I looked around but nobody has spoken about this.

'WE will feature four players offline but only two players online via Xbox Live. Konami says the difficulties in working on a new platform make more than two players on Live too difficult. Konami didn't allow us to take media of the game, so just imagine a smoother, faster, high-def version of the PS2 game and you'll get the idea. We will have media soon, however'

obviously there is no 11 vs 11, knew that wasn't gonna happen but does that mean we can't do say me and my mate on the same console on xbox live against someone else? isn't very clear is it.

It isn't very clear but as the announcement yesterday specifically mentioned 8 player online (4 systems, 2 players on each) for PS2/PC and there was no mention of the Xbox/360 version being any different to last year, I'd say it was a safe bet that Live will only have 1 vs 1.

well i have pro Evo 5 and i'm playing it on 360 and i can play my mate and me on one console against someone else on live so if that still works i'll be happy.

I will not be happy. Why can they program lobbies (last year) and this year 4 vs 4 on the PS2 and nothing near to it on a next generation machine? We complained a lot about the poor LIVE functions on the PES 4 and PES 5, so if they kept things the same at LIVE, I would be very disappointed... Even more because they made big improvements at the PC/PS2 versions with on-line functions.

the way to look at it is that linking up 4 PS2s is a stupid thing that not many people will do. you have to get 3 of your mates to lug around 3 PS2s and then link them up and play all on one tv? its just to much to do just so we can have 8 players so i'm not too bothered by that.

i would also say that as xbox 360 version had updated visuals they needed more time on the 360 version. konami always start the new PES game straight after the last one has been released, it takes them a whole year to do the PS2 version so when it came to the 360 version they had to do updated visuals and update the gameplay on a system they haven't used before. i think PES7 will be quality and i'm sure PES6 will be to but they are still getting used to the xbox 360 and what they can get out of it.

like i said, as long as you can do 2 players on the same console vs another 2 on the same console, everything will be fine. 11 vs 11 even though interesting wouldn't work well in practice in my opinion.

I think the IGN article is poor.

How can Konami get 2-on-2 working on the old XBox, but can't on 360, which has far superior LIVE integration to it's predecessor?

it isn't very clear but maybe you can still do 2 vs 2 on the same console. maybe they are just squashing all reports on the 11 vs 11 or 2 vs 2 with everyone having different consoles. lets see what happens...i can't see konami releasing it online with just 1 vs 1 period.

I can see you are positive about Konami and I was so for a long time.
Now, however, I have the feeling that they are not telling the truth.
If you read from a source that they need to port the PS2 version for the time of a year, then there is a friction beween that and Seabass' remark that they create a special squad for next-generation games. Can you see what I mean? Ofcourse, they still need time to port the PS2 version, but they are next generation-specialists and should be easily able to do the job within the year.
Do you remember what we said last year about the poor LIVE programming from PES 5? We said: With PES 6 everything will be fine...
What do we say right now? With PES 7... You got it ;)

Spot on mate,I'm a little pissed,as even on this is football 2004(ps2),you could invite or join a second player from anywhere,to play a 2v2 match, and it was great fun.
Get the finger out Nokami.:(

In the end we will never know the actual truth with what went on with development on this game, anyone can say anything can't they. I wouldn't say im positive about konami though :D i'm always annoyed about the keepers not being good enough (especially online!) and the fact henry is faster than god and they make him so dam slow compared to other players. konami have a lot to answer for but in the end you never see true next gen games till the second cycle and PES6 is first cycle. everyone will have their opinion and maybe konami could of done more. lets see what happens when the game comes out or we get a demo...keep your fingers crossed :)
