Pondering MyClub

Non-League

If I've just started and am in DIV 12, but am encountering players in the same division with entire squads of all-star players, they bought gold coins and spent them on the team, right? This micro-transaction business is already looking, at best; entirely unpalatable, and at worst; disgusting.

I don't know, the whole mode thing seems kind of joyless and without soul. Are people enjoying it? I mean, everybody has Ronaldo, Neuer, Goetze, etc in their team. Where's the variety? I imagine in the higher leagues, every game will be against the same team over and over! PES has always been about putting the time in and getting your rewards so I'm not really worried about getting top, top players, but yeah, at the moment it seems more like a boring - albeit interesting - entrée to the main dish.

Finally, what's up with the manager system? An interesting idea in principal, but in practice, are we to believe all managers are wedded to a single system? Imagine Real Madrid sacking Ancelotti and hiring some unknown guy before a CL quarter-final because they needed to play 4-5-1!

Just some early thoughts. Correct me I'm wrong about anything (surely the better managers on the game are more flexible, for eg?).

Oh yeah, not too enamoured with the transfer system either. Having agents is another great idea in principal but it doesn't do enough to simulate the reality: that players are presented and then you either sign them, or don't. Right now, you put your hands into guy's mystery bag (uhh...) and hope for the best. No choice!

Thoughts?

I played just one game yet, and didn't really get into the mode, but it's the most attractive mode in the game for me. What I've seen so far is for example that you can only buy top coaches with myclub coins and, correct me if I#m wrong, I think you can only buy these with real money, so Konami forces us to use real money?

There is an option where you can select playing only against an opponent with equal team strength. Does'nt this prevent from playing against teams with so much star players?

There is no thread yet about myclub experiences so I would like to read some oppinions here.

I've really enjoyed it so far. More development of the online Master League would have been welcome but this is a good alternative, and it leads to more varied teams in my experience.

I've not come across many teams with top-class players (not seen Ronaldo or Messi yet, and any system that means the top players are owned by less people is a better system, in my opinion).

The manager system is too rigid I agree, but also, the manager's playing philosophy and the team chemistry is a nice way of tying it together. It's not about "you're all Spanish so you all play well together". It's more in-depth than that, which I love.

I don't agree with microtransactions, and I don't see a way of getting an amazing manager without paying for one (which I think is pretty disgraceful, unless I'm missing a way of getting more than 300 of those coins by doing little tasks I've accidentally discovered and been rewarded for).

But otherwise, I've enjoyed it a lot so far. My favourite PES mode for a long time.

Does anyone of you know if there's a tutorial or some kind of a walkthrough in the web?

I'm at work, it's boring and I want to know more about it :D

The more matches you play, the more managers are available to buy with GP. In the end you should be able to buy each manager with GP.

Ok, played a few more matches and I'm definitely coming round to it. There's a lot more depth than Master League Online, a mode I loved. I just wish there weren't micro-transactions and the manager/agent system was more realistic. It's like they've got rid of a quite good mode and replace it with another quite good mode, when what they really needed was to merge the two!

The way I see it, don't even look at the Gold Coins - cos fuck them, and fuck Konami. It's all about the GP - no way am I paying to progress!

Hey Putschi, what do you need to know? Think of it as like Master League only now you are more of a director; ie, you hire the manager and he has a particular playing style he enjoys. Players that are more up his street - whether he prefers short passing, high pressing, etc - appear red on the formation heat map. It's kind of funny. You can't mess with the formation but you can edit the positions of players when with the ball (and without it) provided it doesn't change the role of the player. Your manager has a rating and a numerical limit to the quality of players he can coach; basically, every player comes with his own "cost", and you have to assemble a squad of players that are under or equal to that team number. Sign too many class players with a crap manager, for example, and it effects team unity, which I guess is because he's out of his depth. As you get more GP and advance up the divisions you can hire better managers with higher numerical limits, meaning you can sign superior players. Uh, there's 12 Divisions, and you advance up them playing 10 games season against other human players. If you want to "level up" up your squad without playing online, you can compete against the CPU, but these matches are glorified friendlies and don't affect your standing in a league. There are also MLO's competitions/cups that you can enter periodically against other players. As for signing players, as you play games you earn agent badges - you might, for example, earn "specialist area: short passers" or "explosive power". The more badges you combine when searching for a player, the greater chance you'll find a player with a rating over 75%. For the price of going to a Top Agent (10,000), you will get a guaranteed over 75%-rated player but the options are less specific than using the badges with lesser known agents: Goalkeeping specialist, Defence specialist, Midfield, etc".

It's ah, interesting!
