PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Man, just had a match ruined by the ole catch up bug. It seems to maybe vary by match, but wow, just wow. There was no point in even having wingers - I'd beat a man, then the full back would just catchup, do the old stumble bug and wham, done and done.

Why can't anyone program a decent football game without requiring the CPU to cheat to be competitive? If Antonio Valencia skins you and gallops off at full pelt, Michael Dawson is rather unlikely to catch him, make him stumble and dispossess him.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I tend not to bother with adam (Cos he hypes things alot good and bad) but a few features he had claimed to hate in the past were actually good ones so seeing him here single handedly try to change a game feature we the public have not seen is scaring me cos it might be something good.

He needs to know his place or get a job at konami. It affects us all.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Played few matches on demo 2. I liked more than 1. The pace and speed is a little more faster, but i liked it. The animations are way far better. About the shooting, i like more now than the cannons from the previous one. But i have two unforgivable things:

1. When you make a through pass generally the defender doesn t run to the ball but runs with the attacking player until he get the ball, and the just there he star to defend.

2. GK against top players kickers, on free kicks is awful. Pirlo scored a 30 mts FK and the ball when just right to my GK body. He just made the foolish move ever. Here s the video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4brIQyUJf18&

Without this flaws. The game is pure joy.
I posted a video almost identical to that from demo 1 in the videos section..turned it off after that as it just ruined the game

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Well he describes the new ML as one of the 'darkest days in PES history'. Fuck me. If they've totally ballsed up ML they'll lose a lot of people to FIFA, me included. FIFA's Career Mode is excellent these days and improving all the time.

What could they have done to the game?!

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Oh dear. Whilst I am always inclined to 'give benefit of the doubt' if Adam is saying he is unimpressed with the ML changes, that is....well...not great. It's like Jesus saying the Bible is shit.

If the rumours are true, I can only shake my head in complete and utter disbelief. They truly are an amazing company, unfortunately in a slightly less than positive way.

I'm a PESite, always have been. I fear for this year. My disposable income is getting less and less like most probably, and this will the first year that there is a straight PES v FIFA shoot out. I hope, I really hope, that KONAMI haven't fked up the only unfkable thing in PES favour. I'm off down the church to pray lol!

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I was worried about ML as soon as I saw those early videos showing that you needed to buy training gear like weights, cones, stopwatches etc. That has a very amateur football feel about it. A manager of a professional team shouldn't really need to concern himself with such things.
I have a fear that it maybe turning into a very RPG style mode, which the Japanese love so much. In fact, I often wonder what the feedback from the Japanese PES playing community is. Their feedback may be very different to European and North/South American consumers and may carry a lot of weight.
Let's hope we don't see a ML where you have to arrange dates for your players by talking to anime girls. Depending on your charm or strength level and if you answer their questions right or wrong, you may or may not get a date for one of your players, decreasing or increasing his morale. (Mostly joking of course but can't 100% say Konami would never do this)

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

If he said, that ML will be less authentic this year than it was before than it says something people.

This guy always hyped PES games. Just read him saying gameplay is excellent (it's v. good, but excellent is exaggerating, there is no stamina system in place, AI pressuring 90+ mins without fail, etc.).

But... If he said ML is bad this year, I would rather believe it.

Btw for me the switch from Master League system to Football Life was a disaster. Can't stand it even now. FIFA despite having limited gameplay, has the best Career Mode and well thought out.

If KONAMI blew ML and news come from guys who can speak after embargo, I may cancel pre-order. Shame, as I really like both demos, but it's ML for what I would buy this game this year :/.

Pirlo does score a lot of free kicks like that in 2013, but that's because Konami gave Pirlo knuckle shot card. Fixable in offline mode, but it could be very annoying online, since those knuckles are way overpowered (in terms of GKs handling them) for years now.

Generally, I'd be a lot more worried if players without knuckle card are going to do that on a regular basis.

Yup, Conceded this exact same goal in my first ever game on the new demo. Just when i began to feel like Goalies were feeling more reliable, that happened.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Knuckle shot is overpowered. The KONAMI guys must love C. Ronaldo freekicks so much that they are blind to see he doesn't score that many FKs irl :D.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Finally got round to play this Demo 2 on the PS3. I don't know if there's a difference between consoles - seeing how some people complained about frame rate on the X360 and my mate was utterly dissatisfied with shots and CPU cheapting.

But at least for me this game hits the spot! The shots were toned down considerably but are in now way as floaty as people are suggesting. It's just toned down. Remains to be seen if we would be able to hit cannons with the players who can actually do it (Ronaldo, Gerrard, Ibra).
However I had the impression that all shots were cannons in that knuckle shot tutorial :P

I think the passes are finally sorted for the best! In Demo 1 they were to slow (even filling the gauge all the way) but now they're spot on. Manual passing is a joy to use too. I put Alexis Sanchez through on several occasions.
Playing with a number 10 type of playmaker will be a joy.

I don't know about the catch up bug because I've played most matches with Barcelona and Alexis Sanchez has supernatural speed. I'd like to assess this aspect better later on.

Trapping long balls with R2 (or R3) is really interesting and the knuckle shot is also a nice addition.
Good idea to include the training mode in the Demo too! I think they should have included the full training mode (what's the harm in that)? We can only benefit from it and practice before the game is released, and then we can hit the ground running! :D

I'm very optimistic now that the Demo 2 came better. I don't know about the Master League rumours (what could it be so bad about it?)
But whatever it is, I will still play it. Hell, we used to play Master Leagues with mixed leagues in it - the most important thing is gameplay. For me, 2012 was unplayable against the AI. Now I look forward to it.

BTW, I played most matches on Top Player, and they were tight matches. I didn't see any element of CPU cheating (yet).

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

For anyone having problems with goalkeepers not saving well against freekicks, this is something I learned from PES 2012:

Just put the goalkeeper in the center of the goal and he will be much better at saving the dangerous freekicks.

You're obsessed. It is highly amusing.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

The free-kick worries were here this time last year. As henrys hand just said, manually move the keeper more towards the likely target area for the CPU's shot. Even with knuckle shots, they react better when not in their default spot. This way, I only conceded around 8-10 in 9 months of playing PES2012. And they were to FK specialists, not AI superhumans.

How do you move the goal keeper for free kicks?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Game is good but I'm still not happy with the jogging animations and player ID doesn't stand out. Also majority of players control the ball very similar I hate to say it but this game is slowly turning into fifa. I also don't like the fact that every single player can do skill moves. Skill moves should only be limited to players that are known to do skill moves.
Overall passing, shooting is awesome. Players feel more free to control which is good. But is this game a football sim not even close. AI Tactics for different teams honestly it's a load of BS . Fingers crossed the full release is better

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I really hope that this Bhatti boy turns out to be on smack at the moment and ML has at least been left as it is. Can't believe I've just said that, but if it's got worse since the last game, I'm just doing without. I've played PES2012 far too much and I wouldn't even attempt to smoke the Rutter sausage all year.

My guess at this apparent balls-up is that the items they've added to ML for things like training, such as dumbbells, creatine powders and "ripped in 4 weeks" spam emails, are to either be earned by playing MLO and / or purchasing them with real monies. Cash or MLO progress for GP.

Could also involve GP being used for wage & transfer funds, or a special Seabass-fronted chopstick edition of Donkey Kong: Jungle Beats where you play a rhythm game to encourage your players to get jiggy with it on the training pitch and bond the team more. Super downside - you do it every fucking day and there'll always be a fringe player complaining he "never gets in the first row and feels he is more than adequate".

I think you've nailed it :P

I think the changes might be similar, a more story-driven ML with bizarre tasks and less managerial decisions. Maybe the managerial running of the club has been totally removed with the game acting as your chairman, even arranging transfers for you whether you like it or not.

Either way I'm now of the conclusion that Konami, as a company, simply don't have a fucking clue what their customers want, certainly in the western markets.

I did lol.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Konami are like Japanese Pete Doherty's, high as kites! Flawed geniuses, but are we surprised? nope.

Anyway, take what Adam says with a pinch of salt, I don't get why people hang off his every word.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Seriously, a trained monkey could walk in and state what the public want from ML. More decisions, more leagues, more options, more realism. The entire footballing world is openly at their disposal as a template to design a realistic ML and yet they come up with the most bizarre decisions. It's like they're all high or something.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

More from Adam:

Hey guys.

I'll be posting some details up later. Managed to speak to some folks. It's very important that I gather impressions from you lot on what you think and send it back to Konami.

It's nothing that can be altered though, so it's not as if I'm on a mission to save ML in PES 2013. But, with this new direction it's important to get as much feedback as possible to make Konami aware this new direction they have taken is not what fans want.

But, if I've read this all wrong, you can also tell me it is what you want.

I'm going to present you ML in PES 2013 in a completely unbiased way. Just detail it to you. And all I want is your feedback. I'll be using a poll too, but hosted elsewhere so you can send this all over the internet and get as many impressions as possible.

More later.

Thanks.

Some people don't, or at least have learned the hard way. BUT - it's normally in the over-positive side of things that we can take Adam with a pinch of salt. So...when he says what he has said given the background of the guy and the current context, I'm of the opinion that ML is now truly fked. This would then put an end to my love affair with PES, as clearly, like Suupertalk says, KONAMI are just fkin trippin'.

Looks like I'm Rutter's bitch this year.....and it hurts so bad.

You are obsessed and psychotic :P.

I think they included Micro transactions like EA. But Adam did not notice they were "optional"?
Adam and crew often have shorter memory when it comes to old pers features. It could be a new training scheme that forces you to do performance training to improve players and they hate it.
Remember how Adam hated manual passing and did not remember that manual passing was in PES 1 to Pes 2008 on the right stick

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I they have really F'kd ML up I have no problems playing 2012 for another year. I spend nearly all my PES time in ML and I wont be buying 2013 if its messed up and theres no way I will buy FIFA unless they have made big changes.
