The Fight Night Thread (for the original and yearly updates)

Whoot a friend of mine downloaded the image from my HD and he's gonna drop a DVD round tomorrow :)

Well EA's site says it's out April 5th, UK shop websites say May sometime, I've Emailed play.com (who I've bought things from), ign (who I pay a subscription to) & EA (who I guess want me to buy the game) asking them all to confirm UK/EU release date and none of them bothered to reply :(

I tried hte demo earlier, seems fun if not groundbreaking. Animation is great though :)

Yeah I've played the demo for a couple of hours now, great fun, with there only being two rounds it's hard not to get drawn into a slugfest but I'm doing ok, haven't managed a knockout win yet, best I've done is had Toney down in each round :)

i finally fixed my ps2, so it can play dvd games again!

so i got the dvd demo instead.

i think its fantastic. its nice and smooth.

can't wait for this to be released. websites say 30th april UK.

I dont think u can get a KO win

I have knocked my oppo out twice in each round and he still got up after 8

Best I'm up to now is Toney down twice in the 1st and once in the 2nd, cool thing was because I was slugging away at him he managed to get a flash knockdown on me because my punch bar was at zero :) I'm pretty much button mashing because there's no point going for strategy in a 2 round fight but I can definitely see the potential for "real" boxing tactics in full fights, the demo certainly has me convinced this is one I'll be buying :)

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to play it online :( When it comes out I will have moved to a foreign land where the best internet available is only 100kbs :(

Good lord I played the demo last night and it is brilliant. I was pounding Toney's face with my right cross until it was bruised and swolen. He unleased a combo but I ducked and rolled away from 3 punches. Then I popped up and nailed him with a right hook that his swollen left eye never saw coming. Blood sprayed in an arcing fountain of domination.

. . . the next round he knocked me out so bad, that my right leg was dangling on the rope.

Beautiful.

Seems there may not be online play for those outside North America :(

http://www.gamer.tv/page/feature/23126723.htm

Details are scattered like teeth at the moment, but from what we can glean via various sources there'll be online play but only in the US

I was gutted when someone posted that on the IGN board, really hoping it's not true, but I was surfing places like play.com and amazon etc and in the blurbs they have there is no mention of online play :(

In fact I got banned from the IGN forums cos I got a smidge irked when I heard it couldn't be played online in the UK :(

Wouldn't mind so much but I paid a sodding subscription to IGN as well :(

i hate those IGN boards, anyway dude. Their board on WE7 is downright embarassing. Evo-Web is da place to be.

Man - I hope you guys get on-line play. I really wanted to square off against you, Placebo. You sound like a "pugilist specialist". haha.

PEACE

I wonder what would stop me from buying the USA version and playing that online? Would they block non North American IP's or something?

Either way it looks like the career mode is going to be solid, you can create fighters and put them in a division and then when you start a career game you can end up fighting the created fighters, so that's good for the many great boxers that have been left out :)

If the FIght Night community is as good as the Winning Eleven community, we might get great patches and new arenas. Hopefully somebody will create other fighters for downloading like Razor Ruddock or Ike Ibeabuchi. Or even a Frank Bruno model that looks great for 2 rounds and then stands like a statue once the third round starts. :D

I played the demo for the second time last night and got my first knockdown. I was Toney and pushed Roy into the corner. Landed a special punch, and then a series of alternating hooks. as he slumped and tilted in the corner on his way to the mat, I caught him with a final right hook and nearly seperaed his fekking head from his shoulders. Bitch bounced off the ropes!! Scintillating!!
