Next Gen Consoles

The machines aren't ready to demo them plus these games are made on PC,s not consoles.
I have FIFA and Forza on the Xbox 1 both are amazing to look at and play the only ppl that are complaining don't have a next gen console yet,
The rest of us are busy :)

You trying to tell me an Xbox One prototype wasn't ready at E3? At least demo these games on a PC running the appropriate AMD graphics card and not a high-end Nvidia gpu as was shown at E3.

Should be ready. E3 was only a few months ago.these consoles should surely have been done by then to allow a few months of testing @

I think its pretty clear the XB1 has gone to the wire to meet launch, hence why so much of the software still needs things adding to it.

Still a poor show to demo stuff on a higher spec'd PC, pretty naughty that.

Had a core unit PS4 pre-ordered since June from a Swedish online retailer, finally got an email from them today, as I was one of the earliest to pre-order they can send me a PS4 in December and it'll be £430 for the console and 1 controller! Crazy.

BTW I think there needs to be a decision as to the threads in this forum, no point having a next gen thread + PS3/4 + 360/1 threads, personally I'd vote for this thread to be closed and PS3 and PS4 to be two threads and 360 and Xbone to be two threads, current gen/next gen consoles shouldn't be in the same thread the topics of discussion are unrelated really, thoughts?

It would certainly stop all the Xbone/PS4 fan boy comments.

Different topic are the Turtle Beach X12 headphones any good?
They were £25 on the amazon lightning deal.

Agreed. Should be an obvious decision now that they're out.

EDIT: Done.

500 bucks for 4-5 years! You just can’t top that! Bet you spent 2000 or more on your rig.

Yes that is pretty much the case, my rig didn't cost £2000 but is probably very close.
But I use my PC for everything - Games, Office, Adobe, Web Design, Porn... But most importantly modding - This alone to me is worth £10000.

The price of games on PC are much cheaper, on some occasions half the price.
You buy a game a month on console for £45, the same games cost £25 on PC - £20 a game saving.
That's £200 a year, over 5 years that's £1000 recouped.

And the differences are minor!! I mean, how it actually looks on your screen!

This is quite a statement.
I can tell you the differences are not minor - BF5 looks stunning on PC in 4K RTX turned on @60FPS - The PS4 doesn't come close visually.
Plus on PC you double the FPS of consoles, which makes a massive difference.

so tell me please, what 10 year old mainboard can handle a 2020 gfx card properly? What 10 year old RAM works well with modern MB? It goes on and on and on....

It is possible to run any 2020 GFX card on a motherboard from 2011 onwards.
Z68 Chipset which supports any Sandybridge or Ivybridge processor which is 3rd gen i7.
So RAM just isn't compatible.
However a 3rd Gen i7 with 16GB Ram and a GFX card would still be able to run games today with High settings.

And if you're the one investing only once every 10 years... you are the minority. Even smaller than that, imo. No harm meant, just saying.

No that is not possible.. Although you can get away with a 6/7 year old PC, you will need to change the GFX every 4/5 years.
But then that's the thing I love about PC gaming, it is not just a thing, it is a hobby, a sad hobby to some, but I love upgrading my PC, it is like having a new console every year or two.. When you plug in a new processor or graphics card and you benchmark it and it gives you 20% performance increase, you just love it .
The initial outlay for a gaming PC is probably around £1000, then you would probably spend I would say £100 a year in keeping it updated.

Also people keep saying their console can't play last gen games - I can still play DOS games on my PC, and anything made for Windows 95.
What console has a back catelog of 30 years + Emulators to play every game from every system up to the PS2.
We would have a working PS3 emulator by now, but after the Bleem situation people don't like making emulators anymore.

I’ll get to that tmw!
And when I do, it’s not about me trying to be the champ or making other systems look bad.
Man, if there is anything really plausible switching system, I’d do!
Talk to you tmw. Sleep tight.

You wanna go that route?! I’m fine with that. :)

If you want to have that “feeling” of having more power... feed your pc hardware. Feel good! I’m feeling good if you are. :D
But: the on-screen product, with costs in perspective, isn’t that much different (if any), but costs da hell damn less!!

And then I could go on with screens... most users don’t even have that screen that can show the power of the machine behind.... ^^

But I like that PC owners are a test-bed/pusher for my console. Thanks for that big time. Keep it up...!! :)

You think this is about feeling powerful, mate?
I'd pity who feels powerful for owning a better console/PC/car/etc.

I just feel good (not about power, I saved a lot of money for a very long time to get this, it didn't fall from the sky) about making the right choice 3 years ago and know I know that it will probably last for 5 or 6 more years. So it was a good decision all around.
Because I use this PC for Graphics and Web Design. I use it for Audio edition. I use it for Gaming. I use it for Modding. Sometimes all of those tools I need are running at the same time, so I needed the rig. Not to mention that the difference ARE NOT as subtle as you made them out to be.

Games like Detroit Become Human which are very demanding look a lot better on powerful PCs.
Not to mention old games like GTA V or BATMAN ARKHAM KNIGHT can be made to feel like they were released a month ago, because you can unlock and unleash NextGen graphics on Old Gen games, thanks to Mods.

(You wanted screens? I think videos are better).

Which means that those "old" classics we love so much can still be played and enjoyed even more than the first time you played them.
I was actually considering to get a PS5 before I saw what I saw today. But I, naively, expected so much more. I thought it would have been the real deal.

Actually, it's the other way around mate. Games on PC are either released at the same time as consoles OR much later.

I don't know why you felt like this was a competition, or why you took it personal as if I was attacking you, I wasn't even talking to you in the first place, didn't even mention you at all :P. Don't really understand your need to reply to me that way, in the other thread.

Chuny, my man!! all good pal!

first of all, its nothing against you mate. i just answered and it happend it was your post.

i admit, i was playing with that "master race" thingy a bit. but really, nothing against you!

when i'm writing regarding this topic (and any other) i have an opinion and then there are facts. i'm not shy learning something new or being proved wrong (and admitting). thats life. i want to learn!! i can be totaly wrong here and if this is the case, i want to understand why!

so i was talking about gaming, so i meant gaming PC's. sure a computer is super handy for photoshop and more... i get you. but lets stay with the gaming part for now.
if we'd start this winter from scratch: i spent 500 you spent around 1500 for a gaming computer (lets assume both systems last 5 years). you playing in 4k with 60fps and i do as well. so you gave away 3 times the money! ok, have that extra super duper shader that comes with you (what?!) 600 bucks gfx card?! i dont the see relation here. few minor gfx tricks more arent worth 1000 bucks extra, imo.
but i agree, if you want top notch gfx then PC is the way to go. only its much much more expensive!

next point: software
might be, but i mostly play current games. the old ones i have played back then.
why? because there is more than gfx evolution with modern games. ok, PES is a bad example here (as the gp of 2017 is much better, imo), but you get my point.
i'm the guy whos not replaying The Witcher 3 (wich is an awesome game) one gen later because gfx are even better. i had the story, i've seen it all.
would you read a book again because it was printed on better paper with better fonts and a shiny new cover!? the content is still the same!!
at least thats how i tick! :) ...and each to his own!!

you expected more!? what did you expect!?
i was expecting nothing and got suprised by nice technical presentation that helped me understand some tech stuff! thats not for everyone i admit, most users want to see a game rolling. flashy gfx... like when you go to the supermarket and see all the TV with wrong colors and stuff! people. simple is that.
i liked the ssd part and expansion of memory a lot.

!?!? the new consoles will have hardware that was released on PC before! RTX2020 anyone!? for hundreds of dollars anyone!? ;)
so this is a pro point, that games come later!? ;)

again, nothing personal! really, you shoud know me by now!

so please, now, do repsond and teach me. im beginning to think im wrong here (but cant see why). but make it understandable please, i dont want to die stupid. :) if some german fellas might wanna help me out here in german!?

There are currently plenty of games available for PC which use what console gamers are calling *Future Tech*
Yes on PC you do have to pay a premium for RTX - PC GFX cards have become a joke recently cost wise, but this is due to Nvidia being so far ahead of anything AMD have to offer, there is just no competition for them in the PC market.

So this is the only area for PC gamers at the moment, where we are getting a really bad deal.

you expected more!? what did you expect!?

I have not seen the presentation as they normally talk alot of s**t in these presentations, talking up their features and then critisiing other developers.
The SSD is probably the biggest upgrade in both consoles this time around, the loading times on PS4 and Xbox are a joke - I find it really painful using my PS4 Pro, my PC boots and loads a game before my PS4 is even logged in.
Graphically we will have to wait and see what the reality is, cos at the moment they are just talking teraflops and not much more, but 16GB Ram for system and GFX card does seem on the low side.

Honestly mate, I have not the strength nor the will to reply. I've got way bigger fish to fry right now.
And you are free to go about your life thinking whatever you like, and having your own personal preferences. And so do I.
Trying to convince someone else that they are wrong, is pointless. Or so I've learned through my days on this planet.
As long as we respect each other, everything else is alright.
