In the short term, yes. But TV income, sponsors, housing from the redeveloped areas, tourist sales etc.... makes up for it all and then some.

 

I'm gonna start rationing my weekly allowance of alcohol from this moment on - a sudden drop of money and items for myself would be too hard to take once the taxes kick in

True...but I think TV revenue and sponsorship deals have become more ever present since then. Olympics is a huge commercial event with companies willing to spend zonks. I get the feeling that a vast majority of the construction work will be covered by commercial deals alone.....or am I being too optimistic?
