>> Dirt Rally - (Successor to RBR Rally Sim)

This game comes out on PS4 and Xbox One next week (april the 5th).
I've been reading some reviews and the reviews are very good.

Actually, i bought my first Playstation after a weekend with my brother in law where we played Colin McRae 2.
That is one of the best games i've ever played.
Later editions by Codemasters where always much less fun.
Dirt Rally was compared to Colin McRae 2.

I certainly will buy it...was very impressed by the trailer.

If you loved the Colin McRae I would def purchase this game, it is very very good.
Takes a while to get used to the controls but once you do it is very good.

I was going to buy it on the PS4 so I could play a few mates on it, but this is dependent on how far back the PS4 version is in development, since the PC version is patched constantly and been out a very long time in Alpha.
But I only have doubts because of Project Cars which when released on console was using a pretty old PC build.

Its a pure rally simulator and acts as such, think Successor to Richard Burns Rally (best physics to date until Dirt Rally). The previous games are far more arcade (pram on wheels) when it comes to physics, if you have a wheel get one as this is just a sim dream :) However it works sweet with a controller too, plenty of tweaking and settings.

As mentioned above and to extend, its now out of beta and now is V1.0 release on PC, so when out to console it will already be at that state/stage.

Colin McRae Rally 2 is one of the best games I ever played, we used to play it LAN in the office back then at night, sessions with 6+ players, and was amazingly good in all senses.

I would be glad with a simple remaster of that game, so if Dirt is compared to it, I might be tempted to get it.

aw its tremendous. Got that absolutely nerve shredding concentration level to it which is superb and I'm still racing my mini! this really has met expectation so far.

Its superb - got it on PC the other day and feels great with the wheel, but I believe it plays just as well on a pad (well, as close as).

Its also on offer today for £17 from CDkeys... get it!

You should keep an eye on UK Hot Deals it was £1.55 last week cos a price cock up.

amazing game, i have it on pc and play with the controller, but i have trouble entering corners it seems like the controls arent responsive or the car doesnt turn, i dont know how to fix this. im playing with the xbox 360 controller.

It is true that Codemasters have made a great step forward recently, but they still seem to have a long way to go.
To be honest, not that good for me. Most of all, I can hardly feel the differences among the vehicles. Exaggeratedly speaking, all cars seem to share the same enging sounds and physics.

That's the first negative review I've read of the game, and I was going to pick it up tonight... :(

I really miss rally games, but really really don't like any of the recent WRC games (isn't there a new Richard Burns Rally game on the way?).

Do you have any better recommendations?

I have it and it's great, Chris.
I had some f the previois Dirt games and i soon won all the races.
Now IJhaven trouble enting them.

I'm far from an hardcore gamer, but i sense differences between the cars.
About the audio, all reviewers claim it's th best ever in a racing game.

Imo you shouldn't let yourself influence by one negative opinion.

I have the game and it reminds me about the second Collin McRae game, which is perhaps the best game i ever played.

This game worth buying, Chris. Pretty well made. My comment was exaggerated like I said before.

What I wanted to say is I hope Codemasters give more efforts to characterize each vehicle.

There's a game called Assetto Corsa of which the developers drive each car by themselves and measure its various data with gauging instruments before they make it. And they bring it into the game perfectly and exactly as well as its own sounds.

Assetto Corsa is coming to consoles this year, then you'll see what I mean.

I've heard a lot of good things about Assetto Corsa. Good that it comes to consoles. I don't like PC gamimg, but that is because i'm not good with computers.

I found project cars better than assetto corsa but i dont know i may be wrong, but project cars feels like a fully developped game, i like the driving better in project cars

I bought Project Cars and I've barely touched it - I bought a wheel to go with it, knowing that I'd more than likely only have the time to set it up once in a blue moon, and when I played it on a controller (PS4) I just couldn't get into the handling.

I should give that another go, really...

Rally cars are usually set to understeer for the sake of stability. Rally cars need to turn the corners with drifting techique very frequently in order to shorten the record. If they are set to oversteer they get to be very unstable during the drifting. That's why they are set to understeer.

Try to do drift in the corner, it's easy and exciting in this game. Just push brake and gas at the same time and turn.

Not really.

here you go, a nice setup for the controller, got me to play the game really good with the xbox 360 controller.

Master?!

I can't even get an average section time!!

I caved in and bought it a few days ago - absolutely love it, don't get me wrong, but in the first career race (Powys, Wales), I'm about 8 seconds further behind with every checkpoint I reach.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, either, other than the blatantly obvious "not going fast enough" (but if I go faster, I fly off a cliff / into a wall at the corner).

I don't really know how to improve...

Any advice?

Don't know if i'm the one to give you advice, but i'll try.
What i do is 'racing' very conservative in the first stages.
This brings me around the 4th place.

In the last stages i take a litle bit more risks and the i usually end up 3th or second. Haven't won a single stage until now.

This is with the Mini. I'm reasonably well with that car.

I'm not bad with the Escort either, but i bought the Fiat 131 Mirafiori and that is a very difficult car. Yesterday i started the week challenge, the Wales Rally and made the mistake to ride it with the Fiat. I've been doing 3 stages and it was disaster...imo the difference between the cars is huge. Now i'm learning to change the set-up of the cars.

IMO Wales is the best but also themost difficult rally (haven't done the Swedish one until now).

Greece, Finland (the fastest?) Germany are ok, i really don't like Monte Carlo though...

Marvelous game. I'm not good at it, but i love it...

@ Chris Davies,
If you are not on the bonnet cam, how about switch over to it?
It gives you more open view than cockpit cam, and it gives you more proper view than chasing cam so that you can handle your car more precisely.

@ Gerd,
You must be good at it. Most people manage to go around even 4-5th.

Im very bad at this game i cant make the turns right every turb i end up understeering and to the edge of the road losing time, it is a very hard game i dont know how to setup the controller either...any advise would be appreciated.

Hand brake turn didn't help you at corners?
