why no red card for essien? sick challenge

Its chelsea luck, any other player would of been sent off. It sure would of changed the game like the commentater said and doubt chelsea would of came back if he had been sent off like what he deserved. The guy(essien) even had the cheek to play act and pretend he was the victim after purposely stamping on the boltons player leg.

Re: Chelsea FC Thread - Chelsea 5-1 Bolton

How long you guys reckon Mourinho will stay at Chelsea?
I have a feeling, he's the kind of coach who'll immediately look for new challenges once he's won the champions league with Chelsea.

( By the way, Professor Nutmeg. Guess who copied your nickname!

He will probably leave around 2010, probably going to the Italian league. :\
I'll be an old man the day he becomes coach oh the portuguese national side.

Re: Chelsea FC Thread - Chelsea 5-1 Bolton

another good game from Chelsea again and fine dispalys from Lamps and Drog.

Re: Chelsea FC Thread - Chelsea 5-1 Bolton

Yep, that Essien really pissed me off on Saturday. It was a shocker and as Prof. says, the ref is to blame. I think if that was in the opposite the Bolton player would've walked. It really got me annoyed when he started gesturing to the ref to get him sent off..............bloody hate that when a player does that.

It shows you the advantage of home games. Had that been at Bolton, the crowd would've got Essien sent off, if you know what i mean.

Very good point.

Re: Chelsea FC Thread - Chelsea 5-1 Bolton

But despite the fact that Essien should have been sent off, lets not forget how strong Chelsea was...

Re: Chelsea FC Thread - Chelsea 5-1 Bolton

I don't actually think that is the case. I'm gonna be honest and say that even the likes of Celtic and Rangers up here get decisions that other teams wouldn't. I don't think it's necessarily a case of the ref being biased, I think they just sometimes take the easy option and let the big guys get the decision.

I still don't think Essien would've walked.

I think a high majority of refs fall into this category.

Re: Chelsea FC Thread - Chelsea 5-1 Bolton

I agree, and to me its another advantage of a home game, which is why teams are favourable to do well at home

Re: Chelsea FC Thread - Chelsea 5-1 Bolton

Do you think the crowd actually knew it wasnt in?

Re: Chelsea FC Thread - Chelsea 5-1 Bolton

according to sky sports news Chelsea will break a record if the run continues and you beat us....
