attack defence etc during game ?

how can i tell what iam using during game, iam pressing the left trigger button to change between attack and defend etc but theres nothing i can see on the screen that shows what iam doing while iam playing, can someone tell me please ?

me to ... um using xbox360 controller and i used to hold l2 and press r1 & r2 to change the defensive and attacking condition with any other controller it works but with x360 never ... any idea

my controller is a logitech rumblepad 2 usb, and the game is on pc i meant to say, so how do i fix it, is it the same instructions as given to the guy in other post ?
