Operation Flashpoint 2 Xbox 360, PS3 and PC

Supermarket price slashing continues

Codemasters' Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising to go on sale for £27 at Asda tonight

Fears over whether supermarkets will slash prices on more new titles this Q4 are looking justified today, as ASDA reveals that it will sell Codemasters’ Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising at £27 from midnight tonight.

The offer comes after supermarkets offered FIFA 10 for sub-£30 last weekend – with Tesco leading the way at £24.97.

The Operation Flashpoint deal has been advertised in the national press this morning, and applies for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Asda has confirmed to MCV that the offer will run for a week. According to Amazon, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising carries an RRP of £49.99.

Discussing supermarket price cutting, Codemasters CEO Rod Cousens told MCV magazine today:

“It is free market forces at work and it is a matter for retailers to make decisions which they consider to be beneficial to their business.

"There could be a view that in doing so it highlights a reduction in retail trade margin requirements going forward, thereby benefiting the content providers. In the final analysis, the consumer wins, and if that means more software is sold then how good is that?”

Operation Flashpoint is enjoying positive reviews in the specialist press, and is widely seen as one of the most anticipated action games of the Christmas period.

Funny how the last time I had a free triel with love film they ssent me crap every week until the last month of the trial and then they sent me 2 new releases. Today they've posted Flashpoint to me and my trial ends in 3 weeks time.

They take the piss.

Played it last night... takes some time to adjust but its really tense at times.

anything online Headsets is a must and better if you know the people involved. Too many times the people in my squad went off alone... :-) they didn't last long.

Should have my copy this evening, will give it a quick run through late tonight.

quick question guys. Is the online co-op campaign separate from the single player campaign or does it automatically save the most current one you play in.

Ali i have played it for only about 2 hours... In that time i have enjoyed it, i would not recommend it for everyone though. Very little action then all of a sudden BOOM and your looking for the guy who shot at you. Online and Co-op currently having server problems (are EA hosting this :-)) but it got better when i tried it later on.

Heard its £26 at Tesco and Asda again though so well worth that because you'll get nearly that much for it on ebay at Xmas.

I'l post more tomorrow when i've done a few more things.

One thing i will say, Sniping is amazing. You have to allow for the bullet to drop over distance so the further away the higher you aim. When you hit someone form 300+ metres it feel like scoring a manual goal on Fifa :-)

On hardcore mode with no HUD, compass or crosshair this game really shines. All thats on screen is your gun and the world.

Well, the tutorial's is a bit shit isn't it?

I started the game, it tells me I need to blow stuff up and puts markers on the map. It tells me to use LB to run. So I run. For ages.

And that's it, no more tutorial. I get a couple of hundred yards from one of the targets and all of a sudden there's bullets flying everywhere from my team and the enemy, "Enemy spotted 200m NW!" I'm hearing constantly but can I see anyone? I see bushes and trees, and bullets, no enemy though.

So I duck down, creep around, bullets whizzing around me while I look through my scope at the part of the map where the enemy are, and I still just see trees. Then I see some movement on the edge of my screen, someone to shoot! :BOP:

Nope, my teammate shot him before I could even get my cursor close to him :(

They kill all of the enemy while I sit there looking at the brown scenery, and I get told they're all down. So I make my way to the target, which I'm supposed to destroy. But I haven't got a clue how I destroy it, no tutorial pops up. I walk around to see if there's some flashing section where I can plant a C4, nothing.

So I back off and ready a grenade, tossing it close to the target. My teammates obviously didn't mind being sat on a grenade, they stayed put. Grenade goes up, a few screams of "FUCK!" and their status turned yellow.

I turned the game off. I'll need to sit down properly with it and actually concentrate and have some more patience I think. Could be a good game, could do with a (better) tutorial as well though.

Exactly what i put

both of us must be playing it wrong

Completed the first mission and to be honest it's boring and confusing. Tomorrow I'll give it another crack and see if I gradually begin to enjoy it.

Agree with people about not being about to see people you're shooting! There must be a way to zoom in the scope when you press LT to aim?

I'll be up for some coop tonight, if people are on send me an invite :TU:.

just got this and its definetly no cod type, but its more tactical team work and anything can happen

i.e played one game online, right at start we jumped in jeep and we drove then we got ambushed and we tried to turn round but i didn't make it, but it offers something i dont remember alot of other shooters offering, aspect of realism i guess

I'm playing on the level above Normal. Took me 51 mins to do 1st mission. I got quite a few kills to be honest. I do like it. Its a nice change from the COD style. Was a fan of ghost recon as well.

It can depend on what weapon you're using. Some have telescopic sights, others are just basic iron-sights. Don't forget you can pick up different weapons from dead soldiers and ammo crates, maybe you can find one with more zoom.

Sounds good to me. I haven't had time to play this properly yet but I'm reading single player is a bit shit due to the crap AI, whereas co-op is supposed to be quality.

Blasted through it on Co-op and I've had enough of it at least for the moment. It has far too many bugs in it for a released game but when it's good it's really good. There are boring parts as well, though.

And get ready to run. A lot.

I'm stuck on the 3rd mission - The part where you have to erm... well that's part of the problem I think. I'm at some beach area and have to defend it I think. I'll tell my 3 idiotic team mates to man the guns and then I'll run around killing and then without fail out of nowhere the mission will fail.

I've retried the section over and over and I've failed it every time without me dying or doing anything obviously going to cause a failure.

Pissing me off big time.

Yeah it's not great, had a blast of it last night.

It's so open-ended that a lot of the time you just don't know what you're doing or where you should be going. Shooting seems a bit too accurate from distance and the whole package just seems ... not very good.

The voice acting, which is constant, is what annoys me the most. Don't try to put on a gruff voice if you can't do it, because you just sound like a bit of a gimp.

I just done that mission. Told my team to man the guns and kept bringing up the map and ordering them on the guns incase some left. My squad basically defended till the enemy retreated.

I keep trying that and without fail my guys all die so I end up shitting myself and hiding in a building taking them out through the windows and then it was fail the mission.

The team mate AI in this game is some of the worst I have ever seen.

Radiation I struggled with that first, just stay near the sand bags and make sure you get some guns from the box to the left of the turret. I just finished that mission as well.

I'm beginning to like this game more and more, it just needs getting use to!

I got killed when staying near the sandbags. Instead I met up with my other squad who came out of the huts. Once with them I never felt in trouble.
