eusebio (Portugal)
- Ronaldo (Brazil)
- Pelé (Brazil)
- Ferenc Puskas (Hungary)
- Romario (Brazil)
- Gerd Müller (Germany)
- Leónidas (Brazil)
- Sandor Kocsis (Hungary)

Zola.....aah, now there was a good player. For impact on a team, Cantona has to be there too. Damn, can't we have top 12 or something? I just thought of some more.:D

No order :

Batistusta
Romario
Pelé
Platini
Jean-Pierre Papin
Van Basten
Di Stefano
Puskas
Henry
Ronaldo

PS: not in my list but "Just Fontaine" score 13 goals in one World Cup :applause:

How bout strikers you saw playing in your days and not strikers that your grandad told you about, (talkin about maradona, pele, van basten, etc, fair play to the older members here)

Anyway, here's mine (in no particular order):

Batistuta
Signori
Weah
Cantona
van Nistelrooy
Raul
Le Tissier
Solskjaer
Suker
Roberto Mancini

the greatest striker actually is thierry henry and not ronaldo
ronaldo is fat and not a great striker
and especially he is not dignified to be enumerated with other players like maradonna, müller and pele
