Posting 'embeddable players'

I'll wait for Mart to show up, though he said he won't be online this weekend. Thanks for pointing it out.

Ok for some reason the Xbox forum had HTML code on, this is now off so that embed method won't work there now either.

In better news, I've installed a mod that takes a normal link from YouTube and automatically makes it an embedded video, this should work in all forums.

I edited your post above to test it.

nice!

is it just for YouTube links?
because i tried a link from ConsoleGoals, and it didn't embed in a 'Winning Eleven' section/thread.

It's a general mod that someone made so ConsoleGoals/GameKlip won't be recognised. I'll have a look at the code to see if it can be personalised.

Little bump to this, is dailymotion "embeddable" at all? video quality is generally better than youtube so would be nice if we can use that instead?

Sorry for the delay, it should be possible once I get round to looking into it properly but I haven't had the time recently to do so.

I've just found out that dailymotion isn't possible unfortunately. I'm not sure why but it must be something to do with how they deliver their videos.

Others are still pending.

Aha ok thanks, well if you come across any embeddable video hosters which offer better video quality than youtube please report to me immediately! ;)

BTW on the Singapore GameAxis forum dailymotion is embeddable, their forum is vBulletin® Version 3.6.5, I didn't even realise it was embeddable on their forum until I found out by accident after linking a replay of mine http://forums.gameaxis.com/showpost.php?p=21163847&postcount=1452

Hmm interesting. Maybe it's just the mod I'm using that can't handle it. If I get time at some point I'll see if it's something I can bodge.

Ok I left a question asking how they do it, if it helps any both youtube and dailymotion vids are embedded by pasting the embeddable code, rather than simply posting the youtube link as works here......

<div><object width="425" height="335"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/36wd3RoJARRzsnCjS"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/36wd3RoJARRzsnCjS" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="335" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always"></embed></object><br /><b><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3cn8w_fifa-08-sean-mcallister-goal-v-cove_videogames">Fifa 08 Sean McAllister goal v Coventry City</a></b><br /><i>Uploaded by <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/Placebo_SG">Placebo_SG</a></i></div>

Doesn't quite work the same ;)

Seeing as Dailymotion was never implemented, what about EASW? They now allow embedding apparently so it would be good to have implemented as it'll mean we can share Fifa09 goals fare more easily than before, here's the code from my Tiger Woods hole in one:

<object width="425" height="355">

Strange you should bring this up as in the last few days an update has been released that does support DailyMotion and is a bit more configurable so I was going to pay for and install that. Once I've done so, convincing them to add other sites should be a lot easier.

I've just been short of time recently to install updates and the like. If I don't get around to it before then, I'll install it this Saturday along with a couple of forum maintenance releases and we can take it from there.

That's really sweet, shame you have to pay for it, how much? The forum software is $180US per year right? I just persuaded Bohemia Interactive's IT guy to buy the same one for our new forums based on my experiences here ;)

VB costs either $100 a year or $180 to buy it then $40 per year for updates after the first year.

The embedded videos option that we've used so far is the one that now has a new version for a bit of money, we're only talking $5-6 but it's 3rd party, which is why it costs and it does have some nice options. That and once you pay for something, feature requests are more readily received. :)

Aha that's awesome, as I mentioned we'll be using this software soon as our official forums so if you have any advice/warnings I'd really appreciate hearing them :)

Can you send me the link to the 3rd party video embedding thing you use please? :)

The upgrade has gone in now. Loads of video sites are supported, I'll list them below.

There is also the option to switch off auto embedding if you prefer to just see the links in threads. User CP > Edit Options > Thread Display Options > Passive Video.

Supported sites:

blip
break
brightcove
collegehumor
dailymotion
expertvillage
gamespot
gametrailers
gmx
godtube
google
izlesene
liveleak
livevideo
megavideo
metacafe
movieweb
mtv
myspace
myvideo
onsmash
photobucket
revver
sapo
sevenload
sina
streetfire
tu.tv
tudou
veoh
viddler
vidiac
vidmax
vimeo
worldstarhiphop
yahoo
youku
youmaker
youtube

Let me know if you have any problems, I did a quick test with DailyMotion and that seemed ok.

EDIT: The author is already aware of the spelling issue in the User CP, by the way, don't worry.

Good job on the upgrade Mart :)

Weird, video doesn't show for me :(

Edit: Shit it shows in IE but not in FF, no idea how to fix it in IE :(
